Just curious as to what everyone else thinks.
Personally I had 2 60's pre BC, firstly a warrior, and then a priest
Neither were very epiced out, my war had maybe 2 epics, my priest 3
in both cases, I personally believe i was having a lot more fun running instances, world pvping and BGing than I do on my 2 70's in epics, and especially more than my 2 whos gear is merely 5man blues
It seems like now, unless your gear is the latest and greatest, your completely useless. Pre BC i remember running around in my scholo/strat etc geared toons and having fun, and if you run into someone in T2 you weren't guaranteed screwed (high chance, but not as high as now)
Having a blue weapon fighting someone with 2-3 epics didnt mean you may as well just bend over. Often getting the jump, the element of surprise or just doing something unexpected were enough to let you win despite the gear difference
This isn't anything in the debate between casuals and raiders, it just seems that end game doesn't begin at max level anymore, but instead when your fully epic. Until then you may as well run around mid ranged outlands areas

I've only started WoW a year ago, but from what I hear, it used to be a lot better :(
I just wish I could've experienced it..
So I could talk about "The Good Old Days"..
..lol

90% of players are wearing welfware epics, that's the issue. Resilience, as stated in many threads, has also killed PvP.
I sort of wish that certain major PvP gear was rendered useless in raids/heroics. I find it unnacceptable that a dps class is considered geared well enough for kara in their PvP blues with the couple BG epics they have, yet, as a tank, it's not acceptable.
"What is your hit rating?"
"I dont need hit rating, I have +500 spell damage"
ugh....

I can't really compare the two times because "back then" things were incredibly fun, but the game is now much better than it used to be. Well, as far as PVP goes, I had way more fun when World PVP was a daily struggle on PVP servers. There was nothing better than that, in my eyes.
I would say I have the fondest memories from the classic game, but that the fun is relative to the times. I'm sure I'll have way more fun when WLK is released than right now.

I dinged 60 right after BC came out, so I can't speak of the "good ol' days", but I do wish that "epics" actually meant something, the way they used to. Now everyone can get epics and they don't even need to succeed at anything. You can noob your way through arena for a few months with a 10% win record and still buy yourself s3 gear. You can get a group together and do cakewalk heroics like SP and ramps for badges, along with the SSO dailies and have enough to get an epic or two a month. Hell, any half-decent guild in welfare epics and 2/5 T4 can go into MH or BT and handle the first couple bosses.
I'm not even going to go into PvP because I personally hate it, but I'd rather have meaningful world pvp than all these stupid ass battlegrounds and arenas. BGs/arenas aren't pvp - they are a means to an end that you slog through with a bunch of other people because there's gear at the end of the tunnel.

I HATE this sentence. Resillience just brings good things in PvP.
Back in 60s. PvP was mainly Ambush, Pom-Pyro and Wind Fury. No tactical, just a 4-5 seconds fight and who get the crit, get the win.
With resillience, we must fight to get a kill and no, crits build like feral druids or mutilate rogues, are not dead.
Resillience also created a straight line between PvE gear and PvP gear, you can't PvP properly with PvE gear and you can't PvE properly with a PvP gear.

Arenas and t5 equivalent badge gear is what is killing this game.
Remove 2.4 badge loot. 2.3 badge loot was good enough as is.
Kalgan has no idea how to implement an e-sport into a MMO and if you would you like to know why it's BECAUSE
YOU CAN'T
.
To appropriate a rant from lewis black...
Let's take a class-based MMO, in which no class is actually created equal, despite all previous balancing attempts, then try to shove that enormous square peg through a fvcking keyhole. Unfortunately, the road to hell is paved on such things, and so far it looks like Blizzard is jolly well building everyone a quick route there with the current ease of acquiring gear.
What they need to do is remove arena from normal realms and confine it to the tourney realms.
Before anyone tries to jump on my back and claim I only feel this way because I am terrible at arena, can it. My skill in arena (1700s with mostly PvE gear) has nothing to do with how I feel about the current situation of the game.

You sir are an idiot. And so is everyone else who states or thinks this. You clearly don't understand PvP mechanics in the least, and I'm betting that if you played pre-BC, you're one of the scrubs that got by on the fact that he could one-shot people in his crazy epics, and thought he was a good player because of it.
And am I the only one that sees the irony here? "no pvp geer in pvp plxorz, but pve geer in pvp plx". (Sure, you're not stating it directly. But you're implying it.)
Well sure there's irony, but it might be a bit apparent that people liked Vanilla WoW's mechanics of PvP a lot more. Sure resil makes duels 2v2 etc. last longer, but maybe that's not what we want. Society today is bent to do things faster, and since Blizzard has slowed it down, well, christ, people are going to complain. They want to see their foes on the ground in one click of Stormstrike / WF. I, for one, loved those days. Lv. 60 was surely better, it's all opinionated.

I can actually agree to some extent - resilience has made it so that if someone without pvp gear faces someone with, the victory is already decided in many cases. It has also ensured that a pvp-geared lvl 70 player can corpse camp two lvl 69 players and they aren't able to do anything about it.

You're correct about this... but you're focusing too hard on the colors (rarity) of the gear/weapons. Epics are much easier to get now, so it's not a big issue that end game doesn't start until you're fully epic.
With regards to arena and PvP discussion, the only thing I don't like is the double standard of PvP gear being usable in PvE and not vice versa (armor, not weapons... and not Rogues 'cause cheat death is just stupid).

Pre-TBC you actually had to work to get your epics, and in my eyes it always feels better if you worked for your epics, i loved the hardcore raids starting 7pm and ending 6 am in the morning, to bad all of that is history now and we will NEVER see WoW go that hardcore again, too many people are playing, too many people that will quit if WoW goes back old-skool...
Pity though :(
I really don't see how not being able to raid 11 hours straight anymore isn't seen as an improvement. Really, if you're able to do so you need to think about quitting. Seriously think.

Rather than saying that PvP epics are easy to get (though in a sense they are), I'd put it this way: Anyone who is willing to grind PvP long enough will get the epics they want. This is true with out regard to skill or any achievement in PvP. IHMO that simply bites.
As for the impact of resilience it has ruined world PvP for those of us who don't PvP for gear. I was doing dailies last Saturday and the ganking and camping on the Isle was truly beyond belief. Players who had already finished their dailies in their S3s were happily crushing and camping those of us in non-PvP gear. It was ugly. So Blizzard apparently feels that to benefit from PVE dailies I should be forced to grind for PvP epics to allow me to complete them.
Pre-BC world PvP often was not a 5 second fight especially 1v1. Yeah I got one shotted my fair share of times but often the fight would last quite a while. Now as was said above if only one of you is in PvP gear the fight is pretty much decided before it begins.
Yeah I know "don't play on a PvP server yada yada ". I don't mind playing on a PvP server - but don't force me to have certain gear outside the arena's to PVE here.

QQ — I work twice as hard at my real life job as other employees & get paid probably half that of someone with the same title as me. I am overworked & under-appreciated.
