I really like Paladin tanks for five-man instances. I quite honestly prefer them over any other tank, so long as they're well-geared and know what they're doing. Really, they're kind of underrated. They do have a lot of problems compared to warrior and druid tanks, like the HP deficit, but for dealing with trash or small instances, there's nobody I'd rather turn to.
That said, paladin healing is superior in a lot of ways, especially for endurance fights in raids, and for PvP. I haven't been having a hard time finding plate with +heal on it, and in a pinch I can always wear cloth; I'm not overly concerned about my armor rating, since I'm not getting constantly hit. I dunno, I juat haven't had a huge problem with it.

their "taunt" skill is vastly inferior to the Warrior Taunt and whatever the Druid one is,
What? we taunt 3 mobs and they taunt 1, i think 3 is better than 1...
Righteous Fury is crap because it works on the one school of paladin spells you DON'T want agro on,
paladins only have 1 school of spells
tankadins want all the aggro we can get!
you do not use righteous fury as holy or ret so it doesn't matter
and paladins need +spell damage to be of any use as offensive.
ret paladins stack more AP than spelldamage
tankadins only have minimal spelldamage, about 1/3 ~ 1/5 of a caster
however this comment is true for holy paladins and shockadins
not sure what message you are trying to convey here....

OP: you should find a good prot paladin and do an instance or watch some videos you'll be amazed at what they can do, Shattered Halls is an excellent place with all the trash
you do not use righteous fury as holy or ret so it doesn't matter
In PvP it can be useful for the damage reduction or sometimes for off-tanking
what's QTF?

ty for answering my question, but i'd have to disagree with this
for damage reduction you need to have 3 points in here, which you shouldn't as holy or ret since the 3 points can be used somewhere better suited

Does this mean were bad at those 2 tasks? no, there are merely other classes more efficient at it.
i'd like to see a warrior tanking 6 elite mobs while the rest of the group AoE's them down, paladin tanks are not to be underrated in these forums

The classic arena build:

For PVE its slightly less useful but in PvP that build makes you a little more durable

i apologize, my mind refuses to take in arena as PvP most of the time, and yes, that's probably the best in arena but i was only thinking about BG's
i wasn't thinking of imp concentration aura and stocism for arenas
a thousand pardons

I'd say yes, because 99% of all raid leaders / guild masters is too chicken to let a Paladin DPS or Tank.

you should consider changing guilds then
a lot of guilds on my server allow paladin tanks

If your holy, put those 3 points into blessed life..10% chance to halve all damage...kinda like some built in resilience.
imp righteouse fury: reduces all damage by 6%
blessed life: 10% to cause half damage = 1 proc out of 10 hits = 95% damage out of ten hits = 5% reduction
imp righteous fury has 1 more % reduction
