Is Battle.net undergoing maintenance?

I was put into a queue, and after restarting the app, there is a message that says, "It's a busy day for Blizzard Servers", with an estimated wait time of 2,500 minutes. I haven't been able to find anything anywhere about scheduled maintenance, and searches here and through google searching only turn up old threads or discussions.
I suspect something is going on, but wonder why I can't find it reported anywhere. A ping of the servers returns no data: 16.Apr.2017 10:08 0 ms.
I'll check back in the morning. :)

Same. Except I closed and reopened my app and now it just can't connect. Mine didn't give an eta though. Plus the official website appears to not be working on my end either.

Same here. App restart and computer restart and no change. Obviously something is wrong.

Oh good, it's not just me.
I had the same thing. "We're busy today." Wait time of 1100 minutes. Then it came on, but wouldn't connect. I've also found that the website is down. Hopefully it will be fixed soon!

It seems that everything is down. The shop, forums, and the game. Not sure what is going on, but I hope they fix it soon.

I received the same message and got the queue, and since Battlenet is down, I looked on twitter and found this.

The technical issues we mentioned earlier are still being investigated. Further updates in an hour. #BlizzCS

We're currently investigating an issue affecting all our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts.

Okay I went to my twitter account and blizzard knows of the problem. It says " We are currently investigating reports of login issues. Apologies for any inconvenience caused." That was the first tweet which was 2 hours ago. The second tweet was. "We're currently investigating an issue affecting all our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts." that also was 2 hours ago. The third tweet says, " The technical issues we mentioned earlier are still being investigated. Further updates in an hour." That was an hour ago. Hope that helps.

Even the app is down. It seems to be a global thing. I'm in NZ, so I only know it's affecting US servers; but assume it is affecting EU, etc. as well. Hopefully there will be an announcement of some kind - there must be a lot of worried southern hemisphere players right now!
Edit: thanks for the Twitter info. They'll no doubt get it fixed soon. Too late to play now anyway. :)

I have a long standing rule of not playing on Sundays. I need 1 day a week away from this game.
It gives me a change to do computer, router and server maintenance.
Going to do that right now, in fact.

Still can't connect. At least there's not a 1170 minute queue now :)

Got up this morning and got a we couldn't connect message. Did a few things tried again, same result. Restarted the comp and all, same. Everything is down on their end, and as usual, blizz offers vague info with no ETA.

Blizz just tweeted this:
Due to an outage, game servers were taken offline to ensure the safety of the hardware. We are working to bring services back online.

Well at least they are trying. Happy Easter Everyone. Hope the games are back up soon.

Is this another case of "all eggs in one basket" that Blizz has been spiraling into?
I am wondering if this is a continuation of the latest issues that have been causing connectivity and latency issues server side.
Oh and the "protect the severs due to a power outage" is fertilizer since any enterprise level server system has secondary backup power, internet feeds and offsite servers available "just in case", well unless the servers and admin were "rightsized".

And that would probably normally be true...but it's a holiday weekend so more then likely there was just a skeleton crew at the main hub, which was probably what got taken down.
It's Easter Sunday, go spend the day with your friends and family outside of Azeroth.

Ah right, I assumed power since outage of the network backbone would have more widespread effects.

I blame the renaming to "Blizzard Net/App/etc."
Nomen est omen.
