I can't figure out why Wowhead keeps logging me out. I have keep me signed in ticked. I removed my battlenet account from my Wowhead account and use Zam to log in but it hasn't helped. It logs me out almost immediately after I log in and EVERY time I switch pages whether it be in a new window or the current window. I don't know if this is a bug or a setting I've missed. Can someone help me please?
Ty in advance

Which browser are you using?
Regardless of which though, try disabling all your extensions/add-ons and see if that has any effect. You'll also want to ensure your browser settings aren't interfering with the retention of cookies on our site.

I'd like to chime in with the same issue, although I've only ever used the ZAM login (didn't setup the battle.net login on Wowhead).
I'm using Google Chrome with uBlock Origin (sorry Wowhead), BTTV and the google default extensions.
Following your instructions of disabling all extensions, and also cheking them one by one seemed to fix the issue somehow, even with all of the extensions back up.
Dont know for how long though.
Also, something to consider is that after logging in to Wowhead, you should be redirected back to the page you were on, instead of sending us back to the frontpage.
Thanks for all the hard work.

Sorry for the delayed response. It took me a while to figure out my post was moved, I couldn't' find it, lol. I am not very computer savvy but I use Chrome and I googled how to turn off extensions and so I have. I'll have to wait see if it helped. One more thing, almost every day I get the permission box to allow cookies even though I keep ticking agreed.
I do agree with Mahkahaka, the reason it's so irritating that I get logged out over and over is because when I log back in I'm automatically redirected to the homepage and have to search what I was looking for in the first place again. It's a nice suggestion that when you log in you should be on the same page as when you clicked log in.
Thanks for tips about getting logged out, I'll try to troubleshoot and see if it's something specific causing it.

The simple fact that you keep having to say you agree to the cookie notice makes it even clearer you have a cookie retention issue. Something is clearing your cookies, either an extension or your own browser settings. It's impossible to stay logged into the website if cookies are being wiped. Let us know when/if you figure out what specifically was causing it.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not sure what made it stop happening but I turned off all the extensions for Chrome that my husband said I could without it not being able to run. This seems to have stopped logging me out and I no longer get the box to agree to cookies. I haven't and rarely manually install anything on my computer so whatever it was must have been added through some sort of update. Sorry I can't be more specific as to what it was.
I updated to Windows10 about 3 months ago now and I've had a lot of problems with my computer since then (tbh I think it's time for a new one). It is possible I've turned something off that was required to make Chrome extensions work properly although I'm skeptical because the Wowhead log out issue has not been going on for more than about a month and I haven't fussed with my computer in about 2 months. It started as an occasional problem and progressively worsened until I could no longer stay logged in at all.
I haven't been logged out since last I posted though so I really appreciate the suggestions and think the problem is solved.

Yeah, unfortunately browser extensions can interfere with the intended behavior of a website. Sometimes that's the
point
but other times not so much. Regardless, I'm thrilled it's back to normal for you! :)
Have a good day.

I've had the same issue only for the last few weeks. I remember having this issue about a year ago, and again--only this site, but then it resolved itself, and I did nothing, which likely points to some sort of server change.
Using Google Chrome, latest version. I log in, and literally moments later it logs me out just as I visit another page or link on the site. I've removed all wowhead cookies from Chrome and signed back in, still nothing.
I find it hard to believe it's my web browser, as all my other sites I log in with are fine and keep me signed in. I really don't want to switch to Firefox or *shudder* Microsoft Edge. Chrome is great and works well.
But in that event it is my web browser, is there a folder in AppData, Local, where we can erase just the wowhead stuff in case it is sticking around even though I erase login data? I am not resetting my entire browser just for one site that has problems.

After experimenting this weekend, I've found that it has something to do with the way that Wowhead is "beating" adblocker software. I employ 3 different adblockers through Chrome: Adblock Plus, Ghostery, and Adblock, along with McAfee Web advisor because I like to know when I'm about to click on a really bad link. I've never had trouble with Wowhead until this weekend, when suddenly I was logged out of both the ZAM & Battle.net logins every single time I clicked a link. After finding this thread, I went through the motions and made this site a "trusted site" for all 4 of those extensions, and I can stay logged in now.
Unfortunately, the ads really destroy Wowhead's loading time, constantly hang the site up, play music at inopportune times, and also have McAfee Web Advisor throwing off all kinds of warnings. Ever since I quit blocking ads, I have a constant red bar at the top of my screen from McAfee saying that "We tested this page and blocked content that comes from potentially dangerous or suspicious sites." As I typed this, the text editor box itself kept locking up constantly, making it take forever to type this.
There is no other site on the entire Internet quite like Wowhead, but with the changes made lately to get around adblockers and with the choices to use questionable ad sources, I may have to start curtailing my visits here. I hate it because this is one of my favorite sites...if the ads weren't so annoying, I'd be happy to keep the site whitelisted.

It seems the problem for me is a combination with wowheads new ad-system and chromes new security update, i got a cookie notification (never had that before) on the right side on the address bar (where bookmark is). when i review what i had to accept i was astonished to see a whole slew of *.g00.wowhead.com cookies, my best guess is that they are the big reason that load times on wowhead have gone down the drain(used to be max 2-3 seconds, now i feel lucky with under 10 second load time.) and screwing up cookie retention and or log cookies.
Anyhow, allowing a lot more cookies than i should seem to at least letting me be logged in longer before i get kicked out.
*edit1* Small update, by allowing cookies from *.wowhead.com and block cookies from *.g00.wowhead.com my cookie count went down from 381 to 19 and i seem to have no problem with logouts and pages finish loading in a timly manner.
only problem i have left now is i don't have access to my profile settings (other such as premium and reputation seems to work perfectly)
*edit2* switching to ptr solves the profile settings.

I have this issue, however it is occurring when opening the site using my mobile devices. This is occuring on both my iPhone and with my ATT Trek Tablet.
I am not using any ad-blocker apps.
Please advise if further information is needed.
Thank you!

OK Wowhead Staff, you know the issue is beyond serious when even SoCalWoWGal doesn't have the answer. In my 6 years of using this site, I've never seen her stumped until today. *starts crying*

Also having problems where I keep getting logged out. However it also automatically logs me back in as well. I close the website when it shows me logged out, and when I revisit it after a while (10 seconds-2 hours) it shows me logged in.
Browser: Google Chrome
OS: Windows 10 Pro

I have this logout issue as well, using Chrome and no extensions other than Adblock. Yeah, I know, but I hate adds that slow sites down and play sounds randomly - *cringe*.

We're pretty certain everyone having issues staying logged into the site is utilizing an adblocker of some sort that is conflicting with the site and resulting in cookies not being retained. If you're being required to login repeatedly and/or seeing the cookies notice at the bottom of the page, this is highly likely caused by your extensions.
So far, everyone I have assisted via email has been able to get the behavior to stop once they disabled their extensions. Unfortunately it's difficult to help when the issue involves third parties, like extensions, since we don't make them and they inherently are designed (in many cases) to interfere with the site in some manner. For clarity, please know we haven't done something to make the extensions behave in this manner, it's likely the extension itself has a bug of some sort causing the problem. For those saying they don't want ads on the site I recommend utilizing our Premium service to remove them entirely, it's $1/month or $9/year. More info here:
http://www.wowhead.com/premium
I'm sorry for any inconvenience anyone is experiencing with this issue, but I hope you can understand how it's rather difficult for us to do anything about these third party extensions or be responsible for their behavior on our site.
SoCalWoWGal:
You say you have no extensions running at all and you're having issues staying logged in? If that's the case, feel free to reach out to me via so we can try to figure out the issue. Check to see if it's a particular browser you have issues with, or all browsers and let me know when emailing. Thank you.
Reminder:
if you're experiencing an ad that is lagging your page, please click "Report Ad" below it and/or click Feedback at the top and select 'Bad Advertisement' to report it. Then, refresh your page to get a new set of ads which, hopefully, won't include the annoying one bogging the page down. I occasionally encounter them, it's almost always a flash ad of some sort, which should hopefully improve once Chrome removes support for it entirely and/or we can manage to have them removed by the ad networks involved. I personally highly dislike flash ads and can't wait for their eventual demise.(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

This has started happening to me again. I haven't done anything to my computer since I last posted and Wowhead has been behaving correctly until today. I checked Wowhead for news on my android, no problems. I logged into WoW on my pc and I searched for a pet tamer and when I clicked on the Wowhead link that google offered the "you have to accept cookies" box came up again. I clicked yes, and then tried to log in using Zam with my username and pw. It said my info was incorrect. I tried again and same thing. I checked my phone and I had no issue using Wowhead and I was still logged in. Tried again on the PC and still said wrong info. I then tried using my email and pw instead of username and pw and it allowed me to log in on my pc. I'm not sure what is going on now :/

Hmm, I don't see any issues with your account, email or username on Wowhead
should
work properly. If you still have issues directly with your account please email me via so we can work on troubleshooting the issue together. Thank you!
