Honestly, I'm one of those people that looks at macros and sees a lazy tank. Learning when the best time to use what abilities just makes you understand the game better and makes you a better tank.
This is a copy-pasta of something I wrote up on another forum that's a condensed version of this link:
http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t18771-protection_warrior_guide/
In a raid setting you have to be prot for Devastate. Your main rotation will always be SS, Devastate, Devastate, Devastate until you get your 5 Devastates on the target, and then you'll use a SS, Revenge, Dev, Dev rotation. Of course, once you establish a good rage setting where you can throw out your shouts, clap, etc. you always should, but make sure you always have the rage to shield block.
Pretty much, this would mean you'd do this in a fight:
SS
Dev
Dev
Dev
SS
Dev
Dev
Dev
SS
Rev
Dev
Dev
SS
Rev
Dev
Dev
<mix in shouts and claps here>
Some tank dispute whether you start throwing shouts and claps after the third or fourth rotation. It really depends on the fight of course, but clapping is important, although if you're a main tank it's usually best to try and get an off-tank or someone to do it.
On an infinite rage fight, of course, there is always room for heroic strikes when you can throw them in. The thing is, Devastate eliminates the need for Sunder completely, and it's instant, which means you're still getting your white damage attacks in with Devastate spam. So if you're in an infinite rage fight, you'll be mixing in Heroic Strikes to make use of all that extra rage and so you can get that extra bit of threat out of those white damage hits.
Of course, you don't always have infinite rage. From what I've been reading about, on most fights it all depends on exactly how much rage you have at the time, and what's on cooldown.
17 or more rage: Shield Slam > Revenge > Devastate
12 (or 9 when you're talented) to 16 rage: Revenge > Devastate
7-12 rage: Revenge > Shield Bash
And this is what makes tanking a challenge. In a perfect world, all fights would be infinite rage and you could just use your cycles. However, it's not like that, and good tanks know when and why to use certain moves, and that's what determines whether a tank will be able to actually do their job correctly or not, and it's what makes tanking the hardest job in the game.
Of course, pre-Outlands instances are totally different. With just decent DPS and being able to press the Taunt button, you can usually keep aggro pretty decently. On my old warrior I tanked all the way up through Sunken Temple with a two-hander.

I don't know how to fix your macro- try the UI/Macro forum.
I did have to say something though. Macros do not mean a lazy tank. For me it comes down to bar space. There are only so many slots, and for a warrior especially, there are tons of things you have to have on a bar somewhere for quick use.
Also, you never answered his question.

My understanding of macros' is that once you trigger an attack that is part of the GCD the macro will stop. I have yet to create a macro that would require it's use, but the command "/castsequence" is supposed be used to what you're asking for. Look around on the WoWHead UI & Macro Forum (
http://www.wowhead.com/?forums&board=12
) for expert opinions on this.
Macro's, in my experience, are unreliable. I have only been happy with using one, a macro that toggles between stances. I believe a better way to gain bar space is to use one of the UI mods to organize more buttons with keybinds. This will avoid the occurance of a macro leaving you flat-footed in a time of need. Good luck.
P.S. A quote from an Warrior Macro resource :
"Use this spamable macro for space saving and easy tanking:
#showtooltip
/castrandom Shield Slam, Revenge; Revenge
/cast Shield Block
NOTE: Works with dual wielding.
NOTE: castsequence did not use Revenge enough, due to lack of rage for a Shield Slam, so castrandom works much better."

i don't think i am lazy....i only have 2 macros. everything else is done manually or with key bindings.
If one were truly lazy, they would only use 2 macros x_X
Anyways, the problem with your macro is indeed that Shield Slam is on the global cooldown (GCD). You start out with Bloodrage which is the first GCD & that's fine, but Shield Block is off the CD so it works. Revenge is not available unless active, so it skips that & stops at Shield Slam, which as stated triggers the GCD.
Solution? Skip the entire macro. Use a "2-in-1" macro for Bloodrage & Berserker's Rage instead. Also, use a Shield Block/Revenge macro if you want, or simply use a Revenge/Shield Slam macro. For the latter, if you use Revenge (i.e. it is lit up), then it will require another press to force Shield Slam. If Revenge is not available, it will skip it.

I use plenty of macro's. They just aren't for combat. I looked into them at first to improve my combat performance, but they didn't. I decided to take the hours of investigation and testing required to get working, reliable macro's, and put them into practicing my skills, and stance dancing. I am no Arena threat or anything, but I know that in the end how I perform is my issue. Not another little bit of code to process. It's all I have to brag about.
My macro's are most commonly used for logistic issues. I use one to "Sharpen" my weapon before attacking. Who wants to open two bags, then click, click, when click will do.
Keybindings have been a literal gold mine. I have to, for physical reasons, use "wasd" to move. Triggering attacks with my mouse was not happening. A posting here sent me looking to set up hokeys for my attacks and it made all of the difference. All of these opinions aside, do what you like.

I hardly think the user is trying to pop Last Stand, Shield Wall, potions, healthstones, & trinkets at the same time. If you insist that, then go back to the original post.
Could have saved yourself the entire rant if you just stated the realistic difference between having a macro do something efficiently & having it do everything for you. Big difference there.

I misunderstood the original post, and took everything completely out of context. Teaches me to post when I'm tired. Sorry for calling you lazy, wasn't trying to be rude or talk down to you. Like Arideni said, I inferred that you used that macro for everything in tanking and I was confused. Again, sleep deprivation != quality posts.

Actually, I thought your post was very agreeable. I simply don't wish this thread to become a war against macros as they can, when applied properly, greatly utilize things which are otherwise inhumanly possible.

Generally, the only kind of macro I use is for space-saving needs. For example, Bloodrage & Berserker Rage (depending on stance) or an All-in-One Charge/Intercept/Intervene button (depending on combat state & stance). I use a macro for healthstones & potions (in order of priority, such as using Healthstones first, etc.) & a macro which combines both trinkets, with a "reset" so I can watch their cooldown status with the button itself. Beyond that, I use a "Shoot & Throw" ranged weapon macro. Not sure if that one is even necessary anymore.
I don't use things like Shield Block & Revenge macro, Heroic Strike & Devastate, etc. If I were playing right now, I would probably create a Berserker Stance & Zerker Rage button for fears as well as an Equip & Reflect macro for PVP. I just can't see using anything beyond these basics.

No problem & don't worry about the debate -- it's what we do here in the Warrior forums. Feel free to join in, the water is still warm.
