Evlyn Linder
New Hearthglen
"I came with the builders, when the coast had been claimed for the Crusade", she explained, feeling the quiet woman's gaze upon her back but forcing herself not to look.

"Indeed. And what inspired you to take the path of shadows. Most choose that of the Light."

The pressure was almost too much to handle, but there was no escape. And if she could not convince an inquisitor, then the teachings to which she adhered must certainly be false, right? She swallowed hard.
"I was told of a paladin so zealous in his faith that even undeath did not take the Holy Light from him. To serve as a mere puppet, being forced to do horrible things while you watch, unable to fight evil. That is cruel enough. But Sir Zeliek, he was made to call upon the
Light
to harm the forces of good. That was when I knew that we too must use the enemy's weapon against them.
...sir", she finished. The words had come quickly and without hesitation. Still, she dared not look at his face.

"...Well said," Miter told her, flashing a smile. The wind keened through the air, the trio having neared the cliffs which backed the compound. Below the dark waters crashed and raged against the ragged shore. Not far from where they stood the fortress's smithy could be seen, a dark bulk with a glowing scarlet eye of the forge.
Miter stopped near the edge and turned about to face the young woman, his hands still tucked in his sleeves, his blonde hair awhirl about his face. "Of course, some among our numbers might think that wielding any power other than the Light is a corruptible influence. That even arcane magic toes the line of what should be accepted."

"If I may be so bold, sir", the neophyte said not at all sure she
should
be so bold, "that is why we have the inquisition. To tell apart those who toe the line from those who cross it."

Samuel decided a walk down the beach was in order, despite the recent battle there, he found that the sound of waves helped to settle his mind.
Once there he spotted an orc searching a body. He put on his best "commander" face and stood tall, his plate armor lending him an imposing image. "Have a care, orc. In Northrend, the dead rarely stay dead for long." Samuel said.
"Was that too much?" The undead though to himself. "I hope not."

Another ghostly smile. "Very good." He looked out over the black ocean wracked by the storm. "You are bold, and some of my companions may not have been so willing. But we are in strange times. And I?" He glanced back to her. "I too believe in using the enemy's weapons against him."
He turned, back to the cliffs to face Evlyn. "Lady Linder. We have come no small distance in seeking our goal. We stand at the very foot of the traitor prince's realm. Do you think we can succeed with the strength we wield now?"

Thorn yelped and jumped to his feet. He whirled around, the front of the breastplate still in his hands. "Sir-er. I...This is..." He hastily saluted, forgetting he had been holding the breastplate. He winced as it clanged on the stones. He cringed. "It's...exactly what it looks like."

Feeling strangely inspired, Linder hardly noticed the other woman anymore. "I believe so, sir. But we must not fail, else we only bolster the enemy. One decisive sweep is the key to ridding the world of this evil."

"Yeah, little too much," Samuel thought. "might as well keep up the act."
"At ease." He picked up the breastplate and brushed off some sand. "Not a bad piece." he mused, handing it back to the orc. "I'll pretend I didn't see anything, if you can show me to a place where I can put up my feet."

Miter pulled his hands from his sleeves. "Exactly. Which is why I am so pleased to see your kind being accepted among the Crusade's ranks. Our enemy holds every advantage against us. Numbers, territory, supplies, and raw strength. But there is one which the Crusade holds. Has always held.
"Righteousness."
He closed the distance between them and clasped Evlyn on the shoulder. "You chose your example well. Sir Zeelik is a true tragedy, but he is an example of what strength of will can do. Even in using the power of our enemies, we can still hold true to the Crusade. To the destruction of all which stands in our path. I have every belief in you and your conviction to the Crusade, Evlyn Linder."

"Um y-yes. Sir! My aunt-er, there is an inn just over there. Let me just..."
He trailed off. Bending down he hastily grabbed the other pieces of the woman's armour and her weapons. His arms laden with the stolen equipment, he started off back towards the Forsaken town, only to pause, reconsider, and deposit all but the sword in favour of the driftwood he had been sent to gather. Weighed down, he staggered towards the gothic towers of Vengeance Landing.

Samuel followed after the orc, not offering to help carry the wood. After all, part of acting was appearance. He tried some small talk. "How well can you use that sword?" he paused, "Ah yes, before I forget, my name is Samuel."

Samuel smiled. "Well, Thorn, sticking them with the pointy end will get you through many encounters." He paused. "Joking aside, practice with that blade some and perhaps you might find yourself working for me."
Orcs were were big and strong, perfect to hide behind if the going got tough. "Yes, this one could be useful." he thought to himself.

"Er, right. Then. Sir. I'll certainly see about...doing that."
Struggling back up the earthen ramp of the fortress, Thorn made his way to the slumped and somewhat ragged looking building he had first come from. A sign hung from the front, the plank that a ship had once had its name on, adopted by the building giving the dark and sullen looking place the apt name of 'Lordaeron's Tears'. Was what it should have said, but the T was nearly effaced leaving it the 'Lordaeron's ears' instead.
Thorn paused beside the door and shifted his burden along with his weight. "Er, in here. Sir. An inn. It's not...It's kinda...It's got ale."

"Thank you, Thorn." Samuel said as he took a seat, armor clanking loudly. He hated when it did that.
The death knight relaxed, easing out of his commander facade slightly. He always found roles like that the hardest. He slipped Thorn a gold piece, "For the trouble. And an ale. " he said.

Thorn's eyes widened until they were near double the size of the coin. "Oh! Thank you sir. Let me...I'll be right back with it." Taking the coin as if afraid the other would retract the offer, he stumbled out of the room and into the kitchen.

Thorn burst into the kitchen with a gasp. "Auntie! Look!"
The forsaken spun about with a screech. "Thorn! You brat! You dropped the..." She stared, glowing eyes fixed on the coin. "Is that..."
"No time!" Thorn gasped, grabbing the cleanest tankard and hastily filling it with a thick ale from a tap. Swinging about he rushed back through the door and to the death knight's table, slamming the tankard before Samuel. He pulled back, panting from the exertion.
