Granda's eyes flashed intently. She slid her dagger back into the belt. "No," she said, sliding her pale hands into the opposite sleeves of her thick fur coat. "What do you know of that event?"

Tharvulius shifted his gaze towards the outnumbered Balrick and ran to help. Two of the kvaldir never stood a chance as his blade severed their spines. The giants exploded into seaweed and water just like the others.
He barely had time to react as a new kvaldir appeared behind him and attempted to split him in half from head to navel. Tharvulius managed to catch the blow on his sword but the force drove him to his knees, the giant bearing down on him.

"It's a...clearing. We will lose cover from the trees", Linder replied, confused.

- "Only what I was told before being sent on this mission", the death knight shrugged, still scanning the large cave for possible threats. "In Naxxramas we apperently have two dead acolytes and some damaged equipment from the backlash. My job is simply to investigate and determine if this is a threat to us"

Sybil gave the raven priestess a very unimpressed look.
"No matter. No matter," Miter said. "We can go about it if you are concerned," he told the girl.

"It is doubtful," Granda said as she walked contemplatively about the focal point of the shattered chains and ribbons of arcane. "Whatever was here did not escape under its own power. Regardless, it is to be captured. Alive. And brought to my master, the dracolich."
"Such a pity it is gone," Vespa sighed, the banshee drifting near Karan.
Granda raised her hand. Her pale fingers plucked one of the waving ribbons of mana and stretched it between her hands. Her eyes flashed over the flickering runes. "Perhaps. But it can only run. It cannot hide from me."

Balrick Brighthammer

A sword was thrown, but as anyone who has ever wielded a sword knows, that is the last thing you should do. The weapon's hilt clanged off the Kvaldir threatening Tharvulius. The giant looked down at the weapon first blankly, then in amusement, then in horror as he looked up to see Balrick bearing down on him with a stolen Kvaldir raider. With a roar the death knight flattened the giant, his momentum bearing him through the disintegrating seaweed and saltwater to slam into the weapon of another raider.
For a moment the pair locked in arms, Blarick's blue eyes glaring at the startled Kvaldir's. "I. Will. Break you!" Balrick snarled. He shuddered as a trident was suddenly rammed into his back.

"You think I am not?" Sybil asked sharply. "I am the inquisitor's personal guard. I brought him through the perils of New Avalon when the Ebon Blade scoured the lands and ravaged our ranks. Onto our ship and across the raging seas I protected him."
"Pity I had no hand in my own rescue," Miter said blandly.
Her teeth clicked as she snapped her jaw shut. Behind her helm Sybil flushed. "I did not mean..."
"It doesn't matter Sybil. We are together in this. I would not have Evlyn hold her tongue for fear I would not listen." He looked back, the light radiating from his pauldron making his features seem to glow. "Your concern does you credit. Keep an eye out. The Scourge enjoys to ambush the unwary. It is our frailties they prey on." He turned forward again, smiling mildly as he clucked his tongue sending his horse to a canter. "So we must be better than they assume us to be."

As the day wore on the wind gave in. The trees of the forest grew thick around them and blocked the worst, and the further inward the wandered the quieter the forest became. Only the clip clop of hooves echoed among the black trees, the irregular pattern hanging in the air a moment before being swallowed by the skeleton trees.
Climbing over the edge of a ditch which had once formed a river, Miter's horse put its hoof down at the bottom.
Snow exploded before him. His horse shrieked and reared back form the rotting face of the gibbering ghoul. Miter pulled sharply on the reins, forcing the horse back as the rotting fingers with bones like claws grabbed for the animal's eyes. From all along the riverbed the snow was shoved aside as more of the undead lurched from their hiding places, their shrieking moans and cries sending crows cawing in fright into the sky.
"Inquisitor!" Sybil shouted from the top of the ditch and ripped her sword from its scabbard.

In contrast to the inquisitor's bodyguard, Linder reacted wordlessly. And much slower. The carvings along her staff pulsed with shadow as a bolt of dark energy was released, aimed at the closest ghoul. Evlyn urged her horse backwards, taking aim for another simple spell.

Several ghouls turned to the raven priest as he spell blasted one of their number of its feet. Literally, the undead's leg bones remaining standing and quivering as the rest of it fell down the ditch. Howling like dogs, several ghouls leaped through the air after the raven priest.
Sybil slashed at the nearest ghoul sending its head tumbling into the snow. She kicked another away, urging her horse towards the ditch. A ghoul suddenly leaped at her, colliding and dragged her off her screaming steed with the force of its momentum. They crashed into the snow together, and her spiked elbow caved in its rotted skull. She jerked to her feet, knee deep in the snow. She held her blade on guard, her scarlet cloak fanning out behind her like she dragged a river of blood in her wake.
The ghouls before her stared through sockets empty save a pale blue light. then, with a gibbering sound too much like laughter, they surged towards her in a mass.

Blarick swung about, the trident sticking out of his back smacking a kvaldir in the back of the head. His blue eyes blazed as he stared down at the wave of ghouls washing over the icy beach. "Fine then," he growled, crouching down and picking up a second Kvaldir axe.
"Get on high ground," he ordered the mage and the others. His eyes locked on the radiant woman hovering over the battle, her spear driving on the wave of undead. "Let's see them kill me again," he growled. He began slowly spinning the axes in his hands, and began to walk forward to meet the line of ghouls.

Tharvulius nodded to the death knight, retreating towards relatively high ground. The alchemage pulled one of the glass vials from his vest. Two liquids were contained within, a small barrier between them. He tossed it towards the oncoming ghouls, hitting one directly, the liquids bursting into flame as the vial broke, consuming the ghoul and catching another on fire. "Hmm, I was hoping for three. I'll have to take matters into my own hands then."
A sphere of fire, scarcely more than an inch in diameter, appeared in his palm. Tharvulius took aim and unleashed the spell, the tiny fireball flying towards, and through, the head of another ghoul.
"That's better."

The horse reared, kicking at the attackers. Linder fell backwards, landing in the soft snow with a grunt as the ghouls tore at the desperately flailing animal. She gripped her staff tightly, its carvings thrumming as she tried to drape herself in a veil of shadows as her instructors had been trying to teach.

The ghouls plowed trough the snow, over the corpse of the horse, after the raven priest. Talons clutching, teeth gnashing. Then, quite suddenly, they paused. Four ghouls, they stood there, hunched in the snow, looking about blankly with jaws slackened as if in surprise.

Karan eyed the banshee, considering his options for a few moments.
- "My squad is at your disposal. If one can call these mindless ones a squad."
The death knight made an arcing motion with his free hand and the ghouls began to slowly move towards the edges of the cave. Karan himself made his way closer to the necromancer and darkfallen.
- "Any ideas where to start searching?"

"I do."
Granda moved her hands and the ribbons of magic followed, gathering about her in spinning circles orbiting about her figure. Her sleeves rustled and swayed about her arms to the wind conjured by the moving magic. Her arms moved, sweeping the spells about her, her eyes flashing, reading the runes inscribed within the threads quick as they came. "What was here is gone, but it left a trace. By the spells that held it I can find it."
She held up one hand over her head, palm open. The ribbons of magic twined about her, rushing into her grasp, binding and wrapping about themselves, tightening into a single sphere of rolling magic.
"A skull," Granda said, never looking from the spell she gathered above. "Bring me a skull."

Sybil widened her stance and met the ghouls with a cry of, "For the Crusade!" Her blade cleaved through the first, her shield blocking the rush of a second. Her blade seared the air, trailing the yellow glow of the Light as she fought against the tide of death. But as she met the first, the rest swarmed about her. Surrounded, she swung her blade in wide arcs, trying to keep the undead mass at bay as she floundered in the snow. But the dead cared not to die once more, and the ghouls relentlessly attacked all at once. Hemmed in, pressed, the crusader flailed at rotted faces and gnashing teeth as the ghouls sought to bury her beneath sheer numbers.
An explosion of light washed up from the ravine. For a moment the ghouls stalled in their assault, wincing and flinching as the wave of holy power crashed over them. Like a beacon the light rose in a column from the ravine, and a moment later came a rain of desiccated, rotting limbs of ghouls.
