Shot Cycling?

Im thinking about making a hunter. As I understand it shot cycling is a macro (or a human performing it inferior to a macro) that maximimes dps by doing attacks in most efficient order. If I have to chose between a shot cycling macro/memorizing a pattern I don't think I would find hunters to be a very enjoyable class. Is there a way to play hunter that makes combat more mentally challenging without resorting to having inferior dps?

Why has the hunter shot cycle received special attention and complaints than?
I do not know the details but I know people do not compare it to other class's shot cycling.

Reroll a MM Hunter and manual weave your shots.
That should redefine hard for you.
/agree
I love the challenge of weaving shots manually and not having my auto shot tick that extra 0.5 seconds. Couple that with a !@#$ty internet connection (200ms on a good day), and you have a challenge of epic proportions. =P
