Um... have you even looked at their abilities yet?
First off, "all those taunts" is inaccurate, they only have one taunt - deathgrip - which also has some pvp use in that it pulls the target into melee range.
Second, they wear plate, not mail.
They tank through spells like paladins do - frost spells to generate threat, and self-buffs that reduce damage taken so that they dont require shields.
Their combat system has very few 'melee' attacks, for the most part it will play similarly to a ret paladin in melee, with spells augmenting your basic attacks. They've also got a few weak, limited-duration summoning spells that can be used to supplement damage in pvp or pve.
They wont be invincible, the sky is not falling, quit panicking.

Speaking of being invincible and overpowered and all that, am I the only one who's considered the range on this thing to be a bit on the far side?
Deathchill (Rank 1, Level 56) - "Launches an Icy Touch at every enemy within 40 yards, dealing 4 damage per Runic Power to each target and causing a high amount of threat."
I'm imagining things like questing with a healer friend and pulling 4-5 mobs or so, planning to use this skill to keep the healer from getting aggro. BAM and every mob within 40 yards starts attacking you (unless of course you had actually read the skill description first, but I'm just assuming). Or in PvP where you could reach enemies with it that can't even reach you, even though they're ranged.
Will be interresting to see how this one works out.
I believe you can only have 100 runic power max, and it has to be built through the use of rune abilities (which take time to recharge/use, and runic power decays over time / out of combat like rage does).
So basically with maxxed runic power, which would be difficult to obtain in most 'grinding' situations... you'd only be doing 400 damage to each target - pretty low considering the damage potential of classes right now.

I'd like to remind you that it is a LEVEL 56 ability so of course it's gonna be lower, though with gear itemization I assume there will be stats and or talents which boost the damage of runic based spells.
I also think that runic power will be stored to either more than 100 and or will be easier to obtain.
Either way, death knights certainly will not be underpowered, from the amount of time and effort blizz are putting in right now to make the death knight the marketing ploy for wrath of the lich king.

With a 1min CD, so.. buh
You're going to use it, get everything in a mile radius $%^&ed off at you.. and then work from there - you're not going to be spamming it once a second destroying everything on the map

please look at unholy. specificly magic suppession and magic domination. deathknights will not be owned by mages. cheers
spellsteal!
and for shamans/priests, dispel.
These abilities reduce damage taken by spells, but dont make the DK immune to dispel/spellsteal effects.
While deathknights may have a few advantages over spellcasters, all pvp in this game really comes down to a few key things:
1. Who's the better player at their particular class
2. Where's the pvp taking place - duels are always imbalanced, 2v2 arena relies on cookie cutter team makeups, battlegrounds are more often based on your team not being idiots than on individual skill, and world pvp is decided by whoever gets the 'jump' or who isnt being attacked by mobs.

4 dmg per runic power is Rank 1 of the ability at lvl 56. Once past lvl 60, every abilities ingame get a hugh boost in damage to counter the massive stamina boost.
