A troll shaman trudges, barefoot, up the side of a volcano; the wind whipping gusts of snow up from The Crackling Plains, below. Orcs of the mighty Frostwolf Clan follow doggedly behind, guiding a team of clefthoof pulling a bulking, leather and fur covered travois. Reaching the summit the shaman stares down into the lava below, catching her breath as the wind tears at her hair and clothing. She nods at the orcs. The hardy Frostwolves position the heavy travois along the steaming maw of the volcano, removing the hides covering it's burden and unhitching the team to be led back down off the precipice. The remaining orcs crouch solemnly around the travois as wind-driven snow slides across the netherwing drake lying motionless; it's once vibrant, jewel-like facets now shadowed by death.
Raising her outstretched hands to the cold, steam-streaked sky, the shaman raises her voice against the wind "Ancestral Spirits o' Draenor, please be hearin da prayer of dis lowly shaman. I be walkin mah stables every day seein da saddest things, mon. Dem drakes be cooped up in a stall! Waddling across the ground! Never getting ta stretch dem wings, mon..." Choking back tears she clenches her fists, struggling to compose herself.
With closed eyes she breathes deeply before opening her hands to continue "Tis ain't right, dey don belon on da ground, mon. We be doin all we could mon, but this one.." she looks mournfully at the netherdrake, her mind filling with all the training and coaxing to get mighty beast to accept her, all the times she soared across Outlands on it's glowing back, all the times it whisked her to away to safety as she battled the Shadow Council in her own time line... to be lost to... this... this... lack of flying! She closes her eyes again, but the memory of her beloved companion loosing it's will to live and slowing withering away can't be escaped.
Wishing she had had the foresight to leave her other beloved flying mounts back in their rightful timeline before she stepped through that cursed portal she beseeches the sky again "MERCIFUL DRAENOR SPIRITS! DESE CREATURES BE MEANT TO SOAR, NOT WADDLE ALONG ON DA GROUND. PLEASE ALLOW DEM INTO YER SKIES!" Dropping her arms to her sides, tears streaking her cheeks she whispers "before I lose any more..."
At a desolate nod from their strange alien commander, the orcs grab onto one side of the travois and stand... toppling the once-mighty netherwing drake into the gaping maw of fire. As it falls, a shaft of sun glints off the underside of it's hide. A mocking reminder of the drake's former glowing beauty before the volcano flares, accepting the drake into it's burning heart. After a few moments the Frostwolves begin to trek back down the mountain, leaving the shaman standing alone on the precipice; the wind still tearing at her hair and clothes, the volcano's heat drying the tears streaming down her cheeks before they can freeze, staring into the molten maw.

I like walking and riding in the new expansion, it makes it feel more real and dangerous. This expansion is really growing on me and hope it will stay this good.

Just ask the fine folks on RP realms who even go one step further and use the slow walk just to enhance their fun when role playing.
OMG! That is incredible..

Nothing was stopping anyone from walking and riding in the last 4 expansions. Just ask the fine folks on RP realms who even go one step further and use the slow walk just to enhance their fun when role playing. The only thing stopping people from using the mount they want to use, is them.
omg im 100% agree with you. All these people who think its so awesome they cant fly are a damn minority! "The only thing stopping people from using the mount they want to use, is them" so absolutely true excep now theres this other little thing where i bustem my hump to adds all these cool flying mounts to my collection and there worthless in Dreanor. Everyone who wants to take there time even after finish all the zone quest can happily walk right on to wherever they need to go nobody is forcing you to fly anywhere douch

I love seeing people complain about not being able to fly. Whilst it would be handy, it is still quite fun to be on the ground exploring. Obviously a bit further down the line I will want to fly but until then, meh.

According to AZ on you tube, flight removes one's sense of immersion by severing them from the ground and making the adventures more dull and monotonous

yeah.. Nothing is more immersing then having to kill that random trash mob on the road..

it isn't about whether or not you kill the trash mob on the road, it is whether you actually bother to interact with the setting, which flying discourages. as well as immersing yourself in a challenge of attrition. attrition is an important feature of RPGs and being able to fly to any boss and solo them without wasting too many resources generally makes the epic mobs feel less epic and makes the savage territory feel a lot less savage and dangerous. if you could fly and avoid the mobs on the road, you effectively removed a large portion of draenor's dangers, specifically the dangers that potentially nothing is safe and there are few you can truly call allies. the whole vibe of the setting is about exploring an unfamiliar and savage land, you can't really have either the exploration aspect or the savage aspect if you fly. because flying would remove both and kill the aesthetic design behind the setting. so they couldn't allow flying mounts to fly.
plus, for the purpose of finding treasures, it actually immerses you by making you think and solve puzzles to get to the treasures themselves. puzzles that wouldn't apply if you could simply fly. i don't even think the Aviona's feather should have existed, because that kills the puzzle part too. a lot of the puzzles require you to actually put effort into climbing or jumping roads off the beaten path to do stuff that would be too easy if you could fly and combine it with an add on.

but WoW shouldn't have included flying mounts in the first place, because they strip them away till a specified patch every expansion and because of that, they might as well fix the zones that require you to fly to no longer require flight and remove it altogether.

Removing flight would pretty much ruin some lore
. Wildhammer Dwarves, for example. An entire clan dedicated to defending the skies in multiple zones.
Not really. Its only the players, who can't fly. Lorewise, NPCs would still do it. Just like how in draenor, the Iron Horde and Shadow Council have flying units in Draenor.
I'm not against the no-flight thingie, as long as its temporal. I sincerely hope they add it at some point in the expansion.
They already said its not gonna be on 6.1 so maybe 6.2 will be the magical number? I hope so.
To a degree, I agree with their notion that flying trivializes content, and that the world is more dangerous and less artificial if we actually have to walk everywhere. But there always comes a point in every expansion, where the sense of wonder and immersion is gone, when we've reached the point were we've seen all that the current continent has to offer, we've seen all the nook and crannies, we've seen every single hidden goodie, and platforming puzzle, we've pretty much seen the entire world upside down.
When we do reach that point, remaining grounded seems pointless and annoying, and that's when flying is a godsent blessing.
Draenor still has that sense of wonder and exploration, but its not gonna last forever, and once its gone, flying really REALLY should be added back up.
