You are right about the changes to the game, of course. And most people agree that it's been a lot of good changes.
Hard-core raiders aren't people with no life, they're just people who work harder at gaming than most. You don't have to dedicate 4-6 hours to do 25-mans and end-game. The instance will save and you can come back tomorrow.
The only issue some people have is that they're working on, or finished with end-game content and get bored. But they don't realize that it's impossible to keep up when people want to hit the end no matter what.
This game is fun for different reasons. The trick is keeping everyone happy, and that's impossible.

All excellent points. The fact of the matter is that only so much content can be created & each time a guild devours that content rapidly they ask for more. Blizzard is working hard at creating new or different encounters all the time. I think the success of 2.4 has shown that it can be done. The success of Outland in general has been proof enough that there's a lot left to this game than the old MC raiding.
The trick is to progress for fun, not for personal gain because there is none in the end.

Posting in one of the most mature topics on this forum (and many others for that matter).
I know I will never see 25 man raiding, I don't even know if I'll see 10 main raiding but I don't really care. I enjoy my character and I enjoy the game. I have a good guild to mess around with and we have fun. That's the point of the game.
I think people lose that when they are striving to be the best. I know it is nature's course but people take this video game way to seriously. It should be for fun rather then feel like work. I'm not saying if you do 25 mans you don't have a life, I'm just saying that some people have lost the fun factor and now hate the game but can't break away from it because of the need to be the strongest.
This is what it is all about. Investing in RL, not in WoW - but playing it for fun only.
One of the reasons that I was sucked into wow is game mechanics, which I consider to be somewhat piece of art. And given that I have mathematical background, I fell in love with it. I tried several classes and saw game from many perspectives. I started “researching” WoW instead of researching mathematics, like I used to before WoW. But now, I’m back to studying math, and playing WoW for fun only.
Which remind me that I have to study for an exam tomorrow.

Well the thing about wow is (or with anybody who make a decision that affects alot of people) that you cant please anyone.
For example, hunters just got fear beast increased to instance cast 30 yard range, needless to say hunters where happy fear beast finaly became usefull. Driuid on the other hand are effected most by this in a negatibe way., so whats the right? hunters who skill becouse usefull or druid who this spell effects the most?
Same with the president, there never is something that will make everyone happy. So they try to benefit the majority so that the most people are happy.
So blizz is in a hard spot, who do they cater to? The hardcore players or the casual ones?
Both pay the 15 bucks a month.
What blizz trys to do is make it so players who dont play alot can be good but ones who play a ton can be better, but they havent found the balance (and never will).
As for adding new content, why not?
The thing that is good and bad about wow is that it never ends like a normal game would but people can get the best and once your the best and everyone else is also it starts to get boring. Thats why blizz keeps making new expasions and new content.
I like the idea that you cant gank low level zones though. That would defently be a good idea.
The main point is that everyone has fun and blizz needs to find a way that casual and hardcore plays can have fun at the same time and in the same game. I persanly think they have.

I think the vast majority of players are in the "casual" category; those that play for fun, don't schedule their lives around what nights their guild is raiding, don't resemble the South Park kids at the end of that one episode, etc...However, a "casual" player may never see the inside of a raid dungeon, even with the attunements removed and whatnot. Think you can just grab 10 random people online at any given time and go raid Karazhan? You need a guild, some commitment, and the patience to be part of a 10/25-man team.
I think the fact that less than 5% of players ever saw the inside of Naxxramas speaks volumes for the direction that Blizzard would take with future expansions. They won't make it so easy that anyone can win, but at the same time, why make it so difficult that no one will ever see what you've produced? Amping up the difficulty level to "impossible" just means that hundreds of people will spend thousands of hours developing a game that only Nihilum and a few other guilds will enjoy.

I don't think there should be any restriction at all on ganking.
If you don't like it go Normal/RP server.
I admit it gets annoying, but why restrict the higher levels.
Also think of it from the "ganker's" point of view what if he was trying to save someone in his guild from being constantly camped by someone just inside the "ganking range" but he couldn't attack the lower level because of that restriction. It is fine just the way it is.
Hence Normal/RP servers.
