Hello everyone!
Hello everyone, just a bit ago I received the following information from Blizzard about their 7-Day Free WoD Marketing. Feel free to post your own comments and information on what you think of this marketing move for Warlords of Draenor and how you think it will impact the entirety of the new Expansion.
With the email was an HTML version of it, below is a mockup of the original version of the email). Hope you enjoy your free 7 days of Game time!
If anyone wants to try directly:
https://us.battle.net/account/management/wow/claim-promotion.html?promoId=SEVEN_DAYS_PROMOTION
- Yes they are giving everyone 7 days free, I've clicked the link and claimed my 7 days ontop of the subscription I have and it's bumped me up to 35 days left on my thing. I believe this will be a big boost people wanting to check things out again and try them before the expansion drops itself.
Here's the following Text that was received in the email:

I found this yesterday, I'd have to check my emails to see if they sent one through, however personally I think it is a very clever marketing move from Blizzard as it gives a chance for people who may see the release of WoD but wouldn't subscribe to Blizzard again. It gives a chance for older players to return to see what has changed and gives them a chance to level some characters, have some fun and possibly subscribe.
You beat me to posting this haha,

;p, yeah I think the more amazing part of it is the fact that users with a current subscription can still use it and claim 7-days free! ;p

Agree'd I do like how they done that, but I guess it helps get the word out, so people would be like, "OMG come check this offer out!" etc. (like this post) Word spreads fast. :)

I can completely agree with you! Infact the main reason why I posted this thread here, and on
MMO-Champion
was because of the fact that if I didn't most users would skip over the email thinking it was just for new/inactive accounts whenever it's not ;p

It doesn't surprise me that this is happening. It's a tactic Blizzard has been using to great effect (at least in my opinion). It's incredibly enticing and I might activate it for my alt account because...why not.

Well I am glad that I am able to inform users of this epic opportunity. I had this down and written out a good 4 hours before it ever hit a news post or anything at MMO-Champion (Though I didn't get a mention my goal was for it to hit the news which it successfully did.) Lets hope it can get a news post on here as well!

Didn't work on my EU account. Guess the promotion is US-only, again.

The promotion
is for both US and EU
. I have used the promotion on my EU account, not yet on my US however. Below I have provided a link to the EU and US promotion.

It's not for everyone.
I followed the link and clicked on my active account and i got this message "This World of Warcraft license is not eligible for this promotion".
Edit: Apparently Blizzard are aware of this issue so perhaps it is for everyone!
Yes Blizzard is fixing it, the link for EU is to simply switch the US to EU and it should work properly.

Well on my EU account both links also don't work. The US link says I don't have an account and the EU link says my account isn't authorized for this action because I already received free game time. But the last time I got a free day was back in 2009...

For me it dont work (EU account), it says:
"An error has occurred. An error has occurred during the creation of a Starter Edition account."
And before you ask, yes I use right link

I have a US account and didn't get anything, either. It says I've already received promotional time, which is funny, because I haven't.

You all will want to contact blizzard about it. I am sure they can assist you all with getting it fixed. This is more than likely the first time launching such a giant Promotion there's bound to be issues to occur.

I went there and said it was not available, got no email but has a US account. Maybe if you have the ongonig long term subscription they add it automatically.

"From time to time we run different promotional offers for a subset of players, but they’re generally not something offered to everyone. Which is why this may work on the accounts that were offered the promotion, and not others." - Bashiok <Community Manager>
Seems this is for both EU and US but selected accounts.
