If you decide to go Combat, maces are a better bet for the added control.
There is a
thread
where myself and a few of the other regular posters here discussed the eviscerate / murder decision. Murder is the better bet.
In BG's open on plate and mages with Garrote, and Cheap Shot on anyone else. Keep a steady rotation of stuns up, using your cooldowns when needed. Other than that, it really will come with experiece, as no two encounters will be the same for the most part.
Your best bet is to dive in and get your face mauled for a week or two until you start replacing gear, and then you'll be set.

How so?
Because you will not be on a target long enough to get the full benefit of the extra procs. I would only go with sword specialization if you plan on doing any raiding, and your swords are better than your maces.
Seems to be the general sentiment. But why? People say 2% on all white damage is better than 15 % increase on a finisher. But does murder still count against other players? I read somewhere that it does not. Also, what finisher is better for burst damage than evis? Envenom?
Eviscerate is really only an option for a target that is about to die, and even then there are several other options what would serve better overall. I have never used Envenom....ever. Worthless.

"For PvP it depends on the spec and your play style. Personally I'd rather use the points to either rupture or ks but if you are certain the target will die then I guess you could evis.... but why would you when evenom will likely do more damage due to the armor ignore."
True?
True.
Envenom ignores armor therefore more proficient when fighting people with armor IE everyone.
However you do need 4 or 5 stacks to see it work best.
One thing you need to consider is that for some rogues like me Envenom is useless. I never use deadly poison for PvP.

Really?! So you place little value in evis OR envenom?
1. What all do you use instead?
and
2. Is there any use for slice n dice in PVP? I have never used it. I'm serious. What are proper usages for SnD in PVP?
Kidney Shot is your soul-mate, so get used to that being your primary finisher. Rupture is another big one, especially on plate and other Rogues.
S&D is good when you have combo points to burn or in a group setting where downing a target as fast as possible is needed. Also, its great for poison application, Mongoose Procs, "chance on hit" trinkets, etc.

I assume that was a typo and:
Yes but rupture is a DoT and KS is a stun. (side question, does deadly poison or me hitting him break KS?). Is there another finisher that matches the burst damage of evis?
...is you replying to me.
Kidney Shot is not broken by damage. If you are looking for burst, in the Combat tree the best bet is Adrenaline Rush, but combat is really focused on sustained DPS. The best route to take is to save up some honor and go Mutilate if you want burst performance.

You should never be using deadly poison in pvp. Wound/crippling is atm the strongest combination.
