Only problem with teh ret is it's pretty much limited to 1 per raid.
you don't want too much melee DPS in the first place imo

I think, not full Retro + protection (talent to decrease Hammer of Justice cooldown) is good choise, but without a good two-hand sword(or other 2 hand weapon), you may loose to all other players, but you can buy the sword in Nagrand, haalu...Cost is not very big...
WHAT?

An additional paladin buff.
Blessing of Wisdom + Blessing of Kings + Blessing of Might = happy hunters.
Wipe-recovery through Divine Intervention.
Saves repair bills, too.
Seals on the main-target.
Keep your caster's mana up, or your melee topped off.
Cleanses.
Healers too busy keeping up tanks to cleanse disease/poison? Get a paladin on it.
+2% damage to those in his group.
Helps out the other DPS - that combined 8%-10% DPS could down a boss.
+3% crit on main targets.
Assuming you put points into Improved Seal of the Crusader.
Plus, you can shell out mad DPS with Windfury and decent gear?
Yeah, I'd say it's a viable spec.
What the green dude said. Retribution is perfectly viable, we just have a few things that could do with tweaking. And the problem with mana regen is easily fixed for Alliance paladins with 2/8 T6, Judgement of Wisdom and Windfury. I hardly ever OOM on fights with this setup.

Its more or less the mana regen im worried about chugging mana pots is like bleeding money.
My paladin is not a alchemist so I wont have the stone and without SoB giving me delicious mana what will I do ? Down rank SoC ?
The DPS Alch Stone isn't that great for a Ret Paladin. But if you are raiding Ret, there should always be other Paladins around. So having at least 1 other Paladin judge Seal of Wisdom on the Main Target will work wonders for you.
If you need to use Mana Potions, I advise Fel Mana Potions. Sure they give you a spell damage/healing debuff, but honestly if losing spell damage is going to hurt your DPS, you need to consider getting new gear. But the fact that the Fel Mana Potion is a definite amount of mana you are going to get back and that is a gradual return rather then an instant, seriously makes these things great.
Also don't let people fool you and make you take Salv as a Blessing. I typically run raids with Kings, Might, and Wisdom. I don't generate enough threat in the beginning of a fight to worry about pulling aggro.
There's no need to down rank your Seal of Command. I have always used Rank 6. Long as you have Wisdom and there is a Wisdom judged on the mob mana will never be an issue.
Oh and to answer your other question of what an Alliance Paladin's DPS is compairable to. In just a regular group set-up about that of an equally geared Shadow Priest. In an ideal Melee DPS group that of an Enhance Shaman or Slam Warrior.
