How many of you managed to get your epic flyer right when you hit 70?
I've decided to try out something. I will not go not to Outlands until I reached 60 because the gold and the XP is a lot greater there. Once I get there things will get easier as I kill too. If I continue to level my toon in the old world that will give me a great chance of coming up with the gold that I need for my epic flyer. Right now I have 570g and I'm ready to purchase my epic land mount. I'm only level 58 which is pretty dam good for my level to have this much gold especially without no help from Main since I'm on a different server and different faction. About a week ago
Nightblade
dropped for me in Searing Gorge and I haven't even sold that yet in the AH yet so I just have a huge feeling I will have just enough gold to get it. I'm kind of messing up the price on that to get about 100-150g more then it usually sells (I know I'm mean but hey it's legal) so that's why it's taking a little longer.
Anyways, I'd like to know what you did to get your epic flyer mount when you hit 70 if you did. If you got your epic flyer after level 70 I don't want to know about that since we all know the answer for that. I'm just curious to know if I'm making the right move.
Gracias

my disenchanter has 1300g at level 65, but i have my friends about 1000g total... if i spend too much time at the AH (instead of questing), i may end up with 5k gold by the time i hit 70.
my previous 3 70s did not have 5k gold by the time they hit 70. the xp comes in faster than the gold.
... although my 1st 70 paid for my 2nd 70s epic flying mount just after she dinged. does that count?
P.S. If you get more xp and gold from outlands quests, go to outlands. why are you staying in the old world???

Right now I'm questing in Winterspring. I still have alot of ther zones to go and a lot of other places to grind while I'm questing which means I'll have more items to sell in AH and more gold to obtain by the time I hit 60. When I hit 60 I will go to Hellfire and start questing.
The point of me doing the last 2 levels in the old world is obtain more gold and was wondering if it makes sense to do that? I may even get some lucky drops in the Old World who knows but I'm hoping it will give me a head start.

You would do much better in outlands, as an example, you might make 200g questing from 58-60 in outlands, but only 125g in the old world. Also, as a rule, rare drops in the old world are not worth as much now that the xpac is out, this is excluding of course twink items which will always be hot sellers. If you just like Azeroth, then, by all means, continue questing. If your looking at making money then move to outlands.

Staying in the old world doesn't make sense for making more money. The average mob in Hellfire drops more silver/gold than any you'll find in the old world, plus better drops in terms of equipment, consumables, etc. Also, the quest rewards that you don't use will vend for more money as well. If you have gathering skills and they're high enough, the materials you can farm in Hellfire are also worth more.
Conversely, I've heard others say that Outland should be started no earlier than 60 for leveling purposes. The theory goes that since there's less xp needed to get to 70, while the mobs in Outland give more XP than those of the same level in the old world, it makes sense to "save" that added XP for after the leveling is no longer accelerated. The only flaw I see in this theory is that Outland contains more quests than you can possibly complete between 60 and 70, so the sooner you get started, the more XP you will eventually get.
My personal experience: I didn't even have the Burning Crusade until I hit 60. (Up to that point, I still wasn't certain I WoW would hold my interest that long...Har har har.) Once I got TBC, I quested Hellfire exhaustively; I'm pretty sure I did every quest available. Then I did the same thing in Zangarmarsh (maybe leaving a few out). After that, I did a little bit of Terokkar, then hit Nagrand, where I did as many of the quests as I could. By this point, I'm around 67-68...I did most of the BEM quests from Sylvanar, but not many others in BEM, barely touched Netherstorm, and I dinged 70 outside of Stormspire with a ton of quests in Netherstorm still remaining. I didn't even enter SMV until I went to buy my flying mount.
Short version: Go west, young man. There's gold in them thar (Outland) hills!

I can't see a reason to get my epic flight form until after WotLK is released.
I'm not sure what the level requirement will be, but if it's set at lvl 78 to be allowed to fly again that would suck.
I can see setting the cap to 75 but 2 levels below the new level cap?
Your ideas are valid, but they are based on speculation, since:
-There is no official release date on WotLK
-There is no official word on what level/zone flight in Northrend will be available
-No one has any idea of how long the level grind will take
In the meantime, if you were to get epic flight today, it would increase your gold earning potential exponentially, being able to bounce from zone to zone doing your 25 dailies in no time flat. (That's a bit of an exaggeration, but whatever.) Chances are, you'd get back the 5200 and then some, long before the next expansion is available, and you'll no doubt need it for the new and improved gold-sink that Blizzard will undoubtedly introduce.

To all the people who are talking about going to outlands at 58. If you took advantage of the quests that still exist in Azeroth to get to 60, THEN went and did the lvl 58+ quests in Hellfire, you would hit 70 with all those quests that would have been used as XP and start getting the quest gold instead of XP for more non-daily quests. This is pure speculation, however, because I have yet to get to Outland. :P

I kind of already covered that, but to reiterate: There are more quests in Outland than you can complete between 60 and 70, so there will be no shortage of non-repeatable quests for cash.
Also, the sooner you get to 70s and start doing lots of dailies, the more money you'll make. The gold from the SSO dailies alone is absurd, and even if you do all of them every day, you could still do 10 more dailies for other factions.

I'm following a guide also. We all know "Jame's Leveling Guide" and one of the things he said was and I quote...
You can continue with Jame’s Outland guides right now, however there is another alternative:
Finishing this guide will take you halfway through level 60 or more. You are probably wondering why you should continue questing in the old world. The simple reason is that at level 70 you will want your flying mount and eventually you will also want your epic flying mount. Now all the quests in the Outlands, especially the high level ones give an awesome amount of gold at level 70 and questing has definitely become one of the best ways to make gold in the game without buying any. Doing Jame’s guides half a level ahead will make it easier to breeze through the Outland guides and will leave you with almost half a level (69-70) worth of quests to make gold. (Don’t forget, every quest you complete at level 70 will convert the experience you gain into gold)
Generally in my opinion you should not listen to people who suggest going to Outlands at level 58. I think it’s a grave mistake to waste 2-3 levels full of quests from the old world, most of which give more experience now and have been made easier with patch v2.3. Players who go to Outlands at level 58 do the quests in Hellfire Penninsula (which are much more difficult to do at level 58) and when they are done, they stand around at level 59 and don’t know what to do anymore, because all the other Outland quests are too high level for them. We had many posts on our site from people who complained about exactly that problem, so do not make the same mistake. Either start with Jame’s Outlands Guides at level 60 or if you want to make an extra amount of gold finish this guide first, then go to Outlands.
I sounds like he knows what he's talking about and I have followed his guide so far since I was level 21. I don't think he is bullch!ting us when he said assuming he has numerous characters at 70 at this point to create such a guide for both factions.
What do you guys think?
