Giving people a 90?

If someone wants to go spend that kind of money to do as you suggest, LordDrainu, I say let them. All they're doing is ensuring WoW lasts even longer.
One toon being bumped to 90 doesn't concern me and there is nothing that completely prevents me from removing terrible players that don't know their class as a result of this... in fact, there are people out there who level from 1 to 90 (or 100) and still suck just as bad.
I just don't personally see why people would even make a big deal over this.
I wasn't making a big deal over it... I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.
Tried to start conversation with like minded people.
Sorry if I have upset you, that wasn't my intention. However it seems you dislike many of the things I post about. Would it be safe to assume you don't like me then?
I typically prefer to not go off-topic but this seemed to warrant a response. This may surprise you but I have no personal feelings one way or another for 99% of the people here. My post was a personal opinion in response to a topic you put out there to discuss. I in no way feel you've "upset" me nor do I dislike you in any degree. In fact, looking back, I believe I helped you when you were considering buying an Alienware laptop. One should not mistake my moderating as an indication of my personal feelings.
So, I don't know where your confusion here is but hopefully I've resolved it.(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

I have to say this new xpac seems promising but I am so confused on why anyone should get a level 90 right out of the gate?
Does anyone else think this is a little insain? I mean for gods sake people won't have to level a new toon they would just be getting a 90 right away... you would have many many more young players and in exp tanks/heals...
I do think this is going to flood the realms with little kids. Be ready to deal with a lot of kiddies.
Why people have the assumption that young players are bad players?
I think it is almost the opposite. They learn fast and have good reaction times.
And why some people tell each other kiddies like it is an insult? You have been playing gummy bears and fluffy animals yourself, why shouldn't they play that too?
I honestly have no idea. I know two players in wow that are under 12 years old. Both of them are not only very talented players, but also very polite, and some of the best and most kind human beings I've interacted with in an online game.
Really the most rotten types of players I've met, have actually been above 30 years old.

It's okay for me. I'm lazy and I don't wanna spend time leveling.
I happen to like quest content it is so amazing. I am so into the lore and actually being a part of it. PVE is so very fun

There is a relatively fuss free way to level: archaeology. At least, after you can fly (or have a fast mount). You dig stuff, and get exp and gold. I quest in PvE for the items. (Wowhead research is my friend.)

Frankly I'm not really that bothered, some people despise levelling so much that this seems attractive, I don't particularly mind leveling and with truly bind-on-account heirlooms I may not even use my free level 90, I sure as hell am not wasting it on a character who is already level 80+ (which makes all my characters on my main realm apart from DK, who I'm just as reluctant to use it on).
I do think it's important not to allow new players access to it though. While levelling the first time may not teach you all about your class anymore (not that it ever really did imo) it still gives you a valuable insight in to how the world of MMO's work, the language used by other players and gives you a much bigger chance of feeling embedded into the world in my opinion. How to 'exclude' these newer players without putting them off is a mystery to me though.

It will be fun destroying everyone of the opposite faction in the new questing areas that don't know how to play the class, but personally I think this is a bad idea.

Good for ya. I would rather read the lore.

If you think that leveling in this game is anything but a time sink and actually learns you how to play your class, I strongly disagree! I cannot begin to express how much I disagree. Leveling in WoW has never required any skill whatsoever and is very forgiving towards mistakes.
It's just a routine which is reset with every mob you kill. The only thing separating you from a five year old is how fast you will do it.
As a person that quit this game a few years ago I look at this and see this as a nice opportunity for anyone like me to enjoy the game, but I won't even use it. Since I still haven't done any of the Cataclysm quests, I will just level up a new character together with a friend of mine, who, mind you, also quit some time ago. I'm pretty certain though that I would use the option if I had already gone through the world once (during Cataclysm), or will do so in the future to skip all the leveling and roll a different class.
I understand where you are coming from however it seems like you are overestimating the learning curve leveling provides, which to me is basically non-existent. If anything this change will make things better as players will actually be guided on how to play: something which should have been in the game from the start. I am STRONGLY hoping for Blizzard to implement these changes at lower levels as well.
Anyway have a nice day and see you on the release of the expansion :)

The
article
reads "To acquaint
unfamiliar
players with their new 90, there will be a special introductory area where players fight off the invading Orc forces on Draenor. This is in the style of the Death Knight starting area."
If we already have a lvl 90 toon, can we skip the baby steps intro?
Fairly sure this only applies to toons that were warped to level 90; not preexisting or normally leveled up toons.

This is where things changed a little with the Pandaria release, levelling was still an enjoyable thing to do, but they also added back some of the dangers that were about in Vanilla, more tightly grouped MOB's, patrol paths that crossed over, it was much easier to find yourself cornered by several MOB's with decent attack strength without even realising it. Pandaria actually bought some level of what we knew then back to the game, you actually had to watch where you were going and for the first time in a long time, mistakes could get you killed. Add to that the appearance of some 'mini boss' dungeon style encounters in the forms of quests and open world bosses you actually had a meaningful learning experience from levelling.
If they can continue and improve on what they did in Pandaria, i think the levelling experience will actually mean something again.

I am coming late to the thread, but I am all for this. I can't stand any of the pre 85 content. I have played it all ad nauseum and I am at the point that I won't level my rogue, druid or mage because the thought of going through Wrath and Cata again make me want to vomit.
I understand the next expansion will be 90-100. So being able to take a character straight to 90 sounds good to me.

I guess I kind of looked at it from just one perspective I always looked for ways to better my character by coming to sites like noxxic icy and elitests... At one point my guild leader who I am very close to told me I should just level to max then figure out what's what. So I guess tech the push is from all sides just to level. They should probably do something to stop that then. People who can blast up to 90 and join up with people who are by far superior skill wise and manage to piss them off to the max making the game even more miserable to play then it is normally. just an opinion...

He meant, if I already have a 90, and boost toon B to 90, can I skip the intro on toon B.
The answer is 99% certain to be - No!

Ahh yes, good point. Besides, you should still have to do it because this would presumably be a new class for you that just magically became 90. Unless you had another 90 of the same class I suppose but I highly doubt Blizzard is going to add a mechanic in the game to exempt those few cases.

I see it the same as the starting zones. Yes, I've already made dozens of characters and leveled them through the starting zones. No, I don't get to skip it just because I've done it before.

I wish they had a way for xp to cascade to other alts. When my lvl 100 toon completes a quest, I could choose to receive the xp and just bank it away. My other toons could access the extra xp for leveling. I don't need to see the same quest lines over and over and the xp would still be earned.
Maybe a zone token like the MOP rep tokens. Once one toon gets the achievement for questing in that zone they get a permanent xp boost for their account while in the zone with any toon.(##RESPBREAK##)2060##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##HI there.
