Growing Frustration on Timeless Isle's PVP players strategy to flag PVE players

World pvp is really fun, and really rare on a pve-server so embrace it when it happens.

For the last few weeks something has been happening on Timeless Isle that is annoying to say the least. I am on a PVE realm and PVP players keep attacking/killing me. It is definitely not accidental but intentional! The mobs there are tough. While concentrating on killing them, PVP players get in your way, eventually get hit and then attack you usually by back stabbing. You don't even realize you've been flagged until you start taking extra damage and by then it's usually too late. This is total BS! I've saw it happen to other players quite frequently also. If I'm on a PVE realm I shouldn't have to watch out for all the PVP a holes! If I decide to go PVP on Timeless Isle it should be my choice.

Just need to start paying attention to the world around you.

I do pay attention but I'm concentrating more on the mob. It's no accident

Of course it's not an accident; that's why Blizzard is changing it come Warlords...but until then, world awareness is needed, especially in places like the Timeless Isle; but no different then Isle of QD or the Molten Front.

It is usually possible to watch out for these toolbags, and down your mobs without flagging, it just sucks. They will follow behind you and wait until you've started your attack, and then jump in and attempt to get hit. Or a rogue will sneak in and get hit when you think you're safe.
It's even worse on my Disc priest, where a random smart heal will tag a flagged person nearby while I am attacking Huolon or healing a Cele run. Boom, I'm flagged and have to defend myself against all the PvPeenitards who are on the lookout.
I play on PvE realms so I don't have to watch out for PvPeen Enthusiasts trying to gank you.
The Hardflag cannot come soon enough, but frankly, it should have been implemented a long time ago.
All that aside, if your PVE AOE is really tagging them, they need to fix it.
They are fixing it in WoD. But by then Timeless will be a wasteland anyway.

Pve aoe? As apposed to pvp aoe?
It's working as intended. Why should blizz fix this? it's always been this way.
If you attack a flagged player, regardless if it is intentional, then you will be flagged. Nothing new is going on here. I don't understand the confusion or gripes in this thread.
The problem people discovered with the situation on the Timeless Isle is that AOEs can be kind of dumb about picking targets. There were several that Blizzard instituted fixes for in the weeks following patch 5.4's release, but some people reported problems with abilities damaging pvp flagged opponents and flagging the caster even if the caster was not targeting the pvp opponents.
There was a similar problem with smart heals selecting a flagged target and flagging a healer who wasn't intending it.
People also had issues with the few remaining abilities that auto-target picking pvp flagged targets if their intended mob target died right as the button was pressed.
Basically, the circumstances on the Timeless Isle (multiple, non-tagging, high desirability PvE targets) led to interactions that just aren't seen in most other areas of the game. Blizzard addressed some of the coding issues, but it brought to light that people who never, ever want to pvp don't have 100% control over that because of coding on some abilities flagging them against their will. The complaints that arose because of this are why the flag hard toggle is coming in WoD.

PvP should be kept to PvP realms, world PvP is dead for a reason so don't try to force that lame crap on everyone else.(##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##I get the point you were trying to make but that analogy just isn't appropriate.

Exact same thing was happening during the Barrens event. An Alliance player would stand on the corpse of the boss and get clicked on - then they and often a couple of friends would kill anyone who inadvertently flagged themselves.
Not sure what the purpose of this was, besides the lulz, on a PVE server. Just couldn't cut it on a real PvP server, I suppose. *shrugs*
I'm not sure why simply being respectful of the fact that folks who choose to play on a PvE server are not looking for "world PvP" is such a difficult concept to grasp. Fortunately there are few of these morons and many of the rest of us so you just workaround and keep playing.

I wish this was only a Timeless problem, but apparently these people have learned that they enjoy surprise flagging and ganking people who don't want to be.
I've seen similar behavior all over Pandaria, while trying to hunt some rares. Once the fight starts the creeps drop down directly in front of you.
Recently leveling a couple of different toons and I've had several PvP flagged idiots jumping front of me trying to get hit. One was in Silverpine, a lvl 90 Mage was trying to get someone in my level 20-ish party to click on him; another was in Teldrassil, just outside the town areas, a lvl 83 Orc DK was trying to get me, a level 4 priest, to flag so he could gank me.
There was also lvl 90 Nelf druid. in Dragonblight.
It seems that these sad, pathetic individuals are everywhere, and we will just have to manage until the hard flag drops and ruins their "fun".

No it isn't. World PVP is a myth. It is amazing to me that 6 months after Vanilla was released how many people where whineing about how there is no longer any world PvP in Hillsbrad.
World PvP is nothing then a people corpse camping those that do not want to participate.
But with that said, I love it when people try to "trick" me into PvP on the Timeless Isle. I take them down and then patrol around looking for them.

Not being very tech savvy, how hard would it be for blizz to make it impossible to hit a player or oppposing faction npc on a PvE server unless you manually flagged yourself for PvP.This would solve all these issues.
Yeah another MMO (I think it was RIFT?) had an option which completely prevented you from flagging for PVP.
It was full-on protection, going as far as to make PVP-flagged teammates invalid targets for your heals/buffs.
It was great, for those of us who think MMORPG PVP is trash and play them purely for the PVE (and possibly get our PVP from more skill-based and less gear-based games.)
