I'd say this is one of the methods if you specked fully into affliction tree. Great for grinding things. I love to grind spiders in Nagrand or Fire Elementals in Showdowmoon Valley.
Another technique that is also very efficient that I used while I was leveling is with a Fellguard. Put 41 points into demo to get him and also a few points int other talent that gives him mana when you life tap. The rest goes into affliction tree. So i just Dot mobs one at a time, and Felguard is on a defensive mode takes them out one a time after I DOT them. Your DOT do slightly less damage because you're not fully in affliction, but demo tree gives you additional spell damage and Felguard does tons of damage, and cleaves more mobs if he's surrounded by a couple.
I drain the last mob after I'm starting to get low on life and mana. You're life also lasts longer since you share damage with Fel Guard through soul link. Very efficient, and at the end you're full on health and mana, you just heal him up with bandage or health funnel and repeat.

Nefarion,
Im going by your guide.. just a quick question.. i just started playing WoW about a week ago and after reading several guides i just had one question i would like your opinion on. And FYI im at lvl 23.
At the starting build you have 2 points in Suppression. Would it be better spent if you put it in Improved Drain Soul?
2/5 Suppression gives you a extra 4% chance that your spells wont be resisted.
2/2 Improved Drain Soul would give you 15% of your Max mana if killed while Soul Draining(not often going to be used i know) and more important, your spells would generate 10% LESS threat.
Just something i thought i would ask you and anyone else who may be reading this guide...
Thanks!

Those 2 points are just filler. The less threat is useless while farming because who else is gonna fight you for aggro. The extra mana is nice but rarely will you kill something with soul drain on.(you will be dotting other mobs.)I find it useful for mana efficiency and threat reduction on instance trash (drain soul as the last mob of a pull is about to die) or for draining soul on the last of 3 DoTed mobs in an iHoT multi-mob pull.
I'm not sure about losing Suppression, I've leveled with 3/5 in it after lvl 27, and I feel like I'm spoiled when I have to solo high level mobs on a quest.
BTW I'm using the spec from the Blizz forums:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=12051516&sid=1
Obviously I stumbled upon them before wowhead. I'll definitely be using Nef's 43/7/11 at 70 exactly as he has it described. It's an amazing spec that appears to be viable in BOTH PvP and PvE, at least for a fresh 70 that hasn't geared up yet.

When deciding the order of points, plan to get these talents ASAP: Soul Siphon, Fel Conc, Dark Pact, improved HoT, Unstable Affliction, and Haunt. The rest will fall into place, but give maxing those talents your top priority.

I totally agree! There's been many changes and I feel lost in leveling my lv25 Warlock.. I understand afliction is the way to go as far as leveling up but I'd greatly appreciate any advise on where to put the talent points. Thanks.
I thought I had a handle on the drain tanking concept but patch 3.0.2's changes have me a bit confused. I feel a bit under-powered now, a sentiment I see echoed quite often. Should I be concentrating solely on Affliction? Is my VW still viable at level 41? And should I be concerned about stats other than stamina? Those are just a few of the very general questions I have following the most recent patch.
