I'm not sure if this is me being a jerk or not but here goes...I got PST from a lowbie in the area i was questing in who needed a little help with a stronger mob than he could handle. I was just wasting time anyway so I said sure no problem. He then asked if I could help him for a while... which turned out to be QUITE a while. I left after about a half an hour saying goodbye and being pleasant. For the next few WEEKS, every time I logged on, I would get a plea for help from him. The first few times I helped for a little while but I couldn't get him to understand that I wanted to play for a while doing the things I needed to do. I ended up putting him on ignore. I felt bad doing it but it was getting annoying.

I don't think you were being a jerk. I have had the issue myself, where I helped someone once, and then they wanted me to help them all the time. I don't mind helping people, but I want to play the game myself too. I eventually got better at just saying no, and not feeling bad, but I always felt bad saying no to people in the beginning.
On Topic:
I have three recent ones. One was done by my guildies, one was done to a very new player who was an acquaintance of mine, and one was done by someone I suspect has some serious mental health issues.
1) Apparently (since I didn't play, and this was told to me second-hand), early on in vanilla, it was possible to summon people with a lock stone in such a way that you could send them into lava, over a cliff, etc. Blizzard then fixed it so that the person appeared where you were standing, and so you couldn't kill them anymore with a summon. Well, with the addition of the Monk, and their ability to hover while working things like warlock stones, my guildies discovered that they could once again summon people over the edge of a cliff. So they sent someone to trade to advertise a sha run, then invited people to group and summoned them to the edge of a cliff in the vale, where they dropped off the edge and died. They got 4 or 5 before people went back and let out their scheme. I hate to admit it, but it was kind of funny.
2) A low level- and I believe very young- player who had started chatting with me because I bought a lot of things from him on the AH, was telling me he was going to some kind of in-game dance. I didn't think much of it, even though we're not on an RP realm, because guilds do goofy stuff like that all the time. He was really excited, and was spending decent amounts of gold (for his level) on getting the formal clothes or tuxedo or whatever it was made.
A few hours later, I hear from that he was really pissed because people started ganking at his dance. Apparently, they had held it at Gurubashi Arena. Basically, someone had convinced a whole bunch of inexperience players to get into RP clothes (so they had no gear with which to defend themselves) and congregate in a PvP area so that they could be slaughtered by their own faction, and the opposing faction. I have to say there was some real ingenuity in that, even if it was a jerk move. I ended up giving the kid who was upset the money he spent on the clothes so he wasn't broke as a result of this, but I think he quit the game shortly after that.
3) There is a player on our realm with a couple of alts, who is really bad at all of them. My guild pugged his priest in a prior run, and he was abysmal. So when they were pugging a few weeks ago, and he whispered looking for an invite for MV, they declined. They tried to be polite about it, and spare his feelings. When he asked to go on his priest, they told him truthfully that they needed DPS. When he asked about going on his rogue (who at 90 was still wearing a mix of MoP greens, and PvP/PvE epics from level 85), they said they wanted a ranged DPS. He then informed the person he was talking to that he had a friend in the guild who he opened lock boxes for all the time and so he better get this invite or the whole guild would be black listed from his services in the future (for the record, the "friend" was me, who ONE time asked him to open some lockboxes when he was advertising the service in trade, and tipped him for it, and happened to have a small conversation afterwards). After they told him they couldn't bring him, he proceeded to individually whisper "Go F---- Yourself" to every person in the guild, of every level, then put them on ignore. He did this for hours- 3 hours later, new people were logging in, and asking why they just got that random whisper. To be honest, I think this counts as more of a psychotic move that a jerk one, because to accomplish it he'd have had to be refreshing /who for hours to catch each new person as they logged in.

I was questing on my lvl 56 Fury Warrior, full heirlooms except for the ring. I was in the Blasted Lands, killing the big green core hound. I forget his name. He was at about ~20% when my screen went white and I dropped dead.
An Alliance Boomkin (level 90) thought it would be funny to 1 shot me right before I killed the quest mob I needed.
I considered logging onto my own level 90 Alliance Druid and sending him a scathing message...but it's a PvP server. I don't get worked up about getting ganked unless I get needlessly camped for 3-4 deaths in a row. It happens.
Still a jerk move, though.

Have had this exact same situation. Started off feeling quite good for helping a new player, but after several weeks of this constant harassment, ended up "telling off" the kid in whispers before finally adding to ignore list.
Some people don't teach their kids that everyone else in the world doesn't exist to serve them the way their parents do...

So I don't have many, because I'm a nice guy, but I was tanking on Lei Shi in a LFR group a couple weeks back and the off tank was in like PvP gear (gag me) to begin with. Whatever, though, we proceed because I guess that's ok. Anyway, when my splash count is continually going past 12, 15, 18. So I start whispering him to taunt when I hit 9. He's like not even registering on my omen he's so far off the aggro charts.
So then someone in raid starts telling me to stop aggroing the mob. So I proceed to let Lei Shi go and start splashing the next in line for aggro who happens to be sitting in the raid. So they all get splashed. Then I taunt him back (cuz I'm nice) and this same dude yells at me again for taking aggro back lol.
So when Lei Shi pops back up I let the other tank pick up aggro, let him go to 20+ stacks and die and then I pick him up so we can get through another Hide. Then the off tank gets rezed, I let him pick up aggro and let him stack up and die again. Then we won. Kinda a jerk move, but he wasn't doing anything anyway, so might as well use him as a human shield, lol.

@Craz- I wouldn't call that a jerk move. I call that a creative use of resources- lol.

Every once in awhile there's a town beggar asking for gold. So one time i opened trade with them and typed in 5000g then later hit cancel and said just kidding.

NUKEGANKDIEKILLBUBBLEHEARTHEMOTETROLL.
What? After the sha of anger wiped the hordies me and the rest of my raid took the sha and flew off.

I once killed 3 58lvl hordes when they passed Dark Portal on my rogue. I killed them about 6 times.
2 minutes after last kill there came 3 90lvl hordes so I ran away.

Are ALL you Alliance players the same... wait until we are defenseless and then attack? I have had that same experience myself.... killing 2 or 3 mobs and getting ganked because i was so engaged.. whats up with that?

First, this thread makes me understand why everyone hates on the WoW community. It looks like a "I'm the biggest ^&*!@# bag thread." How about we start focusing on the good things we do in WoW to help the newer players out, or even veterans who might need a little help getting something crafted. Time to grow up folks....the world doesn't like !@#$%^bags....
That being said....

If you are going to bully lowbies, don't be a coward and run as soon as some competition shows up. You sir, are a coward.when working on relic hunter, i checked for
Cache of Pilfered Goods
and there was a lvl 90 alliance near it killing the virmen so he could loot it. so i swooped in quickly and take it infront of him. and moved on looking for more.
Hey MoP is all about the Horde/Alliance war, why would i be nice too the enemy (+ pve server so he couldnt even attack me anyway )
So brave on a pve server where all the shenanigans like this cant get you roflstomped. Come on over to my pvp server and see if you can get away with it. You sir, are a coward as well.

Did you not read the post about the horde stealing the cache from the alliance player, or is that okay in your eyes? There are punks on both sides of the fence who think these actions are "fun and okay, cause after all, we are at war" but then run when someone who can put them in their place (pvp servers) or never flag (pve servers). If you want to be a jerk to someone, have the guts to face the repercussions.

One of my servers is a PVP server, and life there means you may get ganked. I have no issue with any that one shot a lower level and go, I like you said there believe that if you are going to do it several times stick around for the consequences. It is nice when you have a guild that is good about defending you in the proper circumstances as mine did some time ago. I was questing in the badlands and got oneshotted by a level capped player. I ran back and after the third round, I asked guildies to assist. That player stuck around and started some nice openworld PVP for a bit of time.

Love how angry people get by hit and runs. I play a rogue, it's my job to gank, vanish and steal chests in front of you.

So you call me coward eh? Have you seen what hordes are doing at GS? they low level guys who has pvp flag on... And I'm one of the protectors. (Well i werent in GS and I knew these hordes so...)
And wouldn't you ran away when 3 90lvl hordes are coming to kill you?
Nope. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I can hold my own against 2 members of the opposing faction. Would have been a fun challenge. I know myself and my friend (ele shammy and frost dk) have taken on 4 ret pally, resto druid, and a warrior from the opposing faction for almost an hour with only 2 deaths each in their base at the new rep area.
And as for the lowbies running around flagged....you get what you deserve.

HIt and runs don't bother me. Same lvl jumps dont bother me. What bothers me is when someone of much higher level sits there and camps you for 15+ minutes killing you every time you spawn, and then runs away when you call in some help.
If you don't have the guts to fight people your level, then you don't need to screw with people who are under your level. It's that simple.

The other day, I was finishing up the Golden Lotus dailies in the Vale when NPCScan alerted me that Kang the Soul Thief was nearby. I hit the icon to target him and found surprisingly he was still at full health, so I quickly landed and tagged him. I was immediately mobbed by at least 5 other characters sending me invites and begging in both whispers and /say to share credit for the kill. I declined all invites and finished him off, the memory of being similarly rebuffed when trying to invite people in similar situations while working on my recently completed Glorious achievment fresh in my mind.
After the kill I looted the corpse and /danced after receiving a couple nasty whispers from people claiming that was their last rare left for Glorious. I pointed out their camping fail and continued on my way.
What happened later that day wasn't so much of a jerk move but did make me feel better about taking the Kang kill for myself. I later ran into Kal'Tik the Blight as I was doing archaeology and after peeling off some adds got the tag. Almost immediately the vultures arrived; there were at least 5 or 6 players hovering above me waiting on me to die (which I almost did after running into a tornado with Kal'Tik at about 20%). After the kill I again received a couple of nasty whispers... not sure why, because that time nobody bothered to try and invite me to a group.

Ah ok fair point. I'm up for the occasional gank but I won't spawn camp. Far better uses for my time.
