"It's not your fault," Snowmane replied. "With the kind of library I had, most of the books I hadn't read are either not in Common or extraordinarily rare."

"That is very kind of you." He hesitated an indecisive moment before putting tentatively forward, "I'm certain that...that you will be able to access some of those volumes when...when you arrive in Dalaran."

"That would certainly be a pleasant surprise," Snowmane nodded. "Is there anything you're looking forward to in the city?"

Varyn paused contemplatively. "...I...suppose the library, as well. Though I do know a few who reside within the city I would enjoy visiting."

Following the worgen inside, Varyn peered around for the lamp or a patch of sunlight which might assist in their works.

The world jumped.
Standing by the table, Damocles carefully scratched in a few last minute notes into a thick book. The manacles about Malice's wrists and head were removed, freeing her upper body though the legging remained firmly closed. The Light Stones were angled just beyond her reach, aimed towards her expectantly and the void stone resting upon her chest, the ribbon wrapped about her neck.

Snowmane conjured a ball of light in her paw to help find a lantern.

Malice sat up, in a fairly bad mood, and experimentally condensed a ball of fel in her hand.

The lantern had remained hanging on its peg though had gone out. Opening the small glass door, Varyn lit it again, casting the hold in a soft yet warm glow.

Fel flames flickered into Malice's hand.
As the air grew slightly heavier with the magic, Damocles paused in his work and straightened. Without even looking back he reached into a pocket and produced a metal locket. "Are we really to go through this again?"

Stowing the item back in his pocket Damocles turned to face her, the eyes above the collar unreadable. "It is fortunate I anticipated that and do not expect otherwise." Reaching back, he pulled forward the book he had been writing in and flipped to a particular page. "Subject 829, formerly known as 'Mary Susan Lansen', resident of Stormwind, Old Town, bakery since demolished. Married. Husband, two children including one Tandred and one Nyria. Kidnapped by a warlock by the name of Dag'Rema. Soul stone," he added, pointing to her chest, "appears to have been an intended vessel. For the warlock or other party: subject did not know. Body composition: solidified fel energy. Unstable.
"Abilities: Fel magic. Self destruction, regeneration only with sufficient supplies of unresistant life forms or fel magic. Weakness: Light. Stone level for instant incapacitation: four. Anti-magic. Loses cohesion without constant supply of fel magic."
Damocles turned to another page and continued. "Increase in levels of fel confuses subject. Multiple personality disorder probable and unstable temperment. Prone to hysterics. Recommendation: use of void stone to keep fel at manageable levels."
He snapped closed the book. "Etcetera, etcetera." Depositing the book back down, he strode to the side of the table and looked down, arms crossed behind his back, slowly turning the small locket containing his personal lightstone over and over. "First file of twelve documenting history, abilities, regenerative qualities under varying conditions. I have little doubt to the certainty of this information."

Feralas
Vashadya frowned, going over the story in her mind. She had the feeling she ought to have heard it before, it seemed familiar somehow, but at the same time she could have sworn she had not. The priestess regarded Adalis puzzledly, "the sparrow is Nightbane?"

"If I had to guess, it was probably a literal sparrow," Dag'rema suggested, shrugging restlessly. "If the rest of your Night Elf pantheon is anything to go by, but you would probably know more on that topic than I."
Gurka grunted and passed through the columns, looking for what they were guiding her towards.
Kitanga couldn't tell if her effort had helped at all, and so she immediately began to plead with the Spirit of the Wilds next. Perhaps it would know what to do.

"Means have been considered," Damocles informed her in a tone suggesting he cared little if they succeeded or not, replacing the book on the table. "Subject 829 has no body, therefore the method of 'fixing' you are limited. Either constant use of void stones to ensure regular levels of fel, an artificial body created to store the stone, or," Damocles turned with a scalpel, "possibly the fracturing of your mind in order to better harmonize it. Throughout the study, you repeatedly seemed to cycle through varying temperaments, and it is quite probable that it is the result of warring personalities resulting from your trauma and infection with fel. Any attempts at conversing failed due to corruption of speech and rambling due to pain.
"The first two efforts will be attempted. The artificial body failed due to excessive levels of fel magic corrupting the substance. Use of void stones is ongoing. Any pertinent information on your abilities has been quantified. You are a PT level 5, a TT of 1. A question, however, remains," Damocles loomed over the table, looking down with the even edge of a knife at Malice, "why should any resources be put into a 'fixing' you?"

Settling down, Varyn passed the following few hours engrossed in his book, merely the thin rustle of pages any indication he remained in the world of reality. Lamplight threw his shadow against the barrels, and it was only when the noise of footsteps above deck along with excited and mystified sounds grew too much to bear that he finally glanced up with an annoyed look.
His closing of the book made a clapping sound in the silence of the hold. "What is going on up there?"
