Taking the human's arm the troll rolled back the sleeve and held it over the cauldron. Pressing the blade against the top of the arm, the mask turned to the mage. "Ya need somet'ing ta bite on, mon?" Varyn shook his head, not trusting his tongue to speak. The troll shrugged and not ungently pulled the knife against the mage's flesh. Varyn gasped as blood flowed from the cut, curling down to the underside where it hung, suspended for a moment.
The first drop fell.
Smoke exploded from the cauldron to form a pillar. The shadows grew darker. The world seemed to shrink, the walls looming up as though the roof were being drawn into eternity, taking the fetid green smoke with it to worlds beyond. Blood continued to flow into the concoction below, Varyn swaying, lightheaded from the smoke and loss of blood, feeling as though the cauldron were trying to draw him in, feast on what it had only tasted so far. The idea felt hideously appealing. Only the troll's grip kept him from falling headfirst down into darkness.
He fell against the wall when Samdi suddenly released him. Immediately the troll began to move about the cauldron, whispering and stamping his feet like a drum. The whole room reverberated with the sound of his voice, zandalari letters dripping as they began to spiral from the waters and about the plume of smoke. Voices came from everywhere now, following Samdi as he danced about the cauldron, at one point nearly bumping into Snowmane, but he didn't notice. He was lost in ecstasy of the magic, the mask looming out of the hazy air of the room, the wooden mouth wavering as though moving, speaking, whispering. The troll slashed his own arm, still moving as he bled, sending the scarlet droplets shimmering and scattered into the mixture, a hiss of steam accompanied each one joining the foul mixture. The smoke began to turn from green to blue.
The ritual grew and grew in volume and violence. Varyn stared at primeval scene, blood pounding in his ears like jungle drums. Something primal and fearful in it, like the beating of the world's heart. Growing, twisting, primordial, the sound grew louder, heavier, it seemed miraculous the walls did not crumble in their attempt to contain the magic within.
Then, it suddenly stopped.
A moment came, eternity in its silence, everything frozen as though in anticipation. Samdi suddenly stomped once more. And the world exploded in blue light.

Varyn slowly lowered his arm. Blinking against the black dots which filled his vision, he stared at what had been conjured. Rising out of the cauldron and composed looming smoke was the face of a high elf, cold and austere as royalty. Her eyes burned with blue flames of indignation, her lips a hard line.
"What is this? Who would dare?" she demanded, the room growing colder in an instant.
"Miss Isabella," Varyn greeted, bowing his head. He soon realized the error when his vision swam and he pressed a hand against his forehead.
"You?" the visage demanded in shock. It was passing as her eyes narrowed shortly thereafter. "Wizard, why have you called me?"
Varyn leaned slightly on a shelf, keeping his voice low and diplomatic. "Madame...I have found myself in...something of a...a quandry. My...Miss Snowmane, here, is being pursued."
"Oh?" The visage did not even glance the worgen's way. "And why is her problems concerns of mine."
Varyn gulped. "I...I would like to call in a favour."
The room grew even colder. The burning eyes narrowed dangerously at the presumption, but faded just as swiftly. The visage seemed visibly annoyed more than actually angry, as though reflecting on some error, and facing a punishment they had not anticipated. "...Very well, Brighthammer. You!" she ordered to Snowmane, unable to look away from the grateful mage quick enough. "What is your concern? And speak quickly! I have no patience for mortal's personal squabbles."

Damocles Rex, Subject 67, Vaudeville

In the darkness of an alley, space rippled and tore, Damocles stepping back into the world, several small items cradled against his chest. He peered about suspiciously as the other two emerged behind him. Turning to them, the trench coated figure held out his hand, revealing a dozen citrine gems, runes delicately carved in the facets.
"Here," he ordered, pushing six each into 67 and Vaudeville's hands. "According to that portal they are somewhere in this place. Based on what we know so far, odds indicate they would have departed by now."
67 gingerly took the gems between his claws. He sniffed them. "Oooh, a Time barrier eh? Sounds fun. Wait, then...why are we setting this thing up?"
Damocles glanced up from beneath his collar. "Because we are not here for them. We are here to fix the odds." The ParCon agent slowly drew forth a long silver chain.
67 swung his head about, as if confused. "What...what is that?"
Damcoles tapped the dark, deadened crystal with a tip of his finger. "A proof to a theory."

Snowmane was rubbing her head, trying to recover from the disorienting light. "Uhhh..." she began, her inebriated mind trying to sort through the sloshing sea of concerns that she had to find the one Varyn had summoned this lady to deal with. "Well, first and foremost, there's some kind of time police organization trying to kill me. I think that's whay Varyn summoned you to deal with at any rate."

The image raised a sharp brow. "ParCon? Hm. How foolish," she said turning back to Varyn. "It wold be best you abandoned this fools errand and the fool with it now, before you earn their true ire. Such organizations do not take kindly to interference."
Varyn shifted uneasily. "Is there...nothing you might do which can aid us?"
Rotating back, the vision of Isabella stared at the ceiling for a moment. Then she sighed and looked back down unwillingly. "Very well, if you insist on pursuing this, I may be able to aid, if indirectly." She looked straight down on the two. "I know of one who may be able to help you. He is my...cousin, of sorts. He lives in the Dragonblight, in a cave below the Bronze Dragon Shire facing Wyrmrest. He will not be easy to reach, but if anyone can lend some form of aid, it is he."
Varyn bowed his head. "Thank you, Miss Kaufman."
The visage curled a lip in distaste. "Yes...well, I do this neither for you, nor her. And do not call me by that name. I'd rather not be associated with the other who bears it."

The mage flushed a little and smiled awkwardly. "I-I just like to help," Varyn replied automatically.
"I see I am no longer needed," the visage said, face as poised as a mountain of ice. "Troll!" she commanded of Samdi. "Dismiss this spell!"
With a jump and a nod the troll barked something in Zandalari, sweeping a hand over the cauldron and through the smoke. Seeming to have severed the spell the magic dispersed at once, the remains of the smoke spiraling into the ceiling and dissolving the face of the high elf.
" 'Ere mon," Samdi said taking Varyn's arm. "Let me fix ya up real quick me bruddah." The troll began passing his hand across human's gash, the skin closing up with each pass.

"You really don't need to be calling in favors for me," Snowmane answered. "I'm sure if your feeling charitable, there are people who deserve it more than I do," she stated flatly.

Varyn stuttered, staring at the white worgen in abject confusion. "B-but...I...I didn't know what else to do...I...It s-seemed to...I...I'm...sorry..." He looked down, holding his head in a hand as a headache began to beat within his skill, ashamed, not sure what else to do or say to placate the worgen.
Samdi snorted as he finished on the mage's arm. Giving Snowmane an angry glance through the slits of his mask, he immediately began healing his own arm, which was crisscrossed with all manner of scars. "Ya be a cold one, sistah."

"I'm not trying to be ungrateful, honest," Snowmane answered, holding her hands up defensively. "I'm just ashamed to see someone try so hard to save my life when really I'm not even sure I..." she trailed off, sighing. "I just don't want to inconvenience someone else when there's a good chance it won't mean anything anyway."

"I can understand that..." Kitanga sighed. "I don't know what to do. My sister is dead set on killing me, my future alternate self is dead set on killing her, and I don't know what I'm supposed to say or do to make it better."
Gurka ran her hand through her hair, momentarily letting down her ponytail to get out the tangles. She took a deep breath and looked up towards the sky before finally sighing.

"Five years ago my liver failed and my nephew had to donate part of his so that I could live," Snowmane answered, shrugging. "Since then, I don't think I've gone a day without considering suicide..." she paused. "Why would you work so hard to try to save my life?"

Varyn looked away. "...I...I don't know..."
Samdi laughed and clapped the mage on the back. "It because ya a good man, me bruddah!"
The mage smiled weakly at the troll's reassurance, but his face soon fell again along with his head. "...Someone once told me its because I only find value in...in what other people give me."
