Kalina Brayton
Elwynn Forest
Kalina coughed. "Accidentally," she replied truthfully to the elf, still confused and disoriented. "Tried scaring the dogs away."

"This wanton death was a

?" Lyshalis replied with missbelief.

"What?" the young human asked insecurely, now for the first time really taking in the obliterated surroundings. "How the fel...

"Saved us, didn't it?" Kalina scoffed. She was starting to become irritated by the rest of the group's general lack of appreciation for... anything, really.

"You could just as likley killed us in the blast, like how you burned the nature here." Lyshalis counter-argumented. She was starting to get annoyed with the humans care-free reaction to her destruction.
Is this why magic was banned?

"Considering the circumstances, I vote we head for the river," Gregg chimed in, "before we get attacked by an army of half-baked guardsmen."

"Sure." Lyshalis spooke agreeingly and noded, not having any beter ideas herself at the moment.

"Thank you, Gregg, for being constructive," Kalina said rather gratefully as she attempted to get up on her feet.

Gregg took a step back, managing to stumble over Nimrod in the process. The dwarf was lying face-down in the ash, unmoving.

Lyshalis eyes turned to the paladin. "Nimrod?" She said with concern of his health.

After a lengthy silence a muffled "yeah?" came from the dwarf.

Dead silence.
"I think we should get going," Gregg suggested, changing the topic.

Westfall
After a short, damp, river crossing, the group had found itself on the far bank of the river, where the grass began to turn yellow and coarse. With the exclusion of a few hills dotted about the landscape here and there, the plains appeared particularly desolate under the afternoon sun, even by Westfallian standards.
"Looks like there's a road up ahead," Gregg observed, breaking the unpleasantly warm silence.

"Okay.." Replied the night elf who gazed over the Westfallen plainlands. Such a desolate land, it somehow reminded her of the barrens, just less barren.

Kalina, having walked in silence except for some badly withheld curses when water had leaked into her boots, welcomed the change of mood. "Just what we need. Easy to get into an ambush here...at least then we'll find the dirtbags."

Westfall
Gregg nodded and kept walking. Nimrod said nothing.
Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.
The gnome and the dwarf paused, silence. The two exchanged puzzled looks and shrugged, deciding to press onwards.
There it was again...
Gregg raised an eyebrow, taking a closer look at the ground; there appeared to be a fine white powder - not unlike sand - distributed evenly between the blades of grass. The gnome bent over and scooped up a handful, letting the grains run through his fingers back to earth.
Nimrod shielded his eyes from the unrelenting sun and looked around, as if expecting the ocean to suddenly creep up on them.
