The rogue sighed and the druid looked mildly confused.

"I put a gag on him," Kalina lied quickly and changed the subject. "We should get going. I think it's this way."

"I...yes..." Peter said softly, lowering his head as though ashamed of his admission.

"Wonderful."
Wilhelm rummaged through his pockets, taking out a map of Westfall. He dug his heels into his steed's sides lightly, driving it up to Peter. The warlock all but shoved the map into the boy's hands.

Kalina Brayton
Duskwood
Without further discussion, Kalina took point - she was dressed as a guard, after all - and headed the same way the body of soldiers had gone just a little earlier. She wiped a drop of cold sweat from her brow and stormed towards the presumed surface with hurried, nervous steps.

Somewhere nearby a dog growled; on either side of the group, hidden amongst the columns, stood two lines of guards. They were all armed to the teeth, waiting for this moment, yet they made no sign to show they had seen the former prisoners.

The warlock nodded, "Now we are finally making progress. Gallop. Set the pace. Do not stop until the village is within sight."

Athenari walked and did not notice any guard.
Lyshalis narrowed her eyes and tried to find the source of the hounish growl. A "Hm?" escaped her lips.

"Are you not paying attention?" Wilhelm asked. "Irene is drawn inexorably to her home, yet she will only find death there - unless we either intercept her or remove the taint from her village."

"But, the compass. Points to...to Irene, no?" the priest hesitantly put forward. "Thought...thought we were following that, to her."

"Then what were you doing passed out in a Darkshire jail cell?" Max asked, perhaps a bit more snidely than was proper. Noise was one of the few shields he had left, particularly beneath the skeletal, clawing trees and somber sky of Duskwood.

Nimrod Lightforge, Gregg

Those nearest Lyshallis stiffened, hearing her. The solitary growl was suddenly accompanied by loud baying and the cries of the startled guards. "They're invisible!" one proclaimed, realization dawning, spurring the officer in charge into action.
The box thrummed gently in Kalina's pocket, pervading the edges of her mind, accompanied by a gradual increase in temperature, the latter effect being physical unlike the former; it had actually been doing so for several moments, though the changes had only just become perceivable.
Nimrod and Gregg hastily exchanged confused looks at the abrupt appearance of the guardsmen, needing no further incentive to start running at the captain's shout of "up guards and at 'em!"
Elsa Wolftongue
Darkshire, Duskwood
"She said she was going back there, didn't she?" Elsa queried Peter, understanding what Wilhelm was planning.

Kalina Brayton
Westbrook Garrison
"At 'em!" was Kalina's queue as well, and after an instant of disorientation she dashed off after the dwarf and gnome. That she was in a guard disguise she had already forgotten, though as she was at the end of the row of escapees she probably could have been taken for a pursuer.
She threw a glance over her shoulder to check the distance to the attackers and almost crashed into a supporting pillar as a direct result, but caught it at the last second and redirected her momentum just enough to pass it unscathed.
The fact that her pocket had become slightly warmer was nothing she had yet to consciously notice, and while the mental side effect made itself known she made no connection to anything but adrenaline.

"Go go go!" Lyshalis said and ran with the others. That she was camoflaged with the shadows she had forgotten. Her hands drawing blades and the sound of said blades rasping the scabbard would probably give away where the elf is and what she is doing.
Athenari took a step backwards and then turned around and dashed of with the party.
