Character:
Dr.Prometheus Sr., Pyre, D79
Location:
Gilneas
As the game progressed, a pattern soon began to develop. Every move Morec made the doctor would counter with ease. However, it soon became all too apparent that such was all he was doing. Blocking, attacking, defending, but his strategy was of a reactionary suite, without any clear overall strategy for the game at large. As more and more pieces fell, it soon became clear who the winner would be, and it was not the man whose brow -- just visible above the goggles -- began to knit in thought as his lines were steadily penetrated.
Character:
Leo, Sindry, Byte
Location:
K3
"So where's our flight anyway?" Sindry asked as they began to walk along the edge of the runway, avoiding the people dressed in bulky winter clothes who ran hither and thither, luggage crews pushing carts of supplies and the odd (and far too frequently inebriated) pilots just making their way to their wards.
"I...don't, actually know. But, they have to be somewhere around here."
"Why don't we just ask for help?" Byte asked, his head slowly rolling in its socket.
"Get off my head!" Sindry barked, batting at the machine who had landed in her hair. The robot laughed haltingly as it flapped away, taking to perching on Leo's head instead.
"Good idea," the young scientist remarked without addressing the exchange. "How about him? he looks like he might know. Hey! Excuse me! Sir?" Leo cried, waving at a figure which towered over those around him. The somewhat chubby if muscular figure wore a thick red coat and a massive cylindrical fur hat upon his small head. A giant sword and scabbard nearly twice as tall as Leo strapped across the figures back vanished behind his hat as he turned.
Leo felt his arm drop to his side as he found himself and by extension Byte staring up, up, and into the beady red eyes and fanged maw of an ogre. Eyes which sparked in sudden recognition.
"Leo," the ogre rumbled.
Character:
Johann Augustus
Location:
Aurius Forest (formerly Plaguewood)
Johann said nothing, the runes on the ground quickly streaming above and into the cube. With a final, blinding flash which lit the walls of the cavern, the cube cracked open releasing a swirl of smoke.
The moment the spell was complete, Johann dropped his arms and promptly fell backwards into exhausted unconsciousness.
The smoke quickly swirled, building and collecting into a decidedly feminine figure. Curled horns dove from long black hair as a surprisingly modest black and red dress swirled into existence about her curves. A pair of small, purple tinted spectacles manifested before a pair of bright blue eyes. Hooves clicked on the stone floor of the cave as the succubus took her first steps into the material plane, striking a sultry pose with a manicured hand behind her head, and another upon her hip. Lips painted black curled in a smile.
"-Oh yeah, looking good. Looking real...wait, where...?" her hands suddenly dropped as she looked around. Her eyes behind the glasses widened in realization. "Oh come on! Every time I'm about to go out! Just...rrghhh!" the succubus growled, hands curling into fists as she glared around.

Character:
Lord Rivendare
Location: Gilneas
Lord Rivendare made one last move with he reaqcuired Queen - which he had sacrificed earlier in the game. "That's checkmate, good Doctor," the death knight said. His armor shifted as he leaned back in his chair. "A well-played game, though, can't say I've had such in a while."

The doctor hummed in thought. Glancing up to the window at the front of the ship, he suddenly straightened in surprise as a shadow darkened the flight deck.

Lord Rivendare stood up as he noticed the shadow as well. "Well, well," he thought aloud. "What do we have here..."

As the death knight was distracted by the passing cloud, the doctor quickly opened the trap door and shoved the chessboard and pieces into it, assuming an innocent air once the job was done.
"Clouds, looks like. Hope there isn't a storm coming," he said.

"Hmm," Lord Rivendare shifted, almost... uncomfortably, as a thought crossed his mind. "The poessessions I brought with me are well-secured," he asked Prometheus. "They wont be disturbed by this storm - should the worst case scenario occur?"

"If it does, you'll be the first to know," the doctor replied, casually leaning back into his seat. "And then we can torture the guy who stored it for not doing it right. Have you ever heard a man high on helium when he gets lit on fire? Makes the strangest sound you've ever heard. Like...nails on a chalkboard being scratched on another chalkboard. Just make sure the doors locked, though. Once had one make a break for it. By the time we recaptured him, he was dead and smoking like an overdone steak."

Morec just frowned, seemingly not pleased with the idea. In reality, though, he was just disgruntled with the notion his... well, his personal propperty wasn't being taken propper care of. "I would prefer not to risk having it damaged, would it be too much trouble to send one of your men down to make sure it's secure?"

The death knight looked at the ghoul. It was drooling. "You think
that
will be able to tell if it's secured or not?" he asked quizzically. "And, let's be honest;" he motioned to the now chessboard-less deck and the trapdoor, "if
that's
how you treat a game after losing, I'm not sure I want to divide my attention before finding out how you treat the victor."

"I assure you I don't know what you're talking about. But, if you insist. You! As of yet unnamed airman. Check on Lord Rivendare's luggage."
"Yes sir!"
"And find out what the fel happened to the guy getting me my tea!" the doctor called as the man in the sleeveless striped shirt and blue bandana hopped away on a hissing, steam powered leg.

"It still baffles me how you don't manage to attract more... complete help," the death knight said, watching the limping man leave. "Surely there must be some... how to put it... Undamaged people out there that don't care for the state of the world?"

Isaac cartwheeled backwards rather than dropped, glaring at Specter.
"What have you done to Ferin?" he snarled; the boy slowly began sidestepping in a circle around the elf.

"Same. Besides, most of them volunteer for it. You'd be amazed the sorts of weapons you can stick on the end of a man's hands if he doesn't have them anymore."
The door to the cargo bay creaked open. The airman entered, his long gait sending a hiss of steam from a small piston with each step until he paused in the center of the room. "A'right. Where be ye..." he mused, looking about.

Salena stepped forward towards Balah and a chaos bolt once again formed in her hands.
"Wait mom!" Loki said rushing forward and grabbed her arm before Salena could shoot at Balah. "I think she's better." He said.
"It doesn't work like that with us Loki. Once you've been possessed once it's only a matter of time before it happens again." She said. "This is to keep us all alive." She added.
"You don't know that." Loki replied now standing between her and Balah.
Kairi rushed over to Balah. "Come on Balah we have to get out of here." She said trying to help the worgen stand.

"I've always prefered the magical approach," Lord Rivendare said. "More room to expand and grow your powers, more areas of study to tap into to crush your enemies; and it needs surprisingly few resources to function propperly."
The crate sat alone in the center of the hull, dark magic eminating from it.

The boy's ashen gray face colored.
"And you attacked him why?" he demanded, barely keeping himself from rushing at the elf. Now that whoever had warned Specter of his trying to sneak up on him was gone, Isaac could at least try to fight smartly.
