So, one week in, what are your thoughts on Cross Realm Zones.
Prior to implementation I thought it was an excellent idea. As far as 3 days in, I was amused to see the world full of people. One week in, I hate it. I have already grown tired of lining up for quest mobs, waiting for respawns, fighting for nodes rares and chests.
I like to get away to lower population zones and realms for a bit of peace and quiet, to just enjoy the world. This whole debacle is driving me back to hovering over Stormwind to wait for a queue to pop.
Thoughts?

Don't get me wrong, I would never have asked for this feature. I just thought it was a great idea when it was announced.
I play on realms of many different population sizes. Yes, there are pros and cons to each realm size. That's how and why I chose the realms I did. I had self-sufficiency toons on low pop servers, places where I could go to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet.
The toons on higher pop servers were more involved in the economy, dungeoning and raiding.
I miss having the choice of what kind of environment I find myself in, much as I would if suddenly all servers were marked PvP (or PvE for that matter).

I quite enjoy it just for the fact I see other people running around in places that used to be ghost towns.
There was only one instance where I had to wait for quest mobs to re-spawn, but i only took about 5 minutes.

Yeah, I've been giving the new alts some love lately. Cross realm seems to affect all zones from starters as far as Northrend. I can't comment on Cata zones as I haven't taken an alt there recently.

It sounds absolutely horrible. I was against it when it was announced, but will have to wait until I return to the US on Saturday to actually see it in action.
I really hope it isn't as bad as some people make out.
Cheers.

Many of these quest can be accomplished by grouping up with players.
I, for one, have enjoyed seeing people in places where for the past several years have been deserted and re-introduced some much desired world pvp.
Harkens back to my earliest days on my original server which had vibrant zones.
I never had problems grouping up with people.
You
say
you want to enjoy some peace and quiet relaxation and yet bemoan having to wait in line for quest, or share nodes, chest or rares with anyone else.
Sorry, but that sounds more like someone who is in a hurry and wants everything for himself.

I brought up a subject for discussion and gave my own opinion. Where precisely did I invite you to bring insult to the table lone?
Yes, I enjoy backwater realms to get away to, to quest in peace and quiet. To fish in tranquility. I personally don't enjoy having to wait my turn to kill a quest mob. With the exception of Outland, group quests no longer are really group quests, they are all soloable. I play on busy realms and quiet realms, or at least I did. Now the quiet ones are subject to cross-realm, and I mourn what is lost.
If you are capable of putting forth your point of view on a subject without resorting to personal insult, kindly continue; otherwise you prove yourself unequal to the task of debate.

Last point first, I took pains to not resort to ad hominem and your response is 'childish'.
Second, " You say you want to enjoy some peace and quiet relaxation and yet bemoan having to wait in line for quest, or share nodes, chest or rares with anyone else" Yes, that's my point. I want peace and quiet which includes not waiting for the 5 guys in front of me to get their kill or to enter an area denuded of mobs. With Cata came the great mob nerfing. Mob density was reduced to the point of being able to sustain at most 2 players. This is problematic. I don't enjoy having my questing or leveling speed impeded unnecessarily.
Third, regarding mats I am not a hoarder or an AH camper. I gather what I need to craft what I consume or require to level my profs. Having all the zones I've encountered thus far jam packed slows down that as well, which I don't enjoy. I just want to get on with things.
Lastly, not once have I said that anyone must agree with me or refrain from an opposing point of view. Perhaps there are pros which I haven't considered. Perhaps there are other cons which bear discussion. Perhaps this feature will disappear in a puff of smoke. Who knows.
All I am asking for is discussion, debate even, without stooping to the depths of 'your greedy' or 'that's dumb'. Surely we can let those types of comments remain in the dregs of the official general forum. TLDR, lets counter the arguments, present an opposing point of view, and remain genial while doing so.

Overall I like cross realm zones the only problem I see is when farming low drop rate items such as
Essence of Air
as I experienced earlier tonight, it just takes longer now which will most likely drive prices for certain items up.
Wanted to add as far as I can tell when you do a who search of a zone it only shows players from your own realm and none from other servers.

I am Hating it I agree..Server lag...Nodes of ore or herbs being sat on by people from other servers, rudeness, taking forever to complete quests because the npcs are dead you need or other items not available...Rares being camped by people from other realms who will quickly tell you move on even if you'd been camping a rare for months.Fenris was chosen as a crossrealm {dump} my word for it I have seen as many as 6 other realms on it and noticed all of these things and if were not supposed to share cities at all then why is Dalaran full of people from all realms? It was a bad idea on wows developers part why not admit they need to close a few realms and move on!FYI I have asked several people from these other realms to group to get told rudely.....Shut up{have even had some swear at me..silly kids} or flat out no so if this was to force us to group up ect it is a failure! Also noones considering IF you paid to transfer off a realm for any reason and boom all of the sudden there is tons from that old realm now on it wouldnt you feel cheated hey its 25.00 of MY money down the drain because now the same players could be on YOUR new realm so not only did you waste money but time transferring if they are going to do crossrealm then please make server transfers free its only fair.

I haven't been leveling this week because my RAF partner is MIA. Which zones were affected?

I heard all group quests with "loot x of item y" requirements now drop item x for everyone in the group. Considering Blizz's recent trend toward making WoW into more of a social platform, why not group up with people to complete quests? The linear questing means your party will be together for a bit even if you have to split nodes.
I tend to get down on Blizzard a lot, but this is one of a few ideas I think they got right.

I really haven't done much in the game for the past 2 months or so and haven't really experienced this first hand as of yet. For me nothing is more depressing then venturing off into a world which no one else is in. This has nothing to do with the social aspect but rather just visually seeing others taking part in the game. I can see how it could be a issue for quest completing and farming but to me it would just be a small bump in the road. For me I think the pros would far out weight the cons.

What zones have cross realm set-up on them? We talking every zone in the game or the lower level zones?
