Sadly a lot of the media is set up to keep the nudity taboo going. It's like those people who believe that nudist colonies are really just orgies waiting to happen: It's stupid and incorrect but it's how the collective mind thinks.
Myself: I have no real issue with nudity. I don't think that all human bodies are beautiful or anything, but if someone isn't being sexual about the nudity, let them do it; after all, we have the topless law here in Ontario.

As far as I'm concerned, as much as you have a right to be naked wherever, I have a right to not have to see that if I don't want to (and to be honest most nudists and.. stuff are in the camp where I most definitely DO NOT WANT).
I would never get naked like in public situations simply because of decency, but even without that I still wouldn't. I don't have the confidence to just do that regardless.

I am completely comfortable being naked in front of my significant other, including walking around the apartment (with the shades closed, of course), dropping clothing if it's too hot, etc. Not self-conscious at all.
In terms of in public, I just would never even want to be naked- lol. I just kind of view that as a personal thing, and not something I'd like to share. I have no problem with those with less inhibitions- people who work in the adult entertainment industry, for example. But i wouldn't want to do that myself.
I will say that I don't think children should be exposed to nudity- especially sexualized nudity. And in all honesty, in the US at least, even if someone was wanting to be naked in a non-sexual way, the attention they'd attract and comments and discussions that would come up in front of children would be sexual. I don't think public nudity is appropriate except in areas designated for it- nude beaches, adult clubs, etc.

Well what about nudist colonies Elhonna, where there are whole families who live and go about their daily lives in the buff?

I bet no one there is making sexual references about them being naked, and bringing up concepts that the kids shouldn't be exposed to, though. Just like in societies where it is normal for women to be topless, it's not treated any more sexually than it is for a man here. I'm talking about in societies where the norm is not to be nude, just walking around in public nude becomes in and of itself sexualized.

Oh, then...personally, I wouldn't be naked in front of anyone I'm not intimate with. I just wouldn't be comfortable with it, regardless of the level of social acceptance. And I have gone swimming in a t-shirt and shorts before, rather than show more skin in public.

I wouldn't walk around naked unless I knew all the shades and curtains were drawn. If I don't think they are, I'll throw on one of boyfriend's shirts, which is usually long enough to cover anything objectionable, and go do whatever I need to do.

I have a personal belief that I shouldn't be showing my naked body to anyone I'm not intimate with. Even if I though they'd appreciate the show, or would be totally oblivious about it, I am just not comfortable with it. I just don't find it appropriate. I'm not uncomfortable with my body in general- I don't get self-conscious when going to an OB/GYN or anything, even though I'm fairly exposed. But if I have the option to not be naked in front of people who aren't my boyfriend, then that's the option I take.
I'm also somewhat reserved when it comes to sexual activity. I may talk a good game, and have no problem with sexuality in media, but when it comes to actually picking partners I've only had 2, and knew them both for a significant amount of time before anything happened, and actually ended up engaged to both. I'm not afraid of sex, I'm certainly not timid about discussing it or participating in it, but I find it to be a very personal thing, and so I am reserved about who I share it with.
But whatever floats your boat- if you have no issue with nudity, then have fun (within the limits of the law and not exposing kids to anything untoward). If people want to have gratuitous casual sex, it's completely their prerogative. These are just the boundaries I set for myself. I have had roommates who would walk around buck naked because they had no problem being naked in front of any other female, and while I was slightly uncomfortable about it, it wasn't a huge issue. I make no judgements on whatever 2 consenting adults (or 3, or 4 or whatever) want to do as long as no one gets hurt.

I've gotten used to swimming in trunks because well, it goes faster and not wearing swimming gear is against the rules in professional swimming, so I more or less always have a pair with me. In general, though, nakedness does not bother me.

Oooh, did you cover Bertrand Russell in your degree? I remember reading a little from him about naturism, think it may have inspired Aldous Huxley in Brave New World actually.
I also like Kevin Smith's take on it, how he doesn't even shower naked (in
Too Fat for Forty
).
I don't like being nude, though have no theoretical problems with it. I was going to claim that it as an artefact of English reserve, but in reality it probably comes from my embarrassment at swimming as a teenager while quite overweight. I haven't been swimming in several years. Not because I hate changing or anything, but I promised my father that if he made me go swimming one day then I'd never go voluntarily again. Kept my promise so far.

2 years ago- very embarrassed
since last year - not embarrassed at all, we had a house rule when playing beer pong that if you got a shutout on the other team than they would have to do a lap of the house naked, this was explained to everyone before they played, guys had to go full nude, girls got to choose to keep either bra or panties on. Most of the time the rule worked out in my teams favor, since I'm really good at beer pong, but at my birthday party, night my roommate and i got shutout, and had to walk the house naked, in front of the 40+ people at the party, that got me over the embarrassment of being nude.

If I could be naked all the time, I would. I absolutely hate wearing clothes (although I have way too many!) and the second I get home, the clothes are off. Same with my boyfriend. It's not sexual at all either. It's just being able to do things freely without the constriction of clothes. I get more cleaning and cooking done naked than I do when I have to wear clothes.
Now, when unexpected company decides to happen by, it's another story. I've never been embarrassed by getting caught naked, but the visitor has! We make it a point to find out if someone's coming over now; send a text or something, sheesh.
