since introduction of "real names" or "whatever friends", all our e-mails are "compromised" xD so having "secure" e-mail does not matter imo

I changed my stuff, and haven't had an issue. My boyfriend said that (and I'm paraphrasing, because I know nothing about encryption technology), based on the type of encryption they said they used, he wasn't worried about the passwords because a computer with standard processing power would need thousands of years to brute force each password because of the number of binary characters there are in the coding and how many different combinations they would need to try. He said that they'd need a significant sample of decrypted passwords and their encryptions to find any kind of a pattern they could use to break the encryption another way, so he wasn't worried about the encrypted password data.
He said that I'd most likely just get a whole bunch of phishing e-mails, and that's it. But to change everything anyway just in case. And since I have the physical copy of my authenticator, I feel fine about it.

We also know that cryptographically scrambled versions of Battle.net passwords (not actual passwords) for players on North American servers were taken. We use Secure Remote Password protocol (SRP) to protect these passwords, which is designed to make it extremely difficult to extract the actual password, and also means that each password would have to be deciphered individually.
Extremely difficult. Not impossible.
I beg to differ
Why the hacked passwords from blizzard are not hard to crack

@ kophia: In other words, change your password like Blizz said, and don't change it into an actual word, at least not one you'd find in a dictionary. I always throw in some random numbers in my passwords these days, in addition to the letters (which make up no words you'd find in an English dictionary or one of my native tongue - can't vouch for other languages, though).

They are the victims of a crime, yet people seem hell bent at making THEM the villains here.
Reminds me of this song for some reason.(NSFW)

It likely had more to do with the fact that you accessed your account from a different IP (at your Dad's house). It could also be the combined fact that you used a different computer and a different IP which made them suspicious. Followed by the fact that you changed your password.
You can use your WoW account on different computers from different locations but expect them to occasionally want to verify that you're the owner of the account.

How about this- everyone just change your password in case. It takes 4 seconds, will make any password data they do or do not have a moot point since it's no longer relevant, and you'll feel a lot safer. It's more productive than everyone here whipping out their password and comparing whose is longer and harder...

@ ElhonnaDS: You'll never understand how important that is, I fear. ;) But I agree, change your password, and try to avoid using an actual, you know, word. Try using a sentence, maybe, and use the first letters. Like "You're an icky girl, Ehlonna, and can't help it" gives us "YaigEachi", and it's easy to remember. (Offense playfully intended, btw.)
