I'm not saying that there isn't people in Oklahoma who aren't like that. But majority rules. And most certainly not everyone is THAT hate filled. But even without the slurs, the general publics reaction to gays here is disgusting. There is a reason it gets called "The Bible Belt." I didn't make that nick name up but it certainly fits 9 times out of 10.

I lived in Oregon for 17 years without ever being called a f** and it took Oklahoma less than 24 hours. The looks, the stares, the whispers... people really need a life. I don't PDA in public nor do I dress in neon colors that scream "I'M GAY!" Unless you know me personally, walking by me would tell you nothing. That is of course unless you're judgmental and judge people based on stereotypes such as short hair..

I grew up in Georgia, and I can confirm that the bible belt is tough place for gays to live, especially if you're younger.

Two questions, one on the topic that's currently taking over your thread & one less so:
Given your various experiences as a gay woman, is there anything (advice or general statements) you'd say to your younger self or a gay youth?
What do you get on your pizza (excepting influences from your partner or daughter)?

As far as advice, it would be that no one defines you but yourself. People can call you whatever they may, and it may very well hurt and affect you but it doesn't make what those people say true. It's tough to be any kind of different, let alone gay, as a teenager (or even adult). But as long as you are true to yourself and those you care about, nothing else matters. The world doesn't define you, unless you let it.
Cheese, Canadian Bacon & Pineapple. Everyone else in my house hates it. When we order pizza, I have to order my own.

Fatal, you are being just as bad towards Christians as you feel they have been towards you.
I could absolutely guarantee you, with no doubts at all, that you and your partner could walk into my church on any given Sunday, and would be welcomed by each and every one of us.
I could also assume that their are homophobic atheists out there as well. I would go even further to say that most of the more vile abuse from gays (with the exception of the Westboro types, that I refuse to even call a "church") does NOT come from Christians. The ones that do spew hate and base it on the Bible are severely misguided in their faith, and should not be used to stereotype all other believers.

I'm not going to argue about it. I do not dislike all Christians, never have I said I did. Nor did I say that all the discrimination comes from Christians. But facts are facts, I didn't declare Oklahoma part of the Bible Belt, it's been this way for years. Longer than I've been alive, I'm sure. In fact today at work, a youth paster came in with a few teens and while they were eating they were discussing their church drama team and the "human videos" they were making. I actually wanted to sit with them and chat because I use to do that same stuff. They actually made me
miss
fellowship. Do I judge them or think they hate me? No. But there ARE some awful Christians here. In my town especially and until you have lived here, please do not assume to tell me what of my opinions are and are not stereotypical judgements.
Edit: I'm done with this subject. I will not discuss it further. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I honestly don't eat either. I've had both in the past but I couldn't claim to have a fave between them.
A:
Chunky.

If you want to open yourself up to the users, risk being asked questions you don't like and don't mind that some of the off-topic crew actually dislike these types of threads, sure. :-]

I
really
like the House of Night series. Twilight Saga. Harry Potter. Dean Koontz. Stephen King. Among others, but these are must haves. So I guess you could say fantasy/scifi type fiction books.

I do.
Because child birth is an amazing thing, pain aside. And yes there will be pain. My mother gave birth without pain meds/epidurals and so too will I. I want to bring such a precious thing into this world and now that s/he is made of me. I want our 7 year old to be a big sister.
Probably not. But then again, have such a thing ever existed anywhere?

I'd be pretty careful depending how "native"
you want to go
. Best of luck if you're in the right place and frame of mind to have another child though!

Thanks for the concern. :) I plan to give birth in a hospital. I just don't plan to take extra optional pain relieving methods.
