Dark Ranger; they are up there when it comes to Death Knights in regards to power(and I'm talking the WoW ones).
And I am usually that one true...but the Dark Rangers have quite a diverse set of abilities, that involve curses, life stealing, and charm....and oh look, so do Death Knights; the only thing a DK can do that a Ranger can't is raise the dead.

And wade into a brutal melee and slaughter everyone there?

I already read that article about an hour ago when I was questioning Morginar. Your link is irrelevant. As a matter of fact, it is detrimental to your cause. Looking at the W3 unit abilities again, all of them are abilities that have been passed to other individuals and of which Death Knights possess something similar.
Silence? Mind Freeze.
Black Arrow? Any and all of the Death Knight Strikes (Frost Strike, Blood Strike, etc)
Life Drain? Death strike.
The only ability they possess which Death Knights do not is Charm, which can be easily countered by the hordes of ghouls summoned by Army of the Dead.
Additionally, it provides absolutely no information that backs your claims that a Dark Ranger could take on a Death Knight one on one like you're claiming here:
Not exactly; Sylvanas is the original Dark Ranger after all. The rangers are meant to be elite scouts, more then capable of dealing with the threats they run into in the wilds. I'd put the death knight a little ahead due to armour, but the ranger would possibly be faster, and would be aiming for any and all chinks in the death knight's armour.
Magic wise, they are roughly equal, at least going off the abilities that Sylvanas had in WC3.
It lists exactly no abilities already seen in W3. It shows 3 level 90 elite guards, which isn't really all that special. All their abilities are the Black Arrow (countered/correlated by Death Knight Strikes) and hooked nets, which have been a standard gladiatorial tactic for thousands of years and are no way unique to Dark Rangers.
So... yeah. Thanks for proving my point for me. It was rather helpful for you to link the article instead of actually making any points.
