@ rank and adamsm....except if it came out in november/december, it'd be an 8-9 month beta......you seriously believe the beta is going to last almost twice as long as cataclysm beta and far longer than any beta so far when it has much less content being added than cataclysm which took 5 months?
again man, I Don't think its gonna be out on the last quarter of 2012. Its gonna be out on the THIRD quarter of 2012. Specifically August or September. This lets them use the second quarter for Diablo 3, and the last quarter for Starcraft 2's expac. Plus if you do the math, a 5month beta would end exactly on August. The number fits.

If they want to release a buggy and unplayable game sure.
TBC release says hi.
Putting out a buggy and unplayable game/patch has never stopped Blizzard. If they get the order to march, they'll march.
You must not play many MMORPGs or even games. Say what you want about Blizzard stealing features, or not being creative.. but nobody disputes they have a great reputation for putting out polished and relatively bug-free games. Aside from server issues during the initial launch caused by too many players.. I can´t remember any major expansion issues. Hellfire was a bit laggy (again, every player in 1 zone).. but that isn´t because the game was buggy, it was because they made a tactical error and had all players funneled into one zone.

Aye, an error that was fixed in Wrath and Cata....but sadly, they made the same choice with MoP: There are always a lot of people in Wayward's Landing right now, but luckily it phases after the first two quests, so it shouldn't have the same issue as BC, since there are a few different stories you can follow after that point.

Ummm. I dispute Blizzards reputation. 6+ years of Forums on fire every time they throw the servers on the floor disputes their reputation. WoW was not "polished" at launch. Neither Diablo was "polished" at launch. TBC was a train-wreck. Wrath was a car-crash. AQ opening was a train-wreck. Blackwing Lair exploit says hi.
I too played through all that and thought all things considered they did a great job, though I suspect I have more realistic expectations which are most likely derived from percieving the cup as half full as opposed to empty.

Sorry, there were no major issues with the original launch and BC launch other than too many players (total in vanilla, Hellfire P in BC). Wotlk was smooth as anything.. Cata was very smooth. Tell me one bug from Wotlk or Cata that lasted more than a week that really effected anything.
Yes, the forums are on ´fire´ with every patch.. but not about bugs or stability issues, but about people crying. Remember, even if you only count ´the west´.. WOW has like 5x´s as many players as the next biggest game.. all going to one forum to post immaturish´things like ´omg, GC hates shaman´.. Those stupid posts are the only things you see ´on fire´on the forums.. you never hear about broken stuff. Or the forums ´on fire´ because the devs hate alliance and destroy more of their cities than the horde.. or ´omg, don´t give scorpion mounts to alliance´.. Do you count that as a bug? I guess so.
But again, I am very doubtful you played games like AOC, AO, Warhammer or UO to see what really buggy games are like. I remember Xfire when UO launched AOS.. usually after an expansion, subscribers go up.. for almost 2 months after AOS, xfire was down about 30% as there were that many players who crashed 2 seconds after logging in.

Then I'd say you have no standards of quality.
Actually my standards are quite high which is why I continue to play wow and as I pointed out I have realistic expectations and an optimistic attitude both of which I fear shall ever elude you.

edit: Subscription numbers don't matter. Why? Because they've continually "counted" dead accounts in the total number. It also falls under the category of "it's the best game in a pandemically bad genre."
I guess it is pointless to argue with someone who has that type of conspiracy theory attitude. Blizzard continually defines exactly what they mean by a subscriber.. it is someone who has paid money to play the game in the last 30 days. Now by your statement you can either man that ATVI is lying to wall street.. or you can mean that WOW has a ton of people paying every month but not actually logging in. Either case is pretty irrelevant since their earnings back up their subscription numbers and who cares if someone is paying and not playing.
But your second comment there is gold and it shows that your expectations for these games is unrealistic. WOW is substantially better in quality than any other games in this genre...... that is all that we have to agree on. If you keep saying WOW has terrible quality.. then what does that say about the other games? It is all relative.
But really, pointless having any type of debate with someone who thinks ATVI would lie about subscription numbers to the SEC. Just shows how out of touch you are with the real world.

I know right? Corporations have *never* lied about anything *ever*.
Yep, and we didn´t land on the moon, Elvis runs a burger joint on route 66 and ATVI is going to lie about subscriptions despite having the money in the bank which they earned from those subscriptions.
But really, anyone with any knowledge of MMOs can estimate WOW´s population just by the number of servers which are mostly populated well. Those numbers extrapolate pretty well across the genre. I play on Fenris, horde.. which is a lower pop server and I play on the least populated faction, yet at any given moment there are 10´s of thousand of auctions and trade chat galore.. There are a dozen guilds raiding DS..
But you are right.. Blizzard probably has that trade chat done by bots, and they probably have bots that create auctions. Or better yet.. they have duplicated servers.. nobody has realized that when I log into Fenris, I am actually logging into 5 different servers.
Please state that you are a conspiracy nut before making posts so people know not to take you seriously.

QFT.
Over the years I have played I don't recall a bug that has effected me personally for longer than 1 patch to patch period, most are fixed within days.
I don't recall a game breaking bug at all.
I DO have plenty of recollections of thousands of non issues that have been made a big deal of on the forums.
Whining because you are not personally pandered to is NOT a bug.
I remember the loot bug from vanilla.. it lasted awhile.. maybe 2 months.. but it was caused by population. I also fell through the world 2 times... not sure what caused that, but it was also in vanilla. I´ve been ´stuck´about 3 times, usually falling behind a tree. There was also a problem with children´s week a year or two ago.

But, you're going to continue to be "doubtful" because you have a vested emotional interest in being "right" when you're not.
blah blah.. I apologize so much for hurting your feelings. Shall we all sing a campfire song to make you feel better. Love the quote above though.... emotional interest? nada.. I quit wow 4 times already at various boring parts. I disagree with many of their design decisions.. but an ace is an ace, and WOW is by far the highest quality MMORPG in the genre.
The fact is, Blizzard IS KNOWN for the quality of their games. Go to any gaming site and you will see a lot of Blizzard-haters who think that WOW ruined the genre.. but all of them will agree that Blizzard always releases quality stuff and puts it out when it is ready. They hate the dumbed down parts of it, they hate the ´rails´ they hate the themepark.. they hate that it was so successful that it forced other companies to make copies.. but you rarely hear anyone talk about quality or bugs when bashing WOW. Many people, no names mentioned for fear of causing another tissue party, just hate anything that is successful.
If the game was as broken as you suggest in vanilla and BC, then the subscriber numbers wouldn´t have skyrocketed back then. Do you remember that for the first 4 years, WOW was constantly struggling to add servers to keep up with populations? Oh right.. that was part of their wall-street cover up along with lying to the SEC.
Is WOW bug-free, of course not.. but it is far better than other games in the genre.
And this is all opinion, there is no right or wrong. But I have 10M players on my side... and you have 3 tin-foil wearing people on yours.
