I still like the November 12th date. That way I can get MoP for my birthday on the 5th ;p
I'd have to agree. From past expansions, they call came towards the end of the year with except to BC which was in January. I'd say your date is accurate.

Right now there are mass client and server crashes...if this was happening on live, you know people would be screaming about quitting the game lol.

To be fair though you have a tenth of the player base on a handful of servers. They're probably finding stability issues that have always been in the game there just wasn't enough people on one server to bring it out
There was a fix given to help with the client crashes; the server crashes you just have to sit through. The Client crashes are at their worst in Stormwind and Orgrimmar...because, rather then be out and testing thing, people are just sitting on their asses in the cities, complaining that they are crashing. So yeah...expecting a 'quick' Beta because there are a lot of people is really stretching it.

Um...what? It was a year between ICC and Cata's release....

They release it to early and it has several bugs. QQ on the forums because it has so many bugs.
They release it later and it doesn't have bugs. QQ on the forums because it took so long to release.
Either way, there are going to be people that QQ over it. I rather them release it later with fewer bugs than earlier with some bugs still intact. I'm still think it'll be a late Q3/early Q4 release.

And if they release it in 3 months, they'll lose a #$%^ ton more players as it will be unplayable.

Um...what? It was a year between ICC and Cata's release....
Talking about the time between announcement of expansion and release. And if the beta lasts another six months (it's already been just over a month now) that'll be a 7 month beta, much longer than any beta ever. Most players will have quit out of boredom by then, and many may never come back if they realize the content is going to take that long to release. I'm predicting this beta to last 3 months (that's including the time that's already gone by), so another 2 months.
So.....late june to early july, possibly mid july, anything much later is risking losing a crap ton of players.
you do realize that the time between announcement and release of cataclysm almost a year and a half passed right? (Cataclysm was announced on August 2009 and released almost on 2011.)
again, there is NO WAY IN HELL this game will be released on June. Wanna know why? because they announce the release dates 2 months before.
Diablo is due to be out on May, and its release date was announced when? that's right baby, on march.
Cata was out on december, and when was it confirmed? that's correct, on late october.
If MoP was due to be released on June, then we would hear an announcement about it already. So no, June wont be it. If its due to be out on July, then on May we will see an announcement about it. If its due to be released on August, then by June we will see an announcement.
Ye catch me' drift mate? I want it out as soon as possible, but I'm not making any illusions about any month earlier than August. At best of best case scenarios we're looking at an August release. At worst worst of all worst cases of doom and gloom, we're looking at a November/December release (really hoping we don't come down to this one)

Wow.... Im gonna give you all a massive clap on the back :) I had 2 outcomes in my head when i started this thread. 1: Getting flamed to death. 2: One answer and dead thread.
So.. Thanks alot for keeping the discussion open and also for delivering a fine answer.
Now. To the subject. I do agree that it wont come out in june due to what I heared. And D3 needs to be played for a month or 2 atleast before they throw the launch date on MoP. The simple reason is money ofc. In all fairness, whoever runs the money slot in blizzard is a genious. Every launch considering blizz games has been launched at a perfect date due to which dates the other games "died" or got overplayed. Take a look at Starcraft. Dont you think that they could`ve launched the second part of SC2 2 months after Sc2 launched if they really went for it? Instead they hyped cataclysm up for show.... I`ll stop there, you get my point :P Tired aswell. Anyhow. Thanks to all :*

, I don't see why these bugs should take extremely long to fix, especially since, from what I've heard, they aren't severe/head desk Spoken as someone from outside of Beta......

Well I'm just saying, if it is a november/december release, so many people will have quit that it could seriously harm the games population.
It didn't happened with WOTLK and that was a pretty long waiting.
Didn't happened with TBC (Which had nearly a year with only sunwell as the end-game content)
so it wont happen with cata either. even if people leave, they will come back when the expansion is out. They always do.
A 3 month beta isn't out of the question, since bc and wotlk beta's were 3 and a half months.
True enough, but then, if that was the case the game would be released on June, and if the game was due to be out on June, they'd announced it already, since they ALWAYS (no exceptions) announce their release dates 2 months prior to said release date. Since April is pretty much over and we've had no announcement that means June is just out of the question.
Whatever the case, I know it's going to be shorter than cataclysm's 5 month beta due to the much smaller amount of changes to the game in MOP, and if it came out in august, that'd be 5 months.
Do bear in mind that there's a CRAP-A-TON of stuff from MoP that have yet to be tested (Such as heroic dungeons, most of the non-heroics, raids on all 3 difficulties, scenarios, pet battles, most of pandaria, the new BGs, arenas, rated bgs, and player-performance at lvl 90, not to mention tuning the numbers and mechanics of the monk which is still a very much work in progress), and that's not counting the current stuff already on the beta that hasn't been scrubbed free of bugs.
Its simply unrealistic to expect ALL OF THAT to be tested, fixed, tuned and be ready in just 4 weeks, that's just not how this is gonna work. Hence why I'm saying that its just not possible that this beta will last any less than 4 to 5 months.
Blizz is promising to content out faster, and has said they can make expansions faster now
They said the same for cataclysm and yet look =O it had the longest development time of any other expansion in the game's history, then they said the same about cata patches and =O it had the largest gaps between patches in all of wow's history. Don't take what they say without a metric ton of salt. Its one thing what they aspire to do and another what they actually CAN do.
and they are farther along in this beta than previous betas
I wouldn't be so sure about that man, its been a month already of beta testing and we've barely tackled like 10% of the expansion.
A 3 month beta is what I expect, based on that, there's no reason these bugs should take extremely long to fix.
and yet Gilneas and Vashj'ir on cataclysm are STILL bugged to this day (2 years later)......... so yes, bugs CAN take a long time to fix, specially when your beta testers are made of 90% trolls who just log to whine and do nothing but gaze at their navels.
But again, all I'm positive on is that it's going to be shorter than cataclysm's beta
I'm not. Judging by the pacing shown thus far I think its gonna be about the same length as cata beta.
I'm gonna have to disagree, I don't see them holding off releasing the expansion so that people can play their new game, diablo and wow players are mostly a different audience, and they can't just leave their biggest customer base, wow players, with nothing to do just so that
a much smaller minority of their fanbase
, diablo 3 players (which do include wow players, but still) can play their new game. That's a really bad business move if you ask me.
O_O
you are, my friend, VASTLY underestimating just how MASSIVELY NUMEROUS the fanbase for Starcraft and Diablo are.
To make it a case in point, Starcraft is so popular in Korea that its THEIR SECOND NATIONAL SPORT and even the KOREAN AIRFORCE has an official team.
Again, they've left fans of all 3 franchises with nothing to do for a really long period of time while they develop another game. Its just part of the business.

They did it with Starcraft 2; they won't release two games in the same quarter to make sure they get the most bang for their buck.
That's still leaving out the fact that there are a mess of bugs that make it really hard to level: Off the top of my head:
1. No monk quests yet for the other classes.
2. Westfall, Duskwood, Darkshore, Ashenvale, Desolace, Western Plaguelands, STV's, Feralas all have quest lines that are either A) Missing entirely, as in the quest givers aren't there(Lor'denial is completely empty of quests) or B) Phased out(WPL is after the battle for Andorhol) for Pandarens.
3. None of the reps work for the Pandaren except for Kurenai/Mag'har, so good luck finding all of the quests in zones.
4. Multiple quests still bugged in the new zones.
Yeah.......sure would be stupid to release a game that is still this buggy in 2 months......
