I really don't remember. Probably the variety of topics, versus just WoW related ones.

I became a moderator and thought I ought to get to know what the OT board was all about.

I am a notorious roamer of off-topics. Checking the off-topic section is natural for me.

I Googled something (I really don't remember what) and one of the results was an off-topic thread here. I thought it was interesting that there was a topic on a WoW fansite that had nothing to do with WoW so I started following things here. After a month or two, I finally decided to jump in, and you all know the rest :)

Do you play WoW Jubilee, or did you?

Randomness for life tbh
idk I was bored and looking through the forums one day, I think. Yeah. We'll go with that, anyway.

I made a thread in the Paladin forum back when I played wow, and some moderator moved the thread here, because they felt it didn't apply to the class. I thought it was insulting, that I got moved to what I felt was the "trash", that is, until I got more attention in the trash than I did in the wow forums. That's when I stayed.
So, it is really a moderator's fault that I'm here.

I actually just lurked on Wowhead for almost 2 years, with maybe a post or two related only to the game.
I think my first real interaction in OT was during one the religion debates. I still rank that as one of my favorite threads on here. It was, for the most part, civil. Those couple of days were probably one of the best "Bible Studies" I have even had...in or out of church. Most of my interaction in that thread was simply looking up, and posting Bible verses that were related to whatever situation the thread was discussing at time.
I hate the fact that that type of banter seems impossible to have here now. Linking a verse is almost guaranteed to get some comment about a unicorn, a teapot, or a "fictional book".
As I have said, OT has become my "abusive spouse". I still feel compelled to return, because I miss the good times, even though I know there is little chance of any topic that I want to post in not ending badly. But, much like the abusive relationship analogy, I keep coming back, by my own masochistic will, hoping that it will be different. Who knows, maybe it will.

Hmmm... while I agree, I feel there is a change on the horizon. That kind of "unicorn" garbage used to go unchecked, for PAGES, but now it gets properly flamed in return, and pretty swiftly. Things seem to be "even". I think in the end everyone is going to learn they don't enjoy being demeaned, and start being respectful again.

It's just an analogy. Something that can't be proven, but people don't believe in anyway. The noun in the analogy doesn't matter.

In some cases, you are right, but in others, I think you are wrong. It really depends. Some people were innocently trying to illustrate the point, but others WERE being jerks for no other reason than they HATE Christianity. It's entirely unacceptable, whether done innocently, or done maliciously, comparing someone's beliefs to imaginary dragons, bigfoot, and Harry Potter are just never going to end well. Just try to put yourself in their shoes.

I can't speak for other users, but whenever I use that analogy, I only attempt its use as a tool to let other people see
my
perspective. I don't want to derail this topic, but surely you can understand how miraculous or otherwise supernatural claims sound to someone who doesn't believe in miracles?
