A new coat, with epaulettes and a high collar (shush, I like it), a pair of wingtipped shoes (my dad says he has no idea why he bought them since he knew I wouldn't like them and we're switching them out for a mic), money, a new triple combination (Scriptures: Bible, Book of Mormon and Doctrine & Covenants) and a book of steampunk short stories.

No, we took them back yesterday.
For the record, they were black with purple laces. Kind of ridiculous looking.

Peace and quiet! Was only me and my dad out of my family in town, heh. Mom working abroad, girlfriend (plus cat) in the other end of the country with her family, the few close-ish relatives we have out of town as well, etc.
Actual stuff I got was just small things, though the cashmere scarf was both super cozy and immediately useful, the weather being what it is (-5C and fairly relentless snow).
Also I cheated and bought a new PC a few weeks ago with my dad chipping in some money as Christmas present in advance so I didn't really need or want anything more. :p
a razor (too late!)

Like, Nickelodeon Gak? I saw some on TV and remembered how it smelled lol
#256- What is the biggest source of stress in your life?
Work, and not being to get things done in the time I want to. I often wake up in the middle of the night thinking "$%^&, I have this and this and that to do tomorrow."
Also, my oldest sister. She has a disability and I'm worried whenever she walks somewhere by herself that she's gonna get picked up and raped or beaten or robbed. She, herself, isn't a burden or stressful, but I stress that she wouldn't be able to defend herself in those situations.

My biggest source of stress is my dad and being unable to find a job.
If I had a job I could help out my mom so the bills aren't overwhelming. I hate not being able to help out.
My dad is just the biggest pain in my ass. And he has been for years. He $%^&*es about everything, constantly tells you to do something and how to do it (I'm 23 years old and he still has to tell me how to feed the animals) and demands everything be his way or its wrong. I can't even set something on our new washer and dryer because he flips the %^&* out. I'll be using the tv and he'll say I have to watch the news, so turn that off so I can. Why he can't turn the other tv on to watch the news, is beyond me.
He also likes to belittle everyone and make snide remarks about something, but when you say something to him he gets all pissy about it. He is the biggest hypocrite I have ever known. He'll yell at me or my sister because we left the kitchen light in or didn't shut the fridge door all the way, but when he does those things it's perfectly fine.
Then when he starts to drink he has to have the stereo blaring. The entire house rattles because he has it so loud. He doesn't care is someone is trying to sleep or isn't feeling well, he still has it at full blast. But heaven forbid us to make a peep when he is sleeping.
tl;dr My dad makes my life very stressful.

I would generalize it up to "money". I imagine my financial situation like a gun that is constantly pointed at my head and that would not hesitate to go off once I do not generate enough income. There is also a creeping sensation of slow drowning, because the demands on my income are rising and are never going to decline, but I do not really feel like chasing after higher incomes. I am not a careerist.

Rystrave: you don't say what particular disability your sister has. Have you considered that you might be crowding her, and coming across as a bit smothering? She may be disabled, but if she's an adult, she certainly has the right to her own free life, and to make her own choices. I completely understand your protectivity - Good on Ya! Just maybe think about how she may feel sometimes. It might be a big cause of stress for her.
So it's her choice to not be able to protect herself in a situation no woman should ever be in? I think you totally missed my point there, Pikey. Anyone with a disability is at a greater risk of getting taken advantage of.
She is able to work, go to the store on her own, etc. But she has the mentality of a child for the most part - When she was 6ish, she had a fever of 107'f, thus creating brain damage. For the most part, she has trouble saying
no
to a lot of things. She understands it's not right, but it's the "I don't want to disappoint anyone" thought she constantly has. So in a situation like I stated above, she'd be taken advantage of. She's given her own money to complete strangers because they just flatly asked for it.
