QOTD Thread #332- Do you think that people should keep cats outdoors?

#253- Why do you think people have kids?
Guess it depends on the couple:
Some have them for love.
Some have them because sex is fun and they are too dumb to use protection.
Some have them to try to trap a partner who wants to leave.
Some have them because they are too dumb in general.
Some have them to be perfect little dolls to trot out and have their friends go 'oh look at the little angels'.
And some have them because they don't give a &*!@ and just give up the baby after the 9 months.
Pretty much this.

#254- What do you think the people 50 years from now will think about life today? What will they be embarrassed or angry about? What will they be nostalgic about. What do you think they will find unbelievable?

Nostalgia googles, thinking that 2012 was a great year for gaming.

They'll probably be embarrassed about the political climate. 50 years ago, we had McCarthyism, the Cold War, and Jim Crow laws. Not exactly very bright times. In 50 years, they'll probably look back on all the gridlock and rhetoric and wish it had never happened.
They might look back on some of the entertainment with nostalgia. 2012 was a pretty big year for films. The Avengers, Prometheus, The Hobbit, Argo, Skyfall, Life of Pi, The Dark Knight Rises, Frankenweenie, Django Unchained, The Cabin in the Woods, Looper, Wreck-it Ralph, Para-Norman... So far, I've only actually seen The Hobbit and The Avengers in that list, but I haven't been able to escape people talking about how good each of them are.
They'll probably also look back at Curiosity landing on Mars with nostalgia. Hopefully by then, we'll start sending manned missions to Mars.

Hopefully they'll be embarrassed about how widespread bigotry was. I can be optimistic, even if I know that's unrealistic. It's a nicer thought is of course its eradication, but still. Also some of the music and fashion. Especially the fashion.

Fixed that last part for you.

Some of the "fashion", I think. Or I hope, at least. The whole SWAGYOLO-wave is so stupid it's beyond words. I also think that people will look at what we know today, from a scientific perspective, and wonder how we didn't realise X or why we didn't go ahead with Y (Curiousity landing on Mars would be a good example for this one) much sooner. All in all, though, I think they'll just - like we do today - look back and get the shivers when looking at how we dressed in general.

#254 - Disappointment, or anger. Either disappointment that people didn't handle themselves more responsible in the past, or anger that they were so rule crazy. Which depends entirely on the culmination of consequences from our actions people in 50 years will have to deal with. If things still haven't come to a head, then anger.
For instance, if people in 50 years are still living on borrowed money, as people are today, they will be angry that they don't have socialized healthcare, socialized food industry, socialized everything. If people in 50 years are paying the bill for today, then they will be disappointed that we tried to socialize healthcare, socialize the food industry, socialize everything.

#254: I think people will look back and shake their heads at the debt the government put them in. That, and Nicki Manaj.
#255: I got a new pair of mockys and smell goods, my dad gave me some cash money, a cookie jar, and
this
.

Mockys, mockies = moccassins. I'm probably the only person in the world that calls them that though o_o

I got to see and hang out with my friends and family, and I got to see the faces of my nieces and nephews light up when they got their gifts. That's all I wanted.
As far as material gifts go, I got 50$ from my parents, my friends got me a bottle of Armani Code cologne, and my niece drew me a picture of a kitten. I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas.

Lots of books by Chomsky, the seventh season of House, a bottle of Famous Grouse, a razor (too late!) a pair of socks, the second season of Mrs Brown's Boys, a Kindle, £20 cheque, American candy, canvas shoes, the Hobbit soundtrack and a cloth belt.
