Don't get me wrong I love my flying mounts. I just think they are talking so much away from world pvp. The only place to really do it now is tol'barad. What could they do to change this?

What they're doing in Mists by not letting people fly until the level cap. And even then there won't much of people flying and staying in main cities if they go about questing and such trying to get VP.
If they add in contested zones at the level cap this may affect it some.

Isn't there actually a contested zone that will become very important even for level capped players (Faction-wide Conquest Point bonus, IIRC)? Maybe they can just make that a no-fly zone.
Also, I agree, although air-ganking AFKers who are just flying, thinking they won't die is very amusing.

There might be a zone like that, I don't remember reading about one though. I heard talk of people saying the wish there would be one, but nothing confirming it.
Would be great to have one like that. In addition to have a WG/TB type place as well.

The reason flying mounts ruined World PvP is because people preferred being on their flying mount to participating in World PvP (not that there still isn't plenty of opportunities to catch people unmounted, unless they're just AFK in which case that isn't actually world PvP). If everyone, and I mean everyone wanted world PvP back so badly it would happen either way.

Hey, World PvP is basically gone due to all this. I see Horde in SW right? I try to Shadowstep and ambush them or just sap, their immune because their on the friggen flying mounts! World PvP was gone after BGs were introduced.
If any of you played Vanilla WoW before, remember when you always had to go on foot? World PvP would be in Hillsbrad left and right. I mean it is just very unfair that your friggen on a ground mount, you attack a guy on the flying mount and it's like vamoosh and then -BOOM-, he kills you.
So that's it, World PvP is gone. And -YES- Flying mounts are ruining it.

Ruins World PvP - Yes
Makes the game more fun overall - Yes
Makes the game more fun overall? How does it?
This is one of the main things that made Cataclysm horrible. Most of the games population just skipped through the quests as quickly as possible due to being able to fly through it all, meaning, they where level capped within a day or two...Thats most of the fun gone.
What about seeing somebody running around questing? You try to gank them but no, they mount up and fly away. World PvP dead = less fun.
If you wanted to go somewhere for any reason (holiday events) you had to hop on your mount and ride there on ground meaning you would see others on your travels, or just get into some world PvP.
Now you are there in around 30 seconds and had a chance to kill nobody...More fun gone.
Flying mounts have done this and more and overall made the game less fun and the content last a lesser amount of time.
And really, Mists won't fix it. The leveling up will be more fun to do but as soon as you do it once you can fly through those areas on your alts while leveling...No flying till cap will last a month.
Then again everybody will be AFK in citys anyway...Yay fun...
Nailed it!

World PvP has died because not enough people enjoy it. The idea that Flying mounts has killed it has been around, well as long as flying mounts have, this is nothing new. And, just an anecdotal supposition at that.
All of your hooting about the days when you could just go around "Ganking" is laughable. Hunting gank candidates isn't World PVP anyway. It's more like "Permissible Griefing".
The plain truth of the matter is; World PvP died because it isn't popular enough to stay relevant.
I'm sure it is a fun and heartwarming bit of nostalgia. "Remember when we...." The facts are in, and World PvP is dead. Even on PvP servers, one faction dominates the other because the Vast majority of players choose to hide within the numbers and avoid such contests.
Tol Barad, the island and peninsula are perfect examples. Land mount only, but there is limited, at best, world PvP, and mostly avoidance between the factions. People just want to quest/farm. They don;t want PvP.
World PvP will stay a fond, but distant memory for the gankers until players, I mean the majority of player, want to use their game time to do it.

Flying mounts have "ruined" world PvP to some extent. But nowhere near as much as LFG - people can literally level from 10-85 without leaving the city.
Of course, they can do the same thing with BG's too.

If people wanted to PvP in the World, they would. Despite the LFG/Flying Mount crisis. Nothing is stopping those that crave it from doing it. Your complaint is: There's no one out here left for me to waylay/gank/grief.
If all of the players that moan about the death of World PvP, just went out and did World PvP everyone would be happy.
