A single parent of either sex.
Someone with a leg injury worse than my current sprained ankle.
A war veteran.

Someone that deserves it.

On the Paris Metro, they actually have a message (in French and English) saying which order one has to give one's seat up.
War vets come first, then blind, then disabled, then pregnant women, then people with kids (If I recall correctly).
Which could create the unfortunate scenario of a war veteran (from Sétif?) shouting at some blind person that he really wanted to sit down.

Anyone older than I am. Any female. Any disable person.

Elderly and disabled.
Once upon a time I would have given it up for women, but they've been pressing for so long that chivalry is dead. I used to open doors for women, but they usually get annoyed at me, so I quit.

Elderly, disabled, or pregnant.
As for any of the other chivalry things; I hold the door for pretty much anyone, male or female heh.

I can't believe only 3 people have mentioned pregnant women.
to me, those are priority numero 1.
After them, elderly, and single-parents who are carrying a child.

I'd generally just go by the rule of "Are they less able to stand on a bus than me?" If they aren't then they get the seat, if they are then they don't get the seat. So I'd give up a seat for the elderly or someone who's in some way disabled (last guy I gave my seat up for had a sprained wrist). I generally won't give up a seat for a woman because more often than not I'll just be refused as they're as happy to stand as anyone else.
This is my approach, too, except for maybe people with kids. I hold the door open for anyone, unless I hate them. I don't think women always want or deserve preferential treatment, so I don't give it to them. Pregnancy is obviously different, but not every woman is pregnant, so. Yeah.

Is a man giving up a seat for a woman (any woman) 'wrong?'
Not wrong; as that's just polite.

I wouldn't say it was wrong but I wouldn't give up a seat for one. I do open doors for everyone regardless, and I open my gf's door to the car.
