Either way, the world is conditioned to make you feel and think that heterosexual is the only real way to go and if you go in another direction, it will be at the least
difficult
.
Maybe. Besides the social implications, there are also the physical implications. It's impossible to reproduce. Having kids is a big part of adult romantic relationships. Sure, there is adoptions, but actual reproduction is a drive that we, as living being, have.

If this turns into another homosexuality debate, I'm not gonna touch it with a 10-foot pole. I hope it doesn't, cuz this is a really nice thread.

Agreed. I wasn't trying to debate, just pointing to one of the difficulties faced by homosexual couples.

I grew up in a very supportive but "neutral" environment at home and still had serious qualms about coming out to my parents. Being neutral to something that I child or young teen doesn't have the same implications as it might with an adult.

I was on YouTube this weekend, looking at old X-Factor and Got Talent auditions, and I came across
this one
. Thought you might like it :)

Good luck. I know my friend was worried about that before she told her mother.

Well, that could have gone better. Moving out has moved up on my list of priorities by a fair bit.
Well that sounds ominous.

Best of luck! Maybe you could contact Stonewall for advice, or are there any friends that'd be willing to put you up?

I would let you crash at my place any time, if I had one =/
And it's on the other side of the ocean, so it could be a little troublesome..

I'll ensure they're exposed to both types of relationships as well.
This surprised me slightly and made me curious - do you (anyone who wishes to answer!) see relationships as being of two or more types? Homosexual and heterosexual etc?
The reason it surprised me is that I've, without any thought on the subject, always considered romantic relationships to be romantic relationships, I hadn't applied 'types'. The genders and sexualities involved are simply details but the core relationship between any two people in love is the same, I thought.
Obviously no-ones relationship is exactly quite the same, so I'm only talking in general terms here.

In terms of how I think of them as a couple, no. In terms of how the laws affect them and whether society will present them with specific challenges because of the label, yes.
It's kind of like with racism. You don't have to be racist to know that because racists exist, people are going to face specific issues from those people based on how THEY define them as a group, and so in that context there will be differences. It doesn't mean you think of them differently- just that you recognize that because many people DO think of them differently, they will be treated accordingly by those people and it will be a factor they have to deal with in their lives.

What does it mean to be born with the wrong body (e.g. a boy being born with a girl's body)? If someone's body does not determine his/her gender, what does?

Your brain, I'd imagine.

What is the difference between a female brain and a male brain?

What is the difference between a female brain and a male brain?
Different electrochemical wiring and physical composition in parts of the brain. Just like how it's different between individuals.

The way the brain sees itself; a lot of transgendered speak about how they never felt like the body they are in was the right one, pretty much from birth.
