Wait till 51 and spend a few hours in Alterac Valley. You just can't properly farm honor before that.

You can wear both at the same time if you're that worried about it. I think waiting until 70 to get the one with Resil is stupid, unless you like dying and being CC'd everywhere.

You don't really need this before 70 and keep the 3k honor to buy the medaillion.

it is 51-60 and 61-70.
Kramp it is totally worth getting it before 70, get it early it will save you half a dozen run backs from ganks and BG's will be livable. the trinket will also make the 20k grind at 70 alot more baralble. 100% worth it.

At that level range you don't ever want to be alone... find some one who is decent and help him out(ex. fear extra peeps off him) and he'll be more likely to make the effort to keep you around.

Make sure to help cap towers.
More capped towers = More honor
Also do the quest to get your

, or

, whichever way you swing.
That way in case Drek or Vann needs a little love and caring you can teleport right back to the base and help out.

ok i'm about 3 bars away from level 51 now (wow how the time flies) and plan on hitting up AV asap. Does anyone have any links or tips for a new AVer.
if im only out for honor whats the best way for me to go?
AV is all about the objectives. More caps = more honor. It's tempting to just hang out where all the killing is happening, even if it's not near an objective, but you won't get as much from HKs as you will from tower caps.
I've been grinding AV for a few days now, and some of the losses rewarded almost as much honor as some of the wins. Why? Objectives.

I know it's likely the OP won't listen to me, and ppl in this thread might not like my answer too much, but here's my 2c.
IMO if you are going into any BG at the lowest level in the bracket, you really won't be helping your side, but rather filling a spot that could have been taken by a lvl 59. In the long run, this makes farming honor and marks more time consuming for the entire faction, as lowbie's can't offer as much and thus contribute to the number of losses for that faction. Hence less honor, less marks per BG.
My only tip for a new AVer (or anyone new to BG), if you want to help rather than hinder, is to wait until you're at the top of the bracket before participating.
If I'd seen this thread earlier I would have suggested that if you want the trinket early, taking the extra time to farm the honor outside of AV in a 40-49 bracket at lvl 49. That way you'd be helping instead of sabotaging your factions chances for victory.

Indeed. And I'd like to further this viewpoint. If you're going to wait til x9 to enter the BG, you'd be as well spending as much gold as you possibly can on slightly better gear than everyone else, maybe even keeping a dedicated character JUST to use in BGs at that level.
And if you can't do that? Well, just don't enter the BG. You're just ruining it for everyone else by not having the best possible gear you can.

Yes, because a 51 warlock can't fear anyone, apply DoTs etc...
BG elitists (like yourself) are part of the reason why so many players don't BG at all until the late 60s or 70, then don't know what they're doing, and end up just using them to farm honor/marks.
Instead of calling everyone lower than you "useless," try being a team player.
OP: Ignore this troll (and all his brothers) and have fun in BGs, learn as you go, etc...By the time you get to 70, you'll be the warlock that chain-fears me to the point that I'll curse your name, even though I don't know it. Enjoy.

Who the hell cares about their faction? When it comes down to PvP, and in many cases WoW in general, you can and should be as selfish as you like. If I pay $15 a month you better be damn sure I'm gonna do whatever the hell I want. The other players don't care about me so why should I care about them outside the fact that we need to be cohesive to win AV? Don't forget these are people from other servers you will never see again so I see no reason NOT to be seflish.

I like how the only thing in quotes is a word I didn't use.
@ lvl 51 you will bring something to the BG.. Just not as much as if you were lvl 49 or 59.
I suggest it also because it's usually more fun to kick butt in BG's rather than struggle to get by.
That's it from me. Flame as you wish without retaliation from this point on.
Right, because "not helping," "taking someone's spot," "can't contribute as much" and "contribute to the number of losses" don't all boil down to "useless" in this context.
Does winning AV really matter that much to you? I can say that it used to matter to me, and I really tried my best at it, even though I wasn't the least bit good at it. Oh, and I was one of those "non-contributing" lowbies playing AV at lvl 60 and 61. Oh noes! lowbeez costz us da match! L2P nubs!
Some facts for your consideration:
-Winning AV doesn't matter. Even a loss gives you plenty of honor. Winning is better, but losing is still like getting a free pizza, even if it's not good pizza.
-No matter how many AV matches you win, no side will take over Alterac Valley and its precious mines and bunkers.
-The majority of players in AV are just there for the honor or entertainment. Don't like it? There's a place for you, and it's called a premade, where you and your pals can get all frothy about tower captures and shout "IGBY! IGBY!" at one another.
-No one cares how many AVs you win. I don't, the 39 others in your group don't, the opposing force doesn't, and your guildies don't. Blizzard doesn't care, either. Otherwise, there would be a way to keep track of your BG record.
Now, assuming that anyone really did care about this silly little BG, by your logic, it needs more brackets for 70 and beyond. After all, I only have 3 pieces of bona fide PvP gear, so that means I'm "taking a spot" from someone who has a full S3 set, right?
You're like the guy who takes the company softball team and the bowling league standings way too seriously. The rest of us are laughing at you behind your back.
