The
human
woman moved over to the other pile, the one consisting purely of the demons the succubus had piled together, and ignited it with felflames. Mark could have sworn there was a hint of sadness in the demoness' expression, but as the two piles ignited, one burning red and one green, it became difficult to see anything for certain. He turned away from the two pillars of flame and picked up the still-squealing helboar, noting how light it was with the illusion magic affecting it.
He then then picked up the two badly battered banners he had managed to find, one depicting a gold lion head against a blue background and the other depicting a crimson eredar-rune emblazoned upon a fel-green background, which he now planted in the ground near their respective funeral pyres. "Let's get going, we can't do much else for them now... And it's getting dark," he said to the others, noting the lengthening shadows at the edge of the clearing and the bright red glow the sky had acquired.

Mercer tagged along silently, reflexively clenching his fists. He felt as if the words to the Spirits had been said by another person entirely, and he had just been there as an observer. Regardless, once again he felt drained and distant, and very, very tired. In the back of his mind, though, rage continued to seethe as he kept thinking of the perpetrators and wishing them to not go unpunished.

Alex followed after them, idly turning his music player on and listening as he walked.

Mark glanced back in Alexander's direction, "what are you listening to?" he asked casually. The demoness and the helboar were both staring at the device intensely, the former was evidently trying to work out what it was and the latter evidently thought the device was some kind of food.

"Some Nightwish," Alex said with a shrug. "The Islander." He avoided the helboar, attempting to avoid getting his music eaten,

"Okay," Mark nodded vaguely, he evidently had no idea what Nightwish was. The helboar squirmed in his arms and tried to snatch the music player, its long tongue snaking through the air towards the device.

"More knights in a Nightwish music video than there ever were in Europe at any given period, period," Mercer muttered.

"I've never seen a knight in a Nightwish video," Alex replied. "Links pl0x."
He grabbed the tongue as it went towards him. "EW. Seriously. EW. Stop that."

The helboar looked at Alexander in confusion, from the way it was acting it seemed like it was wondering why the human was offering up his hand for food instead. The creature started to pull his hand towards its mouth using its tongue. Unfortunately for the piglet it could not use its full strength with the illusion magic upon it and Mark easily moved it away from Alexander. The helboar struggled for a few moments, becoming subdued in his arms when its efforts did not get it anywhere. "I don't suppose you've got any bands I might know on there?" Mark asked Alexander, "my phone's probably wrecked after my
swim
in radioactive water."

"Pretty sure there's nothing actually radioactive in that water," Mercer commented. "'course your progeny might be horned now, but I doubt they'll be deformed, eh?" he added darkly.

"I know there probably wasn't, but I highly doubt what I landed in was good for me either," Mark replied, subconsciously running his hand along his forehead once again in case he had sprouted horns.

"I suggest you try shooting a fireball out of your hands before we finally get to the Light-swingers," Alistair said, "Never know if you can afford it afterwards."

"And how exactly do you suggest I do that? Besides, what if it comes out fel-tainted?" he asked.

"Then all it does is burn down a patch of grass. Nothing irreparable," Mercer shrugged carelessly.
"Shouting 'unlimited power' might help," he added with a goofy grin, "And God forgive me for
not
shouting that one."

Mark sighed, "what if I sprout horns or turn the surrounding area into a barren wasteland? Or both?"
He had the feeling 'unlimited power' was a reference to something, rather than an actual suggestion, though he had no idea what exactly.

"If you had the power to turn everything around you into a barren wasteland you would use it under extreme stress, no?" Alistair folded his arms on his chest.
"Would make sense - dunno why, but I have this feeling. And when my guts come knocking at my brain with something to tell, I trust them."

"Alright fine. But don't be surprised if your guts actually end up knocking at your brain," Mark said, giving up. It was obvious he had no faith in his ability to control magic, even if he actually could conjure some. "Hold him for me," he added, gently passing the helboar to Alistair.

"Hello again, Piglet," Mercer said unenthusiastically. He dutifully accepted the helboar, however.

Mark moved a small distance away from the rest of the group, standing across from a large tree. The human stared at his target, doing his best to clear his mind and focus. The demoness and the helboar were both watching him with interest. The human wracked his brains for some way of casting up magic of some sort, but nothing came to mind.
After a few moments the human started to whisper an incantation, the words of which were in eredar and he suspected the succubus had been responsible for their timely arrival. As he gained confidence he increased the volume of the incantation and it started to manifest itself, fel-green flames erupted all over his body however neither he nor his possessions were visibly harmed.
As soon as the incantation had reached full strength, or at least it seemed to have done so, Mark forced the fel magic from his body. A large amount of burning fel-green orbs radiated outwards from him like a giant shotgun blast and exploded against the trees before the human, obliterating them immediately and creating a strong smell of charcoal. Dying embers floated down towards the group, glowing the same shade of green as the spell had been.

"Boo-yah!" Mercer shouted, slapping the other on the back cheerfully, "You did it, Marcus!"
He placed Piglet down to perform a short dance, chanting, "
