I usually go with an archer with some magical properties if I can (Skyrim I was Archery + Conjuration). Sometimes though, if the melee combat is enjoyable enough I'll slum it in the good'ol fashion warrior spec.
Dps warrior! I love it!

I like the ranged-type classes, but sometimes I like to fool around on a melee class.
Melee warrior type. like to take a beating but also dish out a lot of damage.
I normally gravitate towards archer or tank or ranged other dps in games I play...I just love bows.. <.<
I always roll rogue. And then when I realize I can't do a lot of things by myself, I re-roll archer. Then when I realize when I get into close range combat, I die. Then I re-roll sword and board warrior and tend to stick to it. I honestly NEVER make casters.
I've always been drawn to ranger/hunter-type characters. I prefer to kill things from afar, and if I can have a pet/companion of some sort to keep the heat off me, even better!
I used to be a caster nut just because I've always loved magic but for a while now I've been opting to play warriors more and more as I love getting right into the middle of the action and decimating everything!
I typically play a mage in most RPGs. Pencil and paper to MMOs I'm usually a caster, with MMOs I sometimes have a melee alt.
I am a warrior. I love to see the fear and anguish in my enemies eyes. I love the to slice and smash there heartless bodies to oblivion! I am one for being in the face of enemy. When Kingdom of Amalur come out i will walk the path of the great and powerful warrior!
I always choose some kind of melee class. Prefferably dualwielding warrior but a melee oriented rogue class is good enough as well.
I generally play a paladin/warrior-of-the-light melee character. I like the "hit things with big sticks" playstyle, especially when there's Big Damn Magic available to back it up. (and *especially* when it's in a console/single-player game where it's possible to graduate to the "the last boss looks like a level 2 slime" XP level, heh.)
Always the Rogue/Assassin there.
While I'm sort of a jack-of-all-trades, I typically enjoy stealth characters the most, particularly in games like Skyrim. I love hiding in the shadows, exhibiting inhuman levels of patience, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. I also love being able to sneak around, gaining entry into places not usually or easily accessible to other character builds. I feel it helps accentuate the scale of the game as it feels like the world is that much more open.As for combat style, it generally depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes I'll attack from range with a bow or sniper rifle so I can savour that perfect headshot. Other times I like to move in and get messy with a pair of daggers or a shotgun.
