I normally start with a caster class. Mages and sorcerers for me.Then I try to play a hybrid-ish class the second go around (Druids and shamans). Can't wait!
I fell in love with druids when I played Baldur's Gate, so if there's a druid class then I'm it =D If the game lacks druids then it depends on who I'm playing with. Solo I'm usually a rogue/thief and multiplayer I play whatever healer is available or an offensive caster type.
In Your Face Melee!Something about Clothies depending on mana has always repelled me for some reason...
I enjoy playing each type on a rotating basis but from start to finish of a game I usually make characters in a fairly regular order. Ranged damage dealers first, especially one with magic. Then I usually like to play a healer or support class. After that I like to play a melee dps and a tanking type class. I have to have them all or I don't feel like I'm fully enjoying all the game has to offer.

I usually play Paladin :D I've always liked their ''holyness'' and the fact that they fight for good. They usually also (in-game) have great survivability and damage :P
Doesn't matter the game, I always end up a mage.
A class that can pick locks. I hate seeing a chest or door and not being able to open it. Just think what goodies might be inside!
BURN IT WITH FIRE.If it can cast fireball, thats what I play. In more free form RPGs, (after the fireball) I always take a heal spell, and plenty of sneak/hide. Nothing better than sneaking up behind a group of NPCs and blowing them up before they even know Im there.
Warrior thanks for the chance :)
Hunter, long range physical damage type, always play that, i happen to like long range damage with physical damage, i enjoy that style
I usually play the sneaky rogue/thief types....though I always preferred healer/caster types in WoW. Go figure.
In any RPG, I tend to play a hunter or some form of archer/ranger. It has always been my favorite and which why hunters in WoW attracted me <3
I tend to roll with a warrior type class, I have always found the unique play and the need to be careful yet brutal as a warrior type class interesting
For fantasy settings I usually play something badass that enjoys to hit stuff in the face with a large two-handed weapon. Preferably having a little magic as backup. So maybe it's no wonder that I used to play a retribution paladin and a death knight in world of warcraft, aswell as a riftstalker/champion warrior in Rift.
I always play the assassin/rogue type classes because i like assassination type kills and being sneaky
I love healer classes and Damage dealers the kind of pressing always one button without waiting (spammer) kinda.
I'm an alt-o-holic, so I almost always end up playing any class available for at least a bit to try them out, but casters are my favorites. If there's a healer-type class, clerics, priests, etc, I roll those. I like the feeling of a caster but being able to self-heal so I if I get into trouble I'm not instantly dead. I do love swinging a big staff or two-handed mace around while casting spells at my enemies and healing myself. On the flip side, I also do enjoy the pyro-maniac type approach to casters. The all-out, no holds barred, one-of-us-is-going-to-die type approach: pure damage and hoping you can kill stuff fast enough it doesn't kill you. I love throwing huge fireballs, epic lightning, or impaling people with ice-shards.
