I've always found myself playing casters in RPGs. Although my first character in WoW was a warrior, my favorite will always be mage.
I have a tendency to play ranged dps, especially a ranger of some sort. I have been dabbling into casters, though. DPS of some sort is still my area. Standing back and letting the arrows or spells fly has always held an appeal.
I personally prefer to play a Ranger style class but also tend to play healing classes too
I like being sneaky. I usually play rogues or other skirmishing damage dealers, such as archers.
I like to mix it up and play a combination of both caster and melee if it's allowed in the game.
I love playing casters in most RPGs because I always love having options and more interesting things to do that just hit the baddie with a sharpened stick over and over until it falls down. Sometimes simplicity is fun too, so I'll occasionally play the fighter or rogue type, but when I do I still usually try to get as many interesting options as possible so that the fight never is as simple as just hitting the other guy more and harder than he's hitting me.Crowd control and battlefield control are my favorite toys to play with in RPGs, and it always makes me more than a little sad when games don't implement them well.

Usually barbarian/fury warrior anything that can hold big scary weapons
In most RPG's I play a damaging caster archetype, although in WoW I really enjoy healing with the occasional DPS caster off spec. With the release of Skyrim a couple of months ago, I really got into melee, which turned out to be a great change in strategy and a lot of fun.
I typically play the warrior type. Sometimes to paladin or templar, but usually the soldier who seeks to protect others by inflicting ridiculous amounts of damage to the bad guys with an enormous sword.
I played all sorts of RPGs and the thing that I noticed was that I always enjoyed playing casters, be it a druid or a mage I always love using spells, I tried playing melee classes or even ranged classes(such as archers, rangers) and although I enjoyed them a lot, they simply didn't offer me the same feeling that playing a caster did. I can safely say that I'll always be a caster, not matter what game I play.
all classes ... but some kind of dark caster dps as first ...
I usually gravitate towards casters, though thieves, assassins, and hunters are all a close second. :)
This a great way to get people interested in this new game. I myself usually go for playing the damage dealer melee characters. I do have a few caster Dps toons also. I like to do everything except tanking. I'm not very good at using the proper rotation to hold aggro so i leave that to the more confident type-A personalities. : )
I normally play a rogue type in most games, sneak in stab you while you sleep and rob you blind. :) If I do have an option sometimes i got a mix like a battlemage or just full on tank.
Usually I like to try the pet class if available. Otherwise some sort of ranged DPS.
Well when it comes to mmorpgs I feel better being a healer first then I might get a melee class, but i would never get a class like a rogue. For rpgs I like to keep a mix between casting and melee damage.
I tend to waffle a lot and play every class at least for a little while to get a feel for them. The one that tends to stick with me though, is the two-handed (preferably a great-axe!) wielding warrior. Nothing better than crushing your enemies in the most brutal looking way. Sword and board tanking comes a close second, though. :D
