I love stealing things, so I usually end up being some sort of thief. I like being more of a bruiser type rogue than a sneaky backstabber rogue. If there is no real equivalent I end up being the typical fighter.
I always love a Necromancer class. If there isn't any of that, usually some kind of Mage. Swing a sword around gets too boring!@Darklurkr23
I have 2 prime roles, and one I'm getting into (with Skyrim at least)Usually I roll a melee warrior type, just wading into battle slaughtering all around me. I've also gotten into the ranged casting role, just nuking from afar. Most recently, because of Skyrim, the stealth archer style has proven most entertaining.

I usually play paladin.
I like playing the role of a medic.
Melee dps like Rogue or Warrior.
I've been playing the thief/Assasins type ever since I first tried it out in Morrowind way to many years back. There is something about sneaking around people that I enjoy :)
When I am playing an rpg, I prefer to be a summoner or a caster if the former is not available. The idea of having a pet or minion to help me complete my goals, or even an army to crush my enemies like in D2 was great.
I like to play a tanking paladin.
Mages or any kind of caster. So fragile yet so powerful.
I've never played a melee class; at least not successfully! It's not that I can't or dislike it, but casting has 1000x more appeal to me :DPlay a druid in wow, never been melee spec'd, no aspiration to be!CASTERS FTW ~_^~C
I like the warrior-type playstyles. Running into the thick of battle brandishing heavy armor and a big weapon, slashing about and absorbing the enemy attacks, and then emerging as the last one standing to tell the tale. That sort of dangerous, in-your-face, almost foolhardy attitude with being a warrior is totally different from my personality IRL, which I think is why I love it in gaming so much.
Usually a rogue or some melee. Never dirty caster types!
In every game that I have played where I have had the option to choose a particular class, I have always started with a mage/caster/wizard. I love the challenge of being a "glass cannon" or a high damage dealing magic user that unavoidably cannot take much damage himself prior to losing his life. I love to learn the skills it takes to avoid such damage and still be able to be one of the highest damage dealers in each game that I have played.
Casters, since I really enjoy doing the maximum amount of damage and avoiding bad stuff on the ground.
