As far as MMOs go I guess I've always mained heavily-armored, dual-wielding and diesel-powered killing machines....but as far as RPGs go, I usually find myself gravitating towards stealth classes. Something about dispatching my foes in a few lethal strikes from a pair of daggers or short-blades, then simply disappearing into the shadows to do it again. No surprise, I found the stealth route the most effective and enjoyable in Skyrim...but I find myself stuck in the middle with what I'll start out as in Reckoning. Time will tell...
Something like a warlock, dark mage or a rogue, anything related to the goodness.
I play healers most often to begin with, or some kind of dps / healer hybrid. Not a big fan of melee. :s
What I play most depends on the game, I have a large inability to make decisions when it comes to classes, so a lot of the time I research a lot into the game before hand or while still in the early stages of playing it. This usually turns into just min/maxing and picking what is the strongest class when done right. In more multiplayer where min/maxing doesn't take as large of an effect I like to play a melee character, instead of the slow and large number classes though. The melee type of choice for me would be more faster but with less damage that evens it out.
For any new RPG, I try out every type to see which one I'm most comfortable with. It usually ends up being a rogue/ranger type, because I feel most comfortable with a ranged weapon and some distance between me and the target (cowardly, I know. But I'm not dead yet, either. :p) I do wish that I could be more comfortable with magic type characters because I love the style and "flash" that always goes into magic spells, but they always end up as glass cannons. With ranged characters, I also use the extra distance as a second or two extra to think about my next moves. And while fighter characters often have the most protection, they usually have the least amount of style (HACK HACK SWING DEAD).I've already tried Amalur: Reckoning's demo and love the game, and I'm hoping that with the Might/Sorcery fate I can make a feasible battlemage character that can use heavy armors and still cast those huge devastating spells. I've been playing RPGs for a long time and it's time to try something other than a ranger character. :D
Most frequently I play Bow-wielding rogue-sneaky-sneaky types in single player RPGs.Lean more towards healer in mutliplayer.
I generally play a heavy-hitting warrior like class, and try to build a spellwarrior style class in games that permit it.
Caster, cant seem to the the hang of melee classes. Started a mage in vanilla wow, and still love that char.
I prefer a ranged class in these types of games, I'm better able to manage the battles.
Melee DPS
I usualy play warrior/barbarian type in rpgs.
Melee class and if that melee class have some conjuration spells? Best class ever for me :D
