I can't see the server myself so no updates. Our server guy is probably AFK with his family right now while it does its work.
I have no idea how big it is, but I know since it takes so many resources, it must be massive. Just the sheer number of profiles; many people make a profile and never update again, too, so even if it's low traffic per se (comparatively to the rest of Wowhead), there ARE a lot of profiles.
I really hope it can be up tomorrow; if it can't, I'll try to get him to do a post explaining a little more. But I think it's simply just rewriting and transferring every single file, then making sure it's stable, and then actually launching it...which is time consuming...
As for the thanks and such, send them all to our server guy =) Koper and I have been working on different projects since there's not much we can do here. I am just pestering for an update every ~12 hours to keep y'all in the loop, hehe.

Great stuff. Thanks for the update Ashelia. Any mages/shammies wanna give that server a time-warp / Heroism / Bloodlust? :D

Find it hard to see that the Profiler is considered the lowest used WowHead resource... for me it's always #1.
OTOH, I'm happy to see that at least one admin seems to be posting a lot about progress (or even lack thereof)... I always thought that was always the BEST move because it kind of ends all the wild speculation that may go on.
I can be patient as heck IF I see admins are at least trying to keep us informed. Makes ALL the difference in the world.

Is there anything that can be done to remove these profiles that haven't been used? That will avoid a lot of headache for you from staff and admin, and more wowhead for us. = ]

I know that I will be removing several that I had and have not updated in a long while. Mostly to drop the DB load and just in case there happens to be another oh carp with the profiler DB again.

Update: there are some duplicates and errors, so Koper has to look into it before it goes live, but the DB itself is done copying and that aspect is done.

GO KOPER GO! :D

Koper is going to delay it; he put it live just now and it was taking a minute to load a profile, which temporarily broke Wowhead for a minute before he quickly yanked it down. He will check it out when there's less of a traffic load (i.e. not primetime).

I have only 1 character profile I actually use, and another 10+ that I believe were created automatically after uploading data gathered playing those characters using the wowhead client. So an obvious first move would be to stop creating profiles automatically.

I feel I have to chime in:
Patiently awaiting its return, & I'm frankly surprised how much I use it, & by extension miss it.
I guess the sayings true, about not missing something til it isn't there....

Eeeew. That could have multiple reasons. :-O
Good morning everyone! 8:45am here CST-US. Really enjoying coming back here for the updates. I'm in the middle of a move, so it's nice to see the progress while resting my back from physical labor. :-P
If I knew who your server admin was, and that he actually checked the forums, I would thank him directly for all the work he's doing. :)

Any update on the profiler?

If you guys wipe the database, and start fresh would the problem not appear again in a long time, or it's expected to happen again?
In case the wipe could/would fix it, what are the negative repercussions which surpass this long downtime that are holding you back?
