Just checked reputation tab. Both uploaded datas were nine days ago. +25 for each. So I should have gotten 25 yesterday and today. Curious. Is there somewhere else I should post this or another thread better suited? Thanks

I would really like to see the profiler get back up and running. I rely on it heavily when trying to plan things out before I get into the game. Ether im going to be lvling an alt or working on a profession or even recipe farming. I could do some of this with the WoW armory, but Wowheads profiler gives me a much quicker and easier way to see and find things i want.

Rest assured, so would the rest of the staff. Unfortunately it takes up the most bandwidth despite being the lowest traffic part of the site, plus is on a different database, so it's last to come up. I really hope we can get it up tomorrow for all you guys that use it regularly =)

Hello Hat,
Thank you for asking. I'd be glad to share the things I do with the wowhead profiler. Feel free to use and reference my usage information for your future guide as well, and share the link with me when you have it posted. :)
Probably the feature I use most often, though not exclusively, is the "Find Upgrades" button immediately below the char picture. Sometimes, I will have several tabs open comparing two of my same class/faction chars for comparison. This takes the internet 'legwork' out of having to research from scratch all over again (and focus more time in-game), or just jogs my memory on how I obtained the item I'm after the first time around.
I use the "Find Upgrades" feature to compare what my best options are for each of the dual specs I have chosen (or plan to choose, if low-level) for items that are crafted, PvP earned with Honor Points, looted from PvE events, or bought from vendors.
There are many, MANY great items to acquire in WoW, but not all of them (obviously) are useful for every class, nor useful for same classes in different situations (PvP vs PvE for example). When I use the "Find Upgrades" option my lower level chars, often times I will choose level 85 to view the main stats to focus on in a specific spec/stat and also see how it will benefit specific situations (PvP, tanking, healing, or future raiding). From that 'top down' approach, I sort by level (in each slot in question) to see what will benefit my char most
now
, 10 levels from now, 20 levels from now, etc., in the most time-efficient, cost-effective manner. Askmrrobot.com is a great site that works directly in conjunction with the wowhead profiler, but since that site bases it's "Best in Slot" information solely on level 85 content, I have learned to use it as my "top down approach" starting point for my lower level chars and work my information down from there.
Another great feature of the Profiler I use often is the 'currently equipped' tabular data listed underneath my char's stats, which also shows enchants, gems, inscriptions, or leg armor and the ability to right-click just that item and find upgrades specific to both the situation I am considering using an upgrade in, depending on the stats I want to temporarily improve.
I also use the Achievements and Titles databases within the profiler to track my chars' progress as well as the Quests tracking section (which I've found extremely helpful at level 85!).
I am not interested in acquiring every achieve in the game. World Event achieves are not my preference. I prefer things that are related to my char's class in a way that supports the original Lore story-line (still trying to figure out how MoP will play a role in all this). I will use the Quest, Titles, and Achieves tracking as a progress report in the process or creating my char's 'personality'. I am by no means experienced in role-playing on such servers, but I do have 2 servers with 'teams' set up where I plan to improve this option available to me. Again, the wowhead profiler helps me keep track of my learning experience in developing a char's 'personality' as I build up to playing on an RP server.
The Reputation tracking system of the profiler is another section I visit VERY often, and which I use in conjunction with the Achieves and Quests tracking modules mentioned above. Any experienced WoW player knows the value and the importance (stats-wise) of inscriptions and items that can only be acquired through reputation grinds. The profiler has provided me with an out-of-game tool I can track progress on and research best approaches fit to my time personal time frames.
The Professions database specific to the char I'm working with to find where I need to go for the next recipe is absolutely INVALUABLE to me for several reasons. Being of service to others in- and out of guild is always rewarding. Being able to see what recipes I do not yet have (which I have not kept written inventory of) and where to acquire them, accompanied by the user comments in wowhead on the process is priceless to me. This will be a tool of wowhead I want to indefinitely and continuously utilize as much as possible, without having to spend time going through several other outside resources.
As of recently, on my home server Darrowmere-US, I have started stockpiling lvl 80-85 items to be migrated through a paid character transfer (along with many BoA's) to the next server I need them on. This cuts down on acquisition time, production, leveling time, and greatly increases gold profit through either selling the items or disenchants created by the chars professions leveling on the 'new' server. Again, I am not after every recipe available...only those that I need either for the current server I am working on in preparation for the next server I will be transferring items too (might as well make it well worth the $25.00 real money transfer). I keep track of and compare very quickly what I have, what I want, and what I need to stockpile along the way using the Professions tracker in wowhead on the profiler page.
The Guild Profiler is another tool I use often. I can compare my guild with other guilds (even on other servers) with ease by just using the link to my guild underneath my char's profile's name. The data feedback gives me a good idea of a guild member's personal talents and preferences within the guild I am in. On other servers where I am not yet associated with a guild, it lets me look at what guilds are available, in comparison to mine on Darrowmere-US, for the server I will be on in the future, what their achieves are (guild and guild members), how many members, and their armory scores. Sometimes I will have a tab open showing wowhead's guild profiler for a tabular overlook at a specific guild, and another tab on Battle.net with the same guild information, but showing the "News" section which shows me the "personality" of the guild. In this information gathering process, I can then gauge whether I want to target membership of certain guilds or not. However, I would not advise this procedure for new players. WoW is an "accidental learning" experience, and I've had my share of "accidental learning" to be able to gauge a little smarter than when I was a fresh, green, n00b learning how to get beyond level 3. Wow, that's a long time ago! :)
Being able to use the Profiler to compare my char against other chars is a wonderful tool! It shows me where I can improve in any area, and inspires me to make the choice of procedure to that improvement (question to ask: "am I going to use this improvement on a daily basis, or is this a one-time vanity indulgence?").
Being able to use the profiler on fellow guild members, or even battleground rivals encountered can be a learning experience. You can look up any char you encounter in-game on battle.net (name @ server) and then view the char in wowhead to see their profile information (sans their private data). The best feature I've found when using the option to look up other guild members is when helping them to figure out what quest they left off at to complete "
Guardians of Hyjal: Call of the Ancients
" after the sometimes overwhelming process of getting to and reaching level 85.
While there are workarounds to obtain all this information both within and outside of wowhead, wowhead had taken much the internet 'legwork' out and compiled it neatly into the profiler for easy access by anyone. Until recently.
Your question inspired me to take some time and write something (
hopefully
) useful to both you and others within the wowhead community. If I seem more detailed than the average Joe, it's probably due to my 15 year background in I.T.. Having a large understanding of infrastructure, a little bit more than basic understanding of relational databases, Windows platform (from Win98 to Win7) user software mass-deployments in large, corporate environments, systems administration, and process writing, I am more inclined than not to be detailed and thorough. I also have a passion for time-saving tools that allow me more in-game time, but simultaneously and efficiently answer my detailed questions that pique my own curiosity at any given moment. Wowhead's profiler has so far done that for me. One could almost consider wowhead the 'corporate' SharePoint portal of WoW information. But since the recent down time, I do question whether I should use my professional background to create something I can rely on when wowhead undergoes extensive "maintenance", so not to be deprived for extended periods of time of information I constantly seek.
Thank you for letting me share, and I hope to hear feedback on whether my usage helps you in writing your future guide.
Best Regards,
Celebriian

I have a "Welcome to Wowhead" Idea in my head for a guide. It will basically talk about all the things you can do on wowhead, as well as have tips and tricks for first time users. A description like this is perfect.
For you, the profiler is more convenient than the battle.net armory, and is your one stop for all your Wowhead needs. You start at the profiler and it takes you to were you want to be on Wowhead, faster.

I'm glad you took the time to write such a complete post. I did take the time to read it all, some parts more than once.
I bet you feel blind right now, but don't worry, its coming back ^_^
Cheers,

I love the profiler, I use it for just about everything from endgame raiding profiles to just goofing around. I'm going to buy premium if you keep the deadline! (Btw: How many extra custom profiles can I make with premium? I can't find any number or anywhere it says "unlimited" either:P)

That is an excellent idea, Hat! If I can be of any assistance in helping to write up further descriptions, I'd be glad to do so. Yes, the profiler is my "one stop shop" for everything I do, and yes, much more useful to me than the battle.net Armory. I do feel blind at the moment (as well as from what I can tell, other users are feeling similar). But I am following this thread like a bloodhound and reading between the lines of the staff comments given on what the actual issues might be (speculation from an I.T. infrastructure standpoint) and am certain that the workaround is in competent hands. Patience is a virtue indeed. However, I can't help but feel compelled to contribute one way or another, being that 50% or more of the information provided is thanks to user input.

Same here - no 25 points since 9th Jan. My daily visits are recorded though.
It is good that so much of the Wowhead site is up and running again - but I do miss the profiler.
I use it mainly for checking out upgrades and working out which enchants/jems are best. :-)

Same problem here. My last upload that gave me +25 rep is 8 days ago, but when I now upload data I don't get rep.
Ditto...

Is there a status update on an approximate ETA as to when the Profiler will be back up? Previous posts indicated
possibly
today, Wednesday. I have searched the forums and the replies from the site Admins, but do not see any communication regarding this issue.

Also no 25 rep for me for uploads as well, and i just did one 5 mins ago.
I am just wondering if its a coding thing with the profiler. As in are they rewriting code to make it more efficient? If thats the case then i can understand the profiler being down for 7 days so far. But I thought they did some of that when servers where changed, or something like that months ago when things went down with it then....

Could really use a new ETA on when the profiler will be back up if there is one. I am so addicted to it.

I am still receiving the authentication error telling me that either my user id/email is incorrect or my pw is.

Sorry that the profiler wasn't brought back up; Koper has been working on that server and dev all of yesterday, hopefully he can get both stable (having our development environments down is very annoying for us as we try to do work as well).

Thanks for the update, Ashelia. Highly appreciated. I'm sure that Koper has been immersed beyond the call of duty, and we hear you loud and clear that you guys put a lot of time and effort into this site. Please keep us posted with progress and possible ETA's, if at all possible. Your profiler and site tools therein have become invaluable to many, many, many users.
