Buying the game gives 30 free days. I pay £9 a month, the same as WoW which is $15. I'm quite sure it's not $30 for ToR.

huh, strange I know a few ex-wow players who keep saying it is more expensive.
The free 30 days sounds nice though. Thanks for the info.

I thought it was $30 a month....

its called defamation, and people do it all the time, they slander what they don't like, in the hopes that others will eventually hate it too.

its the exact same way as wow (and any paid MMO really, if u buy the game, they really should let you play it unhindered for at least a month to let you decide if its worth it to pay a subscription.
Also, does anyone know where to reliably buy time cards for TOR? I have yet to se any around where I live.
You can use the site I use.
http://www.therpgstore.com/
the site is in english and spanish, and they accept a lot of different currencies including US dollars, Euros, Mexican pesos, Colombian pesos, Argentinean pesos, and Bolivares (my currency). And in the 2 years I've bought stuff from them, they've never let me down, its a legit site.
BUT!
use that site as a last resource only. They do charge slightly higher for those gamecards (32 US dollars instead of 30)
my choice would be Ebay (assuming they let those cards be sold in ebay where you live. I at first bought my gamecards on ebay before they passed that f*bleep*king anti-videogame law that forbade Ebay-venezuela from selling anything related to videogames that are related to war)
So, check the Ebay of your country, if they sell it cheaper than 32 Dollars, buy it there, otherwise, there's that website I linked. They are reliable don't worry about that.

Rank, I don't have a credit card to pay for things online. That is why I use time cards.
And when I tried city of heroes, it didn't give any free time, I remember.

I think I'm going to scrap my Operative. It's basically a Rogue with an energy pool of 40 where you can spend more than that but are punished significantly if you do. Also, you only get maybe 10 seconds to use your finishers and God only knows when they'll be available, especially if you try to play a healer.
I realize I'm dressing up the statement 'I'm too bad' in a lot of game mechanic theory language, but it's still how I feel about the class.

well, I can only speak from the Bolivares P.O.V but I don't have a credit card either, yet they accept bank deposits.
At least when I used to buy my WoW gamecards there, I'd go to one of the banks they listed for venezuela, make a deposit in one of the accounts they list, of the amount they ask, and then use the voucher to buy the gamecard.
I dunno if that's also available for Dollars.

is cuz they're NCSoft, and they suck man :S

I'm liking the sniper, mechanics wise. My companion is a sociopath, and I don't know how many levels I can take where the moral choices are "poison the slaves" or "poison the slaves A LOT," but the combat is fine.

IA is the one class I've not taken past level 5. I have friends who love playing their Operative though - mostly healers but one DPS.

Hm, I may start playing this five months earlier than I thought.
Hey asa, are moderator options still open over at Torhead?

Ops are literally op atm. I play with the best one on our server and he can down Champ geared people in under 10 seconds. If there were dps meters I'm sure he'd be on top.
Not to mention we have an Op healer in every one of our raid groups

I wanna make it clear that while I
LOVE
SWTOR, and fully intend to play it, still.......... this comic was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

I disagree with it of course, but still found it quite awesome.
the things people with free time do xD.

WHAT IN THE &*!@ IS THE POINT OF THE 'FREE' DAYS?
Also, due to this, I went to but some time online.

Yes. You can only access access your free 30 days if you set up a subscription
plan
or buy a time card. Note that if you do the former, you are
not charged
a fee during those 30 days (they come first.) If you don't like the game, you can cancel it no problem. If you like the game, you are charged at the end and can continue playing til you don't want to.

sorry but no.
I bought wow, and got my 30 days without specifying any subscription plan. Just install game, create account, introduce CDkey, start playing.

except I don't have a bank account, paypal, credit card, or w/e in order to set up a plan.
And I am 100% positive WoW's time started up as soon as you registered the game, and allowed you to hop right in and start playing.

I'm pretty sure Rift had the same deal when I tried it a couple of months back, and I think (not as sure) that it was the same with EQ2.

Alright, now that I am actually playing the game.
It is fairly fun so far, granted I have only done a trooper. Took me a while to find some nice, lag-free settings, but now that I have, the game is running smoothly and I am liking the rather high-speed combat.
