Okay, having done some research into other topics that you have posted SpongeMike (Boy, do I feel like a stalker now btw) I can now say with certainty, not all of the players of WoW are at your level. If you have been in a World First guild (Not saying that you have not been, just generalizing) then you are used to a level of gameplay and...well..competence that the other 85-95% of the player base just doesn't bring to the table.
The ZA/ZG for many, many weeks (hell, even now at times) is a source for frustration due to length and shear number of do-this-perfect-or-die mechanics that can cause even great tanks and healers to falter. The fact that your breezed through them in a guild group doesn't surprise me, you had coordination, experience and access to Vent/Skype/Team Speak to help with said coordination. If you went in there in a typical LFD PuG by hour 2 you would be ready to beat your keyboard to death with your face as well.
The fact that Blizz is finally listening to the more casual player base and giving us a chance to have a dungeon set that all three can be done in the time it takes to do 1 ZA/ZG makes me want to do a happy lil dance. No matter how much you complain about how easy the WotLK heroics were...At least it was only 15 minutes of your life with a fail group instead of 2+ hours.
Personally, I find that there is just enough challenge to keep the new heroics from being mindless while still being capable of running them before my second dose of morning caffeine.

Yes late rollers in TBC saw it almost impossible to get to endgame contents..but Cata just does the opposite..now you miss the entire expansion to get to the end.Except, if you want to, you can go back and see the original raids for the content; I still see groups looking for BoT, BWL, BH and FL going. That's not something you could get in the days of BC; because there was such a steep entrance fee. I'm sorry, but I don't see the addition of Justice and Valor points as cheapening of the game, I don't see the new content as somehow being greater then the old, and I don't see why anyone else feels the need to lock out other players, who pay the same money a month everyone else does.
I have no problem per se with justice/valor points...but much like wrath and emblems it is tedious..eventually very boring, rewarding without merit and as we saw when we went from Wrath to Cata, a teacher of poor skills.
I posted back in Aug of last year that after reading the cata notes and comparing that to what I was seeing in the LFD runs...that LFD at the start of Cata was going to be a catastrophe.
You didn't need to be a sage to see that coming... yet Blizz didn't. Aren't you curious why? What were they paying attention to.
I am sometimes under the impression that after the merge with Activision a bunch monkeys in suits decided everything in regards to progression had to be fixed regardless that 11.5 mill said it wasn't broke, it just needed to be greased a little.
It comes down to what you want to base this game...it use to be merit...what you put in is what you got out.
I'm not against players getting to see contents..on the contrary. I have put forth many suggestion for allowing accelerated progression for casuals/late bloomers based on merit.
You can't get around merit. If your going to play your class like crap and act like a jerk you will soon find yourself left behind, as it should be. In what other endeavor do we allow people freely progressive without merit except for maybe politics.
But when you can run dungeons that you can clear in your sleep over and over to get gear that is on par with current endgame contents, then your rewarding without merit and you develop a poor mindset.
I had faith in the community to excel, it seems Blizz did once too. It is almost impossible to be bad in this game with all the info that is available.
If the only roadblock is timesink...ok fair enough. Let's fix that.
I'm sure we can all put forth suggestions that benefit players who are good but can't timesink enough to see an expansion contents.
I can't argue against the perceived faults of Van/TBC..they are set in stone and you can't alter the past..but you can learn from it.
LFR..though I had my reservations at first, is a great way to map out strategy. Why watch videos when hands on is always better. This is a great tool for guilds though it was intended for puggers.
Maybe Blizz is taking the reigns again and away from Activision hacks and steering the course of this game back to where it could be great and rewarding.
well..I've stressed my position and give kudo's to those who can offer up theirs with some logic and without the need for smug remarks.
Cheers to rose colored glasses...gonna transmorph mine :P
