Is it insulting/mistrustful for tanks to use Lay on Hands?

Lay on Hands healed Livlivliv for 700,000!
<giggle>
I'm quite happy now that I WAS doing the right thing, not risking wiping did seem more logical to me. Perhaps my definition of risk is less close to the wire than other people's but lag, dcs, etc etc are not exactly uncommon. No, wipes are not the end of the world but it's also far better not to have them.
Thank you pala community. <group hug>
Well good, that is the right conclusion to draw! Your definition of close may shift, but never be afraid of using it. It's just a cooldown after all.
If your guild keep being idiots, gquit or send them here to present their case.
And hat, you're right 99.9% of the time, but on 10 man post Nerf normal, or noob mode, this might be in that 0.01%!

Lol 99.9% works for me. I tell my girl friend that I'm right at least 84% of the time, she thinks its much lower.... I'll need to point her to this post =P
Anyways, 10 mans were always a little stricker on DPS for that fight, so i guess having a out like lay on hands makes up for it.
Cheers,
Turkey Hat

lay of hands is a tool to help heal a person who is about to die. neglecting it just because of how someone feels about it is a crime.
use it if it prevents wipes. any discussion after that is ego, pride, and ignorance

I have no qualms about paladins using LoH on themselves
when they are about to die
. If they have to use it, then someone is doing something wrong, and LoH fixed it. The only problem I have about tanks and LoH is when they use it at anything above 30% hp and I have mana...

You'll never get that GCD back, oh noes!
That's hardly the problem at all. My problem is that if they're above 30% HP and use LoH, it seems like they've wasted it. Sure, its their cooldown, but as a healer who also has a paladin tank, I feel that there are definitely better times to use such a potent cooldown, and I wish some tanks had more foresight, and were less trigger happy.

If i'm at 30% in a heroic, I'm going to be bloody panicking. It's not like it still has the hour cooldown like before. You can use it like 2-3 times per heroic. It's not worth saving.

Agreed. It's 7 minutes with the glyph, by the time you're actually at the boss it'll be reset. Even in the fastest Zanda I've ever done it'd be usable 3 times.
If you save it until you're at 10% when you're being murdered in the face by something, you could well miss the LoH boat and get 'globalled' by the mobs.
Why wait? If you're forever afraid of 'wasting' cooldowns you'll never use them at all. Even Heroism, which you probably
should
keep for a boss, has saved a few trash wipes from accidental over-pulls.
The only time I wish I didn't use it as at the very instant one of my priesty buddies puts their wings on me.

Yeah, it's annoying, but I've healed almost every tier of content in this game and even in 5 man heroics there may be a time when a cascade of events lead to a situation where the tank is in jeopardy of dying even though we're all in 378+ gear and have done the content multiple times.
Just pop it if you need it... when I tank on my Paladin I often use Lay Hands, even if it's on a DPS that might die or on the healer, not necessarily on myself even.

If you think your gonna die you could save
Ardent Defender
as your oh-%^&* button.
And when it ends if you are not topped off use LoH, and do check if it saved your life or not, and if it did link the log for them to eat their idiotic words, thats like saying to a disc priest not to use pain supression on the tank, because it means you dont have confidence on him.
on 10man you get around a 1 second window between the debuff falling off and the next swing coming in, so with good reflexes you certainly can heal yourself to full if needed :) I think you raid mostly 25s dont you, where the
Decimating Strike
s come in much faster? But 10man Baleroc is ridiculous now. You only actually get 2 swings now per Decimation Blade since the nerfs.
Interesting, never noticed that.

As a raiding healer, I can say that unless the fight calls for coordinated cool downs, which in that case they are worked out ahead of time, your cool downs are yours to use as you see fit. A lot of times when an accident happens you need to be using your personal cool downs stabilize the fight.
If your healers are "dropping the ball" it will show up in logs and battle reports like World Of Logs. Look for things like low active time or just huge gaps between high and low performers. There is something else you may not be telling us either like doing odd raid compositions as well.
