I’m Achenar Silverthorne. I’m a worgen druid and I want to tell you why I love the Hallow’s End event most.I was a farmer’s boy then. We were four: my mother, father, my brother: Aensis and me. We had an avarage sized farm where we lived. The farm was little far from the nearest town. It was on the back of a hill, which made the farm hidden from the sight. There were woods behind us and there was a spring not so far from the farm there. In short we had almost everything we had to have around us.We grew cabbages, aubergines, tomatoes, potatoes, carrots… I can still remember how glittering those squashes were. My father and Aensis worked together in the yard. I helped them often, but I was a student of Celestine of the Harvest, so I had to go to the town twice a week. I practiced my skills with the crops in the yard. When it was dinner time and we were eating my crops, I usually found it not eatable despite the fact that the rest thought it was more delicious than the normal. We were often hunting in the woods with Aensis. He used to use reaper as a hunting weapon! One day, Aensis had found some iron deposit deeper in the woods. He had been crafting reapers since. The woods were so relaxing. But my favorite spot was the spring. There, a blue sunlight – moonlight at nights which I liked more – beamed down the water after hitting all those leaves which made the water glow as the source of that light was somewhere deep in the spring. There was always sparrows or ravens pecking those shiny little red fruits that had dropped on the blue grassy ground. You could feel the sound of billions of leaves and branches as if they were limbs of very tall, worshipful beings, moving continuesly as if they were trying to tell something to you with your every nerve. Perhaps what the environment had placed in my mind made me a druid.I was in love with a girl in the town. She had that black wavy hair which reminded me the dancing leaves under the moonlight in the woods. She had that black, fluttering eyes like there was no iris but only little black pellucid Stones which reminded me the spring when there was no light but only the exquisite sound of the water. I was sure that it was my instincts that let me see her face like one of a black rose’s. How trembling was I when I was near her. She was the daugther of the high priest of the town’s church. He had more land than I could ever guess. He was a nice, cheerful man who implanted the townsfolk as if the religion was gracious and pleasueable. They sent Senray away to Dalaran for her further education before the Secon War. My crops had started to taste even more awful then.It was the time the Greymane Wall was constructed. We were fortunate to remain within the borders of Gilneas though we were so near to the northeastern border that a portion of the woods had been destroyed. How tall the wall was! It was disrupting a little period of our sunlight. My father was really disturbed by it and so Aensis was. I was too excited by the bigness of the massive construction. Soon, we heard there was a rebellion against it and what it caused and afterwards, my father left home to join the rebels. One day, we received a mail that my mother should go and aid the rebels. We were only me and my brother. We whould learn that they were put in prison later. The Northgate rebellion had already been suppressed by the king when we heard that the undead were swarming throughout Lordaeron and the armies of the dead were marching to Silverpine. Aensis was very grateful for the wall for the first time because we were hearing that it was dreadful out there, but the Scourge was not our biggest problem. The king’s savage worgen, freed by his order upon the Scourge were far more cursed than we thought. Their curse spread not only throughout the Silverpine but also in Gilneas! We could sometimes hear howls from that far from the town. We were planning what we would do if the worgen found us in our hidden spot. Aensis left home with one of his precious reapers, just telling me that he would check what was happening in the town. He have never returned, just like my father and mother. I was so nervous at that time and thanked God Senray was away and safe. I had never stopped my druidic practice at home and continued improving my skills so I had a reason to calm down myself against a worgen attack.I remember those terrible earthquakes and the night I was waken by a noise which I couldn’t name what it was. I ran out immediately and saw something very large growing distant which seemed to be burning. I thought it was a nightmare but I know it was real. The next day, I saw green mist spreading by the enormous doors of the Greymane Wall which could be seen from the farm. I knew it was not the worgen. I thought I had better leave the farm. It was just a waste of time to stay here and wait for something to happen. When I got to the town, it was fully abandoned. I found an abandoned black steed, calmed him and rid him away from the town. I came before the Gilneas City. There were black smog and green mist around the city. The city looked like a battleground. I’ve met the refugees and they told me what has happened. It was not the Scourge, but another undead who called themselves the Forsaken. We were being invaded and there were still worgen attacking what’s in their sight. I was bitten by one of them while we were trying to escape the city. The worgen was immediately killed by a refugee rifle and my wourd was not looking so crucial. I forgot it as soon as we get to the Keel Harbor, where violet sails were waving over the dark wooden hull of night evlen boats. It was shocking to meet night elves for the first time. Violet skin, long ears, tall, athlethic body… The shock didn’t last long and we crowded into the boats. I could hear the enemy drawing closer. The night elves showed us the way to our crowded rooms and I immediately fell asleep.I remember that we were near the Maelstorm when I started to transform. It was painful those three or four days. I can not forget the sound of rain drops hitting the dark wooden hull while I was leanin my ear on the wall. When we got to Darnassus –How in the world could a tree be that enormous!- I’ve asked for my parents and Aensis but they were not on the refugee boats. They were lost. I had lost my family. Now I had only Senray. I’ve improved my druidic skills heavily while I stayed in Darnassus. Then I’ve left for the world. I’ve travelled all Kalimdor and helped who were in need of aid. I’ve seen the sandy zone of the old silithid kingdom, Silithus; the flooded valley of Thousand Needles; the newly flourishing wasteland of Decolace; the ancient and wartorn mountain of Hyjal…I’ve heard that Senray had gone with the Scarlet Crusade to Northrend. They say she was lost there and I’m still looking for her. Every October, when Hallow’s End comes, I throw that tourch for all those I have lost. I mourn deeply and let my buried great sorrows to flow away with my tears. I’m saving my tears in a vial because I’ve once heard that those could be used for… let’s just say I may use it someday when it will be really necessary. Those cheerful events in the Hallow’s End makes me feel better and forget my sorrows for sometime. I’m very glad that they arrange something like this every year and celebrate with all Azeroth. That’s why I love the Hallow’s End most.((That laughter of the Headless Horseman is MARVELOUS))
My favourite Holiday in World of Warcraft is Winter's Veil, not particularly because of Santa or the presents or the christmas tree or the snow or anything of that. But rather because the new year shift occurs during this holiday, and around midnight between December 31th - January 1st the whole server is more or less completely empty which means that that is the perfect time for me to carry through my plans of world domina.....ehm I mean it's such a cozy feeling in Stormwind with all the fireworks and drinks and whatnot!A very merry Christmas and a happy New Year ! *evil laugh*
My favorite and most memorable holiday would have to be my first Lunar Festival. It was during the days of BC and there were not yet many 70's on my server. We tried to organize a group to fight Omen and ended up in a PvPvE Battle of quite epic proportions. It seems that every year I find myself camping Omen's area, in hopes that we can instigate another awesome encounter such as that past one.
Winter veil i suppose, was my first ever event i could use to 100% + the merrymaker title is awsome! Also knowing that ti's christmas makes me even happier
Peon's Day.Because on Peon's Day you always try to do as well as or better than the peasant and peon who finished their tasks with 4 hours to spare. Also, the image of a peon in a tanktop covered in blood with a minigun walking away from an explosion Bruce Willis style comes to mind. Achievement farming and random acts of awesome may also occur.
For me, I gotta say To Honor One's Elders, mostly cause of the rep you gainf rom honor the old dudes :P
Hallow's end is definetly my favourite WoW holiday because you get the chance to get the headless horseman's mount (if you are lucky enough) wich is a awesome monut. You also get the chance to go in costumes and fly around to collect candy and you get to terrorise your opposite factions cities. And another thing, i just love the decorations in the cities during hallow's end, pumpkins with lights in them, bats flying around, skulls with lights. It's just a awesome holiday.
If I had to choose my favorite holiday I'd probably have to choose Children's Week. Growing up in a foster home until I was adopted, I always loved when people came and visited all of us. I like being able to return the favor (In game that is). Plus Egbert is probably the best non-combat pet there is.
My choice is Winter Veil. The reasons are many, and all which make me smile. On my server it brings out the best in people! There is giving and socializing and a feeling of joy that the holiday season is suppose to bring. No matter what feels most like home, from the hottest deserts to the most crisp snow glistened alps, there are lights and trees anywhere in Azeroth; and sometimes you can almost hear those familiar holiday songs in the background. Also, truth be told? I look forward to the presents underneath the trees on the game, more so just at home. It gives me that magic again, and for that I am truly grateful. It wraps up the vision of the season. No lines, no judgements, just happiness and warmth. It just brings people together, from all over the world.
Pirates Day, because I like to day Arrgh.
